For all intent and purposes we choose to assist Excidium Planetis and have found a small error in the document at hand.
Wherein there appears to be a simple typographical error at the end of the second paragraph:

"to make human decisions necessary in the warfare of non-human species;"

Wherein the word "warfare" appears more correct if replaced by the word "welfare".
We could not find any repeat of this error through the remaining part of the document.

OOC: Well, it was a genius plan. I created a Manchurian candidate in the form of Barack Obama. He signalled to me that he had taken over NationStates by taking away all the guns in America and then engineering the election of an unknown Justin Trudeau to the Premiership of Canada. This was all, naturally, passed at the NATO conference earlier their year, right before its reavowed stance against Russian expansionism in Eastern Europe. It was also confirmed by the new PM of Australia, who nationalised NationStates to allow this to happen per my agreement signed with him shortly after he was born. At the World Domination Subcommittee earlier last week, it was finally finalised.

I did shortly after it was already in the queue when I was looking into adding it to the passed resolutions list. However, I didn't say anything, hoping that people would not find it and therefore, increase maximise* the chances for passage.

As with the resolution this replaces, I fully support the bill at vote, and applaud it as a great demonstration of the World Assembly's devotion to the protection of the fundamental rights of all sapient beings. This follows a similar and equally important resolution to protect the rights of artificial sapients, which joins it in fulfilling the need to protect sapients outside of the species homo sapiens, thereby making progress toward the goal of a just and equitable Multiverse for all people.

While many delegations have expressed their bigoted arguments against this resolution, I can see no danger, no loss, no setback in guaranteeing the equal protection of sapient rights, regardless of species. Fearmongering shall not inspire me to capitulate to the shadowy blade of racism and xenophobia. As a decent person and a non-"human" myself, I salute this resolution and champion its tenets regardless of the peculiarity or foreignness of a species's individuals. We are not barbarians. We can afford to observe the right of those who can think, feel, reason, and rationalize to be treated as beings equal to a species so randomly selected as somehow special among the countless sapient species of our universes.

This resolution costs no one anything. It only reaffirms the rights of sapient beings, and protects them from the most backward nations and societies. I encourage any and all of my colleagues to support this polished, altruistic resolution.

If legislation passes that you oppose, it is well within your rights to oppose it through the submission of repeals (something I've done a lot). Generally, however, you want those repeals to be legal. The game of NS is plastic. It is moulded by its members. Each move will be matched by a countermove of varying efficacy. You and I happen to support this move, but I believe that any countermove should not be denounced as being a countermove, but rather, interpreted as another path taken in the story of politics.
