Kinda one of those domino-affect situations. When we first got internet access in the mid-90s, we blundered our way into making a group of friends in the MMX fandom. One of those friends was also really into anime, and recommended the series Slayers to us. We found a couple VHS tapes of said series at our local rental place, tried it out, fell in love with that. I threw together a costume of Lina from that series for Halloween my sophomore year of high school. Two guys at school recognized the costume, we ended up becoming friends. Once in college, they invited my sis and I to the college's anime club. My sister met a guy at the club that she got along with quite well. She asked hm out, they started dating. 7 years later, he proposed to her. They just celebrated their 6th anniversary last month. :D
