Mormonism in your country?

Postby Moronihah » Wed Aug 19, 2015 4:59 pm

What is the status of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in your country? In Moronihah, it is the national church. Approximately 92% of the population are Mormons. Pioneer Day (July 24th), LDS Church Founding Day (April 6th), and John The Baptist's Visit Day (May 15th) are all national holidays with work and school mandated off.

Only about 550 people practice it today, and the numbers are slowly dwindling.

a very popular religion ( 30%), next to Christians ( 35% and Islam (28%) , though a splinter called the Joseph Smith's witnesses ( JSW) has gained popularity with 5 percent of the population practicing that.

Mormonism is unknown, mainly because polygamous marriages are illegal.

In Cankristia, Mormonism is almost totally unheard of, for two reasons.

1. The citizenry as a whole in Cankristia are very pragmatic, sensible, nonreligious people, and as such most do not even belong to a "mainstream" religion, as it were.

2. Given that polygamous marriage are legalized and even socially acceptable within Cankristia, there really isn't a reason to join a religion as a loophole.

The Militaristic Federation of the Sheika recognizes the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as a legitimate religion. Official recognition had been granted after the practice of polygamy had been ceased. The Federation does not recognize the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints due to pending criminal investigations. As of the last census, approximately 2.6% of the Federation's population are Latter Day Saints. Much like other religions, matters of the state are not influenced by the church nor are matters of the church influenced by the state.

Former Premier Ursula Weiler-Kotuk was briefly a Mormon, but she left the church earlier this year, about the same time that she resigned as Premier.

Nationally, there are an estimated 3,452 Mormons in New Othman. It is thus the 7th largest religion, compared to 45,539 Jews, 76,451 Magi (a religion native to the region of Cornellia, in which New Othman is placed), 135,678 Druze, 189,753 Chaldean Christians, 215,985 Shia (mostly Alawite) Muslims, and 64,783,532 Sunni Muslims. If, however, atheists were counted as a religion, they would almost tie with the Mormons at 3,245 adherents. Mormons have severe social disadvantages in terms of building friendships and partnerships, as they abstain from hot beverages, whereas most Othmanis regard chai as being part of their national birthright, and the multitude of chai houses are the most popular meeting place of young and old alike even now.

Within Flecatya's borders, Mormonism is heavily suppressed by the military and police force, with the only legal religion being the Five Ryvok, a pantheon of the Great Ones who helped the First Flecatyan build Krylovograd and gave him immortality for his efforts in the name of the nation. If you don't worship them, you get executed during one of President Krylov's many parades. :?

There are 362,321 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and 176,211 members of the Community of Christ in the Kiravian Federacy, with much smaller numbers belonging to minor sects within the LDS movement.

Mormonism is entirely legal and its institutions are tax-exempt. In the past, Kiravia was the senior partner in a free-association compact with a small officially Mormon country, and it was during this period that many Mormon missionaries and immigrants arrived in Kiravia. Today, most Mormons are Kiravian converts or descendants thereöf, and all Mormon churches are under native leadership. There is a large concentration of Mormons in the colony of Tiorentia.

Once, a long time ago, some mormon missionaries fell through the veil. They tried to convert our people, but were laughed out of everywhere they went.

Needless to say, we don't have mormons here.

Mormonism exists and, given the freedom of religion stipulation in Ventalia's Declaration of Rights of 1789 and the Bill Reinforcing the Declaration of Rights of 1789 of 1990, is legal and unharassed. It is not terribly popular and is often lumped in with "other Christian" in census and survey results.
