[SC Only] The 50th W.A.R-con!

Postby Valyrien » Wed Apr 01, 2015 12:02 pm

The 50th Valyrien W.A.R-con (Weaponry & Army Revelations convention) is currently taking place in the desolated and frozen country. For the first time foreigners have been invited to attend and show of their countries military- as well as civilian engineering. Everything with military applications, from war machines to new and efficient ways of preforming surgery in primitive conditions will be put on display and in some cases available for purchase. All nations interested in buying or selling their products is welcome to attend under the heavy surveillance of the Valyrien military. The secrecy of their products will of course be respected and weaponry will not be inspected during shipment. The toxic and barren wasteland is a testament that there is nothing that can be done that the Valyrians are not already doing to themselves.

Image

Black snowflakes, colored by the fumes and smoke from the industrial complexes dotting the area looks almost magical whilst slowly drift towards the ground; Poetic in the sense that it is not permanent, as the snow is trampled by soldiers and machinery. Raised guns and shouting resulting in gunshots only reveals the underlining hostility of the harbor as fishermen are executed for trespassing and fishing on Valyrien waters. A detachment of soldiers, each lead by an officer missing an eye or limb greet the arriving ambassadors and military officials, strongly advising that they wear the gasmasks and don’t stray during the trip to the facility, all in the hope that they don’t return home with radiation poisoning or worse.

Image

Arriving to the convention, hosted in a renovated factory, the guests are offered refreshments. The one knowledgeable about Valyrien cuisine would be wise enough to avoid anything that has not been imported. Beverages, both alcoholic and soft drinks legally acquired or smuggled from a variety of countries are served to esteemed guests upon arriving and greeted by the Empress Valyra in person.

Image

Warmest of welcomes to Valyrien, a land of industry, destitution and war.

Joseph Dean, The newly elected Chancellor of Kudalia, brushed a lock of his fair hair from his face as he looked at his phone. He squinted his eyes at the sun obscured screen.
"So, Valyrien?" He asked to his secretary.
"Mister Dean, please tell me you didn't forget why we're going on this outing..."
"N-no! It's not that at all... I just couldn't help but notice we have never dealt with that nation before..."

Just then, a loudspeaker announced the arrival of the Volukris, the government's jet. Joseph took a moment to behold in it before turning to his secretary.
"Samantha, would you mind telling the pilot I'll be a moment? I have to send the empress a message."
"Certainly, Mister Dean."

Dearest Empress Valyra,

The Kudalian government has noticed that you are holding a weapons and arms convention. We would be most honored to attend this event, seeing as our weaponry has long since been outclassed by our neighbors. We shall be arriving in a matter of hours, so please do not mistake our arrival as a sign of hostility between our governments.

Regards,
High Chancellor Joseph Dean of Kudalia

NAMI (Head of Public Relations: Richard Denz), Neptune Shipyards (CEO: Gaius Maximus), and Wolf Den Inc (Head of Development: Itachi Tanaka), would all like to present their newest declassified creations in the fields of Military, and Intelligence. As well as a panel with North Covenant's central A.I.'s Descarte, Locke, and Voltaire. A copy of the Cores will be brought to the convention however we must ask for assistance with setting up a system to house them for their talk.

Representatives of the Kudalian government are invited as esteemed guests to attend this annual event and will not be treated with hostility upon their arrival. Councilor Drakkon will be welcoming and escorting you to the designated area. Please inform us if you will be in need of housing or other amenities during your stay in due time to avoid complications.

Our kindest regards,
Empress Valyra

The Valyrian government welcomes the North Covenant to Valyrien and desires to express their joy over such interesting contributions to the convention. Measures will be taken to provide the needed housing for what machinery you bring. The arriving representatives will be escorted by detachments of the armed forces and later accompanied by Councilor Svavelsten. If you desire to bring naval ships into Valyrian waters we would strongly advise having a guide from the navy to avoid mines and wreckage.

The Tukisian military is one of the most advanced militaries in the Charter, mostly due to the incredible funding. Heads of the military would like to attend W.A.R-con, and present some of the Tukisian fine arms, and possible buy Valryenian weaponry. The government has shown keen interest in Valrienian military technology, that in most cases is superior to the Tukisian counterpart.

We of the Valyrien government world be honored to welcome the heads of the Tukisian military to our country and the Free Tuks contribution to the convention. There is surely much that we can learned from the other when it comes to weaponry. Warmarshal Môrkerheim will be welcoming you to the harbour, please inform him of the potential dangers of the cargo you bring since measures might need to be taken. We look forward to your arrival and will accommodate your representatives.

The Volukris touched down on a runway near the convention. As the doors opened, Joseph made his way down.
Several heavily armored guards followed him, wearing expensive looking armor that seemed to be entirely for show, with such things as neon blue highlights and over-sized titanium pauldrons. Joseph wore similar armor, save for the addition of a decent sized sword at his side and a slightly more decorated helmet.

Joseph ordered his men to stand beside him as he awaited his welcome from the councilor.

A worn man dressed in a trenchcoat and breechers decorated with details in iron approched the waiting Kudalis. Subtle hesitations and limping made it seem quite painful for him to walk. A group of soldiers dressed in similar fashion followed in tow, moving with diciplin and in sync with each other's steps. The Councilor stopped and removed a gasmask covering his face, revealing a man marked by stress and sickness. "Salutations, I am Councilor Drakkon." He said and pressed an arm against his stomach and offered a faint bow. "It is a great honor that the High Chancellor himself has decided to attend the convention." The man said, speaking with a humble tone as he raised his head and inspected the gathering with grey eyes. A faint sense of curiousity was all that was revealed in the eyes of the elderly man as they fell onto the armour.

The man gestured towards a convoy of three armored transports, accompanied by several large and heavy machinery scarred by battle and rust. "If you would enter to armoured transports, you will be taken to the convention and the Great Empress Valyra where you will recieve a more befitting welco-..." He said before being interrupted by a soldier "Mina djupaste ursäkter Rådsmedlem Drakkon, men en damm storm är strax över oss..." He said with anxiety in his voice. Annoyed by the interruption, the Councilor merely nodded and spoke in a harsher voice "I offer my apologise, but if you would make and enter we can be on our way... A dust storm will be over us shortly, and our gasmasks alone won't protect against the toxic fumes and radiation it bring." He walked towards one of the vehicles with the soldiers remaining to escort the Kudalis.

To the Empress Valyra,

In light of your announcement that the 50th WAR-con will be open to foreigners, I, representing the Myraxian Combined Forces, request the privilege of your permission to attend.
Our nations are not so different that we should be so diplomatically distant. We believe that Myraxian attendance of this conference would be at least a step in the right direction for us both.

We await your reply.

To High Marshal Ovam Sylva,

The Valyrien High Council would be honored if representatives from Myraxia would attend the convention. Considering that we share a border, it is our understanding that we as nations would benefit from being closer in our diplomatic interests. A detatchment will be ready to welcome you upon your arrival to Valyrien.

An MCF Quadrotor, identification lights blinking, flew across the Myraxian-Valyrien border with very little ceremony to mark the momentous occasion - the first time an aircraft from either of the two neighboring nations had crossed the border with official backing. Three of the occupants marked the transition - the two pilots, for the purposes of navigation; and a figure dressed in a customized variant of Myraxian Special Operations armor, pressed into the seat by the multi-point harness. Her shoulder insignia indicates the rank of Marshal - one of the top echelon of Myraxian Command. A tarpaulin wrapped shape lashed down in the center of the cargo bay is the MCF's contribution to the convention - a single Gromov Pattern BCV; all that could be spared from the conflict with Iryllia.

Marshal Sharn Nykona dismounted from the lowered cargo ramp, the modular components of her helmet sliding up over her face as the prototype suit reacted to the poisonous weather conditions. Behind her, the men of her guard checked the neck seals on their older model suits. The whirring sound of the BCV's micro reactor powering up could be heard back in the depths of the aircraft. Flanked by her guards, the Marshal awaited the Valyriens.

Flanked by her guards, the Marshal awaited the Valyriens.

A rough storm whipped the black snow from the ground, making it hard to see any further than a meter or two ahead. It was hard for the human ear to make out any other sound except for the howling wind, yet one could have sworn to have heard a deeper howl more befitting of a beast. A lone figure emerged amongst the snow, the top of his head covered by a peaked officer cap and his face shielded by a gasmask. His trench coat and other clothing seemed similar to that of Councilor Drakkon, except for the bottom of the trench coat being far more tattered and decorated with far more details. The sound compressed air escaping could be heard as the gas mask was opened and removed, showing the youthful face of the Warmarshal. “How about that fresh Valyrien air...”

He said closing his eyes and taking a deep breath before flashing a wolfish smile once his focus turned towards the Myraxians. Pressing a clenched fist against his chest, he offered them a salute and a faint nod as a formal greeting. “I am Warmarshal Môrkerheim, dear friend of High Marshal Valyra and your personal “guide” to Valyrien.” He spoke in a solemn tone, yet a hint of sarcasm sneaked into his voice. His gaze swept over the gathering of Myraxians and wandered over their equipment with inquisitive eyes. “Please don’t mind the excessive “escort”, they are here to ensure your safety more than anything else.” He said and gestured to the left into the emptiness. “If you would kindly follow me, you will be escorted to the designated are-” He said before suddenly being having to scream over an ear numbing howl that cut through the storm “Oh, welcome to Valyrien!” The storm had begun to pass, revealing the massive shapes of spider-like machinery and the disciplined rows of soldiers estimating to be a hundred in number. The howl began once more, originating from one of the war machines.

Admiral Pommier glanced out over the international waters towards the smog hiding Valyrien. She had been charged with the duty of bringing the North Covenant Delegation to Valyrien. She, as most of the Admirals, wasn't on the best terms with Gaius Maximus. Frankly she thought he was a righteous ass, she would never say it to his face of course, but that man did know how to build war ships. This was Pommier's first time in charge of the newly proposed Limitless class Destroyer: NZT-48. It was suppose to be revealed in a few months time but this opportunity was to good to pass on. A lieutenant approached the Admiral

"Ma'am we have permission to land at the port of call.... well I can't pronounce the name but it has been entered into the nav system. They also ask if we require assistance navigating our way into port, Ma'am."

Before Admiral Pommier could respond Gaius Maximus chimed in as he entered the control room
"Tell them there is no need, we will be just fine, no debris will stop this ship."

The Lieutenant glanced at the admiral who gave her a silent nod of approval before turning to Gaius.
"Mr. Maximus..."

Gaius Maximus interrupted quickly
"please call me Gaius"

"Mr. Maximus" The admiral continued unfazed "I know you have much pride in your ship however I must insist that you vacate the Command Center.

"I'm sorry Michelle may I call you Michelle?" Gaius Replied

"No you may not" the Admiral retorted

Well that is a shame, any way Michelle although this vessel is in your care it is still an experiment until testing is over. I will be on this bridge during the duration of the next test." Gaius stated.

The Admiral could say nothing more.

She turned to her crew, as they finished preparations. "Are we ready?"

"Yes Ma'am a crew member replied"

"lets get under way then adjust our heading to the port of call."

The ship began to move once again. Towards the Valyrien Waters. Almost immediately the first mine field appeared. As it approached the mines, the massive destroyer rose out of the sea hovering just above the water. This was the secret of the Limitless Class its ability to hover above the water, undetectable to enemy submarines sonar, and to low for long range radar, the debris in the water was no concern for the ship. The only thing that could stop the ship was the cost to create it.

"I'd reckon it is easier to transport both you and your equipment all at once, but currently we will be doing things in the manner most suited to you, our esteemed guest of the neighboring state." The Warmarshal said with a grim nod. "We can bring it now or we can leave it here for later, preferably the first since some of my soldiers will be forced to remain behind to guard it." He eyed the quadrotor with suspicion.

As if suffering from a sudden blackout, the weapons powered down and allowed for the safe approach of the ship.

Blackened by smoke and snow, the buildings tarnished by rust, the area was depressive to just look at. A slight commotion in the harbour was all that gave the area life as a party awaited the arrival of the North Covenetians.

As the Noctish battleship Voita entered the fringes of Valyrien waters, a look of anticipation stretched across the collective faces of the Noctish delegation on board as they peered out the bridge's windows as they neared land. This was a first in the entire history of the Noctish Realm, to attend such an event in another country let alone one across the sea. A naturally bellicose people, the Nocts were nevertheless confined to their little section of Septen, the northernmost continent, for practically all of their history. That they were even this far from home was a sign of how times had changed.

Arturas, the ship's commander, gazed observantly out to the horizon - conveniently obscured by clouds of fog over the ocean waters. A radar ping confirmed that, somewhere within the obscurity there was another ship. "That must be the Valyrian ship..." Arturas mused, turning to the communications officer "...hail that ship and transmit the following message."

This is the Noctish battleship NNS Voita, pride of the Western Fleet. We are to transport a delegation to Valyrien and thus request guidance through Valyrian waters.

Gaius Maximus was the first off of the ship. He looked around with excitement in his eyes. He didn't see a dreary rundown town, which held the title, quite loosely of a port, but a great opportunity. He could see it rows, and rows of Shipyards, Dockyards, and Drydocks, all with Neptune's logo plastered onto the buildings. The scrap in the bay could be repurposed for commercial use in some of the first ships coming out, a collectors item to be sure! If he could secure a deal or two, his vision would be achieved quite quickly.

Itachi Tanaka was close behind Gaius. He was a thin lanky man, whose aura gave off a mousey feeling He was the type of man you would expect to be bespectacled. Only two scars on either side of is eyelids showed his cybernetic implants. He wanted to know everything around him all the calculations, all the information, and his new eyes gave it to him. Valyrien was infamous for their closed door policy, something that didn't sit well with him. Many of North Covenants greatest advancements in information technology had come directly from this mans mind. To Tanaka this trip was trivial pomp and circumstance, however if he could glean any information off of Valyrien, which was notorious for its closed door policy, the trip would be a success in his eyes.

Richard Denz came off of the ship in a miserable condition, the only thing worse then sailing was flying, and the boat managed to achieve both. He was in extreme protective gear even for the toxic air in Valyrien. He didn't want to be here, his company had forced this on him after an unsuccessful quarter. NAMI wanted to show off, but Valyrien had no interest in NAMI cars neither did the world. NAMI had been on the decline for years now, and they just didn't want to admit it. He practiced his pleasantries in is mind as well as his speech about NAMI snowy terrain vehicles.

The final three came off of the ship. Two of them were bickered back and forth attempting to gain more space within the shared space they held. Their was no room for their higher intelligence within the storage facility, only the base. Once they were given ample housing they would once again grow up. The other was peacefully resting in its own compartment. It could do so for the same reason its creation was outlawed. Every single cell held the memory of the whole, that is to say its DNA. Descarte was not like the other A.I's in fact they weren't even an AI, but an Artificially Enhanced Intelligence. while Locke and Voltaire were competing for memory space to expand themselves, Descarte had room to spare. As such they were elected the spokesperson of the group most of the time. Normally the group would interact but due to the lack of intelligence of the other cores Descarte was in complete control

In a voice much more metallic than Descarte was used to, to the point where they were taken back slightly when hearing it, addressed the party waiting for them.
"Hello.... excuse me may I present the delegation from North Covenant. From left to right: Mr. Denz, NAMI's Head of Public Relations; Mr. Maximus, CEO of Neptune shipyards; Itachi Tanaka, Head of Development at Wolf Den Intelligence Firm; and lastly Myself, and my companions, while we are all together feel free to call us The Cores"

I wrote this last night, but NS logged me out when I submitted it. Filled with rage I wrote it alllllll again, and two minutes ago after completing it for a second time my first draft suddenly reappears.... !#$#@!#@!$%!$ !$#%$%#$%!

On the fringes of the Valyrisk waters, the ship "Vfreden-af-gudar" as it was called looked rather terrifying and rediculous at the same time... The massive ship looked as if it had trouble staying afloat with the wide variety if weaponry and armour it had been outfitted. "This is Natas-... Salthulf, Commander of the heavy battleship "Vfreden-af-... Your request has been granted." A distorted message replied to the Noctish crew. The Voita was instructed on the route and slowely made it's way through the dangerous waters.

A grim looking party was waiting for the delegation from North Covenant, two seemingly high-ranking officers stood infront and by the tone of their voices arguing. One of them were badly burnt, his entire face once melted and patches of skin missing by his cheek revealing the teeth within. The burned man turned and walked away as the delegation arrived. "Greetings, I am a.. What you'd call the chief of development. Hjalmir Járngarde is my name. You are most welcome to Valyrien." The other officer said, a vague smile on his lips as he approched. There were sounds from the sea as what looked like three battleships entered the harbour behind NZT-48, closing it in. "If you would kindly follow me, I'm quite certain there's much we could discuss on the way." He gestured towards a waiting convoy.

Marshalk Koschei waited in the harbour to greet the Noctish delegation. The arrival of any other party can be hinted through conversation. We will be moving forward to a scene in the Valyrien wastes close to the harbour where the Noctish and North Covenant are docked. Food and refreshments await the delegations on large tables in the even larger hall decorated with banners and warmachines.

A ship enters the atmosphere of the planet. Remnants of the old colony still loyal to the Federation have found a way to open communications with the Federation. Being years since the invasion, the Federation has no way of knowing just how much has changed. An old spy that was placed among the Valyien populace with great secrecy has tipped the federation off about this event. Inside the ships are two Tokarii Jaegars (See Extra Units for info). Bal-Moor and Takeda are both spies and highly respectable hunters. The ship begins beaming messages to a local landing pad,
" Mayday, Mayday. Valyrien tower do you come in?"
The ship continues to hail the tower.
In the back Takeda puts on his helmet," Bal, put your helmet on, this world doesn't hold our air."
Baa-Moor looks at his student," This planet is beautiful in its own way. How I would have loved to had my first kill here..."
"Bal, this planet fought off an invasion, can people really do that?"
Bal-Moor laughs as he puts his helmet on," They didn't repel the invasion... they only got through the first wave. Remember when we land, look for ways in. We want to report back to high command about what we learn here. Play your part and we will be fine." He says with confidence as the back of the shuttle opens in the air. Below is the desolate wasteland of which the planet calls Valyrien
