[PASSED] Commend Flemingovia

Postby Funkadelia » Tue Jun 30, 2015 11:27 pm

The Security Council,

Noting that for over ten years, Flemingovia has been a pillar of the community of multiple regions in the world,

Applauding Flemingovia’s efforts to restore the legitimate government after coups d'etat in The North Pacific in 2004, 2005, twice in 2007, 2008, and 2010,

Recalling that Flemingovia spearheaded the resistance movement against the coup d’etat by Pixiedance in 2005, which went on to become the democratic government of The North Pacific, at the risk of public persecution and banning from the region,

Recognizing Flemingovia’s success in stabilizing The North Pacific as World Assembly Delegate in the immediate aftermath of Pixideance's coup d’etat, helping to secure the region from its occupiers and allow the legitimate government to establish itself under Flemingovia's protection,

Lauding Flemingiovia’s contributions to The North Pacific’s society, including being an outspoken defender of democracy and transparency and renowned folk songwriting,

Enthused by Flemingovia’s service as World Assembly Delegate of Taijitu in 2007, during which Taijitu was the one of the largest regions in the world, contributing to the still growing culture of the relatively young region and helping to recruit nations to join Taijitu,

Admiring the efforts Flemingovia made to assist The East Pacific in organizing their resistance movement while the region was under the control of a coup d’etat by Lady Phedre in 2008,

Appreciating the assistance, resources, and advice from experience that Flemingovia provided to the legitimate Lazarus government while Lazarus was suffering a coup d’etat committed by Stujenske and The Pacific in 2015, which included providing materials Flemingovia used in previous resistances, and methods to convince nations to join the resistance force,

HEREBY COMMENDS Flemingovia.

I encourage comments and criticisms on this draft.

Would it be possible to include more details about all of his efforts? I don't get a great idea of what he did in TEP, Lazarus, or Taijitu

The phrase "overthrow coups d'etat" in clause 2 sounds a little weird. Maybe change it to "stop efforts to overthrow the legitimate government"?
In=character, Kaboomlandia is a World Assembly member and abides by its resolutions. If this nation isn't in the WA, it's for practical reasons.

I will look into what I can add to these clauses.

Good idea. I used the term "coup d'etat" a few many times in the proposal anyway.

"Coups d'etat" is technically correct. Perhaps "Applauding Flemingovia’s efforts to restore the legitimate government of The North Pacific after the coups d'etat the region suffered in 2004, 2005, twice in 2007, 2008, and 2010,"

That being said, Funk, this is fairly vague on actual details. In regards to the Empire in TEP, I would contact the following people who might be able to expand on Flem's role in helping to restore the legitimate government: A Slanted Black Stripe, East Malaysia, Todd McCloud, Minineenee (Phedre herself), and Dalimbar.
Former thing.

Alright then, how about:

Admiring the efforts Flemingovia made to assist The East Pacific and organize their resistance movement while that region was under the control of a coup d’etat by Lady Phedre in 2008,

Appreciating the assistance, resources, and advice from experience that Flemingovia provided to the legitimate Lazarene government while Lazarus was suffering a coup d’etat committed by Stujenske and The Pacific,

I know enough about what happened in these occasions, but I didn't want to overload the proposal with a too many details and turn it into a short novel.

Yeah, that's better, Funk. Don't be afraid of making your proposal too big. Detail helps a lot in Commendations. :)

I'll search some posts tonight and see if I can help with better defining Flem's role during the occupation. I know he was doing stuff in TEP prior to the coup as well - just can't remember what.

As I understand it, most of what he did in The East Pacific was negligible for the purposes of a Commend. When Lady Phedre couped The East Pacific, no one really stepped up to lead the resistance, so Flem stood up to get people together and act as the cohesive force in the resistance. Perhaps that's a bit of a simplification, but it's how I've come to understand the situation.

I understand Flem may have provided some of the intel in regards to the condemnation of the Pacific. The authors of that particular resolution may be able to provide some insight for you.

"Applauding Flemingovia’s efforts to restore the legitimate government after coups d'etat in The North Pacific in 2004, 2005, twice in 2007, 2008, and 2010..."

I can't be the only one that finds this entire line to be laughably ridiculous.

To be fair, TNP has been relatively coup-free for some years now.

My WA nation will be voting "For". Flem was a dependable member of TWP's off site government for a number of years and his other work deserves this recognition.

It seems that at the rate the Security Council "Commends" various nations, it should be renamed the "Security Council Commendation Foundation". Maybe it is time that we create a sub-council within the Security Council that deals exclusively with matters of commendation, and the repealing of such commendations. We can call it the "Commendment Council", and it can have an elected chairman who is bestowed the title of "Commendant". This way, the Security Council can address pertinent matters of Global security, without the significant waste of time that is the repetitive passing and repealing of commendations.

The only other thing the SC does is liberations and condemnations. There is also nothing in the queue

The NLO in Exile in TRR (all 3 of us who are still active and still flying the flag!) opposes the resolution. The NLO continues to be the legitimate government.
