Same, though I can't actively contribute. I can help with idea feedback, though.

Cool beans! I'm thinking of placing it in a scenario where Athena - having beaten off the first, probing assault from the aliens successfully - is faced with a full-scale invasion of the European continent, bringing in regular armed forces and making the conflict very public. My initial thought was to follow a squad/group of survivors taking part in the haphazard retreat from the collapsed front while looking for some way to delay the aliens' advance. Though, I'm wondering if it would be better to have the squad be operating from some form of mobile base (aircraft carrier in the Atlantic?) so as to better have some 'down-time' for juicy char development :3

I like the idea of one leading into the other, although don't really know how to execute it (lack of OP experience rearing its head again). One thing I like about the 'retreat' is that it has a nicely wrapped up 'end' to work towards (i.e. successfully making it back to friendly lines). From there, new chapters could open up different theatres and all that jazz. Catch is attracting and keeping players interested for the openning

Action is always a good hook, you don't need to worry about keeping people around for the first act; most RP's suffer their attrition through the second and third. The trick is keeping things moving at a fast enough pace that people stay interested, but not so fast that anyone gets left behind or squeezed out.

Many just see it as a sort of cop out when inactivity is reigning and things are slow, so when an OP does this if feels a lot like an asspull and doing so leaves a bad taste in people's mouths. You gotta do it right. Twice I stopped posting in an RP because of this reason.
