For all intent and purposes we choose to assist Excidium Planetis and have found a small error in the document at hand.
Wherein there appears to be a simple typographical error at the end of the second paragraph:

"to make human decisions necessary in the warfare of non-human species;"

Wherein the word "warfare" appears more correct if replaced by the word "welfare".
We could not find any repeat of this error through the remaining part of the document.

Praise be to Excidium Planetis!

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

OOC: Wait, how did you take that thread over? What alternate reality have I stepped into?!

OOC: Well, it was a genius plan. I created a Manchurian candidate in the form of Barack Obama. He signalled to me that he had taken over NationStates by taking away all the guns in America and then engineering the election of an unknown Justin Trudeau to the Premiership of Canada. This was all, naturally, passed at the NATO conference earlier their year, right before its reavowed stance against Russian expansionism in Eastern Europe. It was also confirmed by the new PM of Australia, who nationalised NationStates to allow this to happen per my agreement signed with him shortly after he was born. At the World Domination Subcommittee earlier last week, it was finally finalised.

OMGTKK approached me about a week ago and asked if I could take it over. I accepted.

I may be wrong, but isn't that a greater margin than my previous resolution? Success!

(Also, how did no one on the NS forums bring up the major typo: "probihibited"? Christian Democrats had to point it out on the Rejected Realms forums, where I then proceeded to bash my head against the desk for some time as I realized I was a complete idiot for forgetting to check the spelling of the latest edits before posting. Now my typo is immortalized!)

I did shortly after it was already in the queue when I was looking into adding it to the passed resolutions list. However, I didn't say anything, hoping that people would not find it and therefore, increase maximise* the chances for passage.

Wallenburg wrote:As with the resolution this replaces, I fully support the bill at vote, and applaud it as a great demonstration of the World Assembly's devotion to the protection of the fundamental rights of all sapient beings. This follows a similar and equally important resolution to protect the rights of artificial sapients, which joins it in fulfilling the need to protect sapients outside of the species homo sapiens, thereby making progress toward the goal of a just and equitable Multiverse for all people.

While many delegations have expressed their bigoted arguments against this resolution, I can see no danger, no loss, no setback in guaranteeing the equal protection of sapient rights, regardless of species. Fearmongering shall not inspire me to capitulate to the shadowy blade of racism and xenophobia. As a decent person and a non-"human" myself, I salute this resolution and champion its tenets regardless of the peculiarity or foreignness of a species's individuals. We are not barbarians. We can afford to observe the right of those who can think, feel, reason, and rationalize to be treated as beings equal to a species so randomly selected as somehow special among the countless sapient species of our universes.

This resolution costs no one anything. It only reaffirms the rights of sapient beings, and protects them from the most backward nations and societies. I encourage any and all of my colleagues to support this polished, altruistic resolution.
While she had no regrets about throwing the lever to douse her husband's mistress in molten gold, Blanche did feel a pang of conscience for the innocent bystanders whose proximity had caused them to suffer gilt by association.

And, the first repeal is already out!

Repeal "Rights of Sapient Species"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#355

Proposed by: The new Celtic states

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #355: Rights of Sapient Species (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: As a community of human nations the ideals of no Sapian rights perverts the ideals and foundation of our community. We are not a trek convention, or a furry larp but a collection of nations vying for the interests of humanity. I'm asking that we repeal this farce of a ruling that only stands to destroy the foundation of our community.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 93 more approvals)

Voting Ends: in 3 days 10 hours

Illegal, and quite poor reasoning as well.

"'A community of human nations'?" the Mouth says with evident disdain. "The Dominion scoffs at this blatant falsehood and complete folly." The Mouth shakes its head and sighs. After a moment, though, its posture perks up. "It is, however, the will of the Dominion to congratulate the Exicidian delegate. Truly this is a victory for truth, efficiency, and equality before the law."

In insisting it's a political simulation, NS ignores its reality as a political simulation game. Games have boundaries, and modern roleplaying games have safety tools. NS has neither, leaving it stuck as a badge-collecting pay-to-win where causticness is excused as "character," griefing/raiding is "just politics," and F7 is more courteous than General Assembly.

OOC: Frankly, opposition of this nature feels like they're being bad sports. NationStates, at its core, is a game that is supposed to be fun, and repeals like this come across as people trying to control the game and make it something they want it to be when it's not.

OOC: NS is a politics simulator. Repeals of this nature are expected and, if I were running the place, encouraged. If legislation passes that you oppose, it is well within your rights to oppose it through the submission of repeals (something I've done a lot). Generally, however, you want those repeals to be legal. The game of NS is plastic. It is moulded by its members. Each move will be matched by a countermove of varying efficacy. You and I happen to support this move, but I believe that any countermove should not be denounced as being a countermove, but rather, interpreted as another path taken in the story of politics.
