Men of Steel: War in the Desert

Intro

You are brought down from your station in Italy to North Africa or are waiting for your Comrades there. North Africa is a hot Desert land that you think Claims more lives than the War itself. Many of you are Either Gunners, Loaders, Drivers or even Commanders of the Tank. Some of you are New recruits, were in the War since the very start or were already stationed in Africa. You all meet when you find the Tank you will be sitting in for the rest of the War. Tanks like the Panzer IV, The Panzer III or even the Panzer II. After coming straight off the boat and arriving at the camp Via Truck you look for your Crew and your Tank. Welcome to the Afrika Korps Soldat.

Notes and Important things
1. I will allow Female characters despite Historical Accuracy.
2. Don't be a Dip stick! Ditch! When your tank gets disabled beyond repair you should probably jump out.
3. Age Minimum is 20 Years old.
4. Using German in IC is allowed. (For Obvious reasons)

Bio: Born in Berlin, Germany 1916 his father served in World War 1 on a U-Boat in the Atlantic Ocean which was sunk in an Accident when it hit Under water land. His mother raised him while his father was gone and continued to teach Erich things from a long list of instructions his Father wrote before he left to war. From the instructions his mother read she made him Begin schooling when he was old enough. And when he completed High School he joined the Military when the war had just begun. He Participated in the Blitzkrieg of Poland as a Panzer II Gunner and became one of the best Gunners in his Division. after the Blitzkrieg he was given a choice if he wanted to be Sent to Africa as a Tank Commander or Stay in Europe. He chose to go to Africa in order to Help out there as he though that the Italians would need some help in Libya.
Civilian Life:Between High school and the Military he was a Tank Factory worker.
Experience(What makes you useful to the crew):In Poland he learned to have Good eyes allowing him to spot Enemy tanks in the blinding sunlight of Africa and Sand.

It was often rumored that since his father is stationed in Tunis, he himself applied to go to North Africa to be closer to his father.
Civilian Life: He was a pampered rich kid, he excelled in Astronomy in school, quickly becoming one of his passions.
Experience(What makes you useful to the crew): He's quick-thinking, and doesn't crack under pressure easily. He can also vaguely navigate at night using the stars.

Personality: Over the top- Johnny actually inspires his crew and crews around him with his larger than life personality, despite the war having shaped him on an extremely personal level.

Bio: Johnny was born during the turn of the century, and grew up in a turbulant world, one which the US mostly kept to itself. He was a good boy, but acheived mediocre grades in school. Despite his distaste for academics, he stayed in school until he was 16, before his schooling was finished and he took up a job as a paperboy. It payed a quarter a day, and Johnny found that he loved to ride on the top of the news van. When he turned 18 years old, WW1 had erupted in Europe, and the United States was just getting involved after the discovery of the Zimmerman Telegram. Outraged, like most Americans, he enlisted in the US army to go fight in France. When he arrived to the front, he was stuck in a trench for months, fighting over the same half mile of ground until the war's end. On one particular night, a German patrol attempted to sneak past his post. They slit the sentry's throat, and only when one of them dropped a grenade in the door of his officer's quarters did Johnny wake up. Bayonet in hand, he managed to kill 3 of them and wound one, while suffering only a single gunshot wound in return. His officer, on the other hand, was thouroughly dead. For his actions, young Johnny recieved the French Croix de Guerre, and a promotion to Sargeant, in command of his squadmates. The rest of the war was sat mostly in his quarters, filing through paperwork and new recruits to his unit. During the closing months of the war, Johnny had one last glorious ride atop a stallion, saber pointed and charging the enemy. The horse was quickly shot out from under him, but the feeling stayed with him all through his journey back to America.

America was a completely different place when Johnny got home, and he found a warm welcome waiting for him from all his family and neighbors when he arrived back home to New York. But Johnny couldn't shake the feeling of riding that horse, amongst all his allies, striking fear into his enemies hearts. He looked into buying a horse with money that he was earning from his dockyard job, but soon, disaster hit in the form of the Great Depression. Struck with poverty, his father and mother both passed away within years of eachother, leaving the family house to Johnny in 1925. Johnny scraped by on his wages, barely keeping his job when so many others were fired. Johnny watched his pensions melt away and the US government give him nothing but broken promises. The situation in 1935 was better, and Johnny finally raised enough money to buy his horse. Unfortunatly, the bank had repossessed his house during the derpression, so nearly all of his money went to purchasing the family home back for his 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Johnny was walking to his dockyard job when he spied a new poster for the US Army. It featured several men riding steel horses, and had some sort of jargon across the bottom. Figuring that it was better than his current job, Johnny walked in, quit, and headed to the nearest Army recruitment station. The next week, Johnny was shipped off to the US Calvary school, with his old Sargeant stripes on. Little did he know, that when he got there, he would be on a tank, an M2 light to be exact. Johnny had been chosen as one of 1000 candidates avalible for tank training. He met his crew, Brad Fredrick, Hans Belchuck and Adam Bronson there, all first generation Americans. The drills were excruciating, and that was before he even got to ride in the tank. But oh boy, when Johnny got to command that take, and take his turn in that seat, it was like the horse all over again. Showing proficiency with both spotting and directing fire, Johnny was promoted to Staff Sargeant and given a spot in the commander's seat of the M2.

Johnny stayed enlisted soley to ride in that tank, and by pure luck, managed to convince the rest of his crew to stay with him until '42. The M2 had been replaced by the M3 Lee, to be more specific, the British variant called the "Grant", and the motley crew had gained another 2 crew members. Christian Johnson and Raymond Nissan, both young cadets straight out of boot. The crew had decided to give them a surpise drill, on December 7th of 1941. But the military base was abuzz with chatter, that Pearl Harbor had been attacked by Japan, and that America was going to war.

Johnny and his crew were sent to Africa to help fight the Germans, instead of the Pacific, where each one of them wanted to go. They also recieved indefinate extensions to their enlistment. The fighting in North Africa was brutal, and Rommel, or the Desert Fox as many liked to call him, took a heavy toll on tanks. During the Seige of Tobruk, a German Pz III shell flew through Johnny's tank and killed Raymond. This was both a tradgedy and a relief for the crew, as they were secretly glad that it wasn't them. Johnny and the remaining four crewman snuck out of the seige, and reported to commanding office. They were all awarded bronze stars, and Johnny was promoted to Lieutenant. They were also given one of the few experimental M1A1 Sherman tanks, a supposed upgrade from the Lee. They were all skeptical, but as a few months went on, the crew developed a reputation for themselves among the Germans, who referred to their tank specifically as the "Tan Teufel." The crew rather liked this name, and painted it onto the barrel of their 75mm gun. With 39 confirmed tank destructions under their belt, Johnny and the crew, now confirmed tank aces, were allowed nearly free reign on their movements and setting up ambushes. And so the story continues for the Tan Teufel and crew from here.

Johnny scraped by on his wages, barely keeping his job when so many others were fired. Johnny watched his pensions melt away and the US government give him nothing but broken promises. The situation in 1935 was better, and Johnny finally raised enough money to buy his horse. Unfortunatly, the bank had repossessed his house during the derpression, so nearly all of his money went to purchasing the family home back for his 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Johnny was walking to his dockyard job when he spied a new poster for the US Army. It featured several men riding steel horses, and had some sort of jargon across the bottom. Figuring that it was better than his current job, Johnny walked in, quit, and headed to the nearest Army recruitment station. The next week, Johnny was shipped off to the US Calvary school, with his old Sargeant stripes on. Little did he know, that when he got there, he would be on a tank, an M2 light to be exact. Johnny had been chosen as one of 1000 candidates avalible for tank training. He met his crew, Brad Fredrick, Hans Belchuck and Adam Bronson there, all first generation Americans. The drills were excruciating, and that was before he even got to ride in the tank. But oh boy, when Johnny got to command that take, and take his turn in that seat, it was like the horse all over again. Showing proficiency with both spotting and directing fire, Johnny was promoted to Staff Sargeant and given a spot in the commander's seat of the M2.

Johnny stayed enlisted soley to ride in that tank, and by pure luck, managed to convince the rest of his crew to stay with him until '42. The M2 had been replaced by the M3 Lee, to be more specific, the British variant called the "Grant", and the motley crew had gained another 2 crew members. Christian Johnson and Raymond Nissan, both young cadets straight out of boot. The crew had decided to give them a surpise drill, on December 7th of 1941. But the military base was abuzz with chatter, that Pearl Harbor had been attacked by Japan, and that America was going to war.

Johnny and his crew were sent to Africa to help fight the Germans, instead of the Pacific, where each one of them wanted to go. They also recieved indefinate extensions to their enlistment. The fighting in North Africa was brutal, and Rommel, or the Desert Fox as many liked to call him, took a heavy toll on tanks. During the Seige of Tobruk, a German Pz III shell flew through Johnny's tank and killed Raymond. This was both a tradgedy and a relief for the crew, as they were secretly glad that it wasn't them. Johnny and the remaining four crewman snuck out of the seige, and reported to commanding office. They were all awarded bronze stars, and Johnny was promoted to Lieutenant. They were also given one of the few experimental M1A1 Sherman tanks, a supposed upgrade from the Lee. They were all skeptical, but as a few months went on, the crew developed a reputation for themselves among the Germans, who referred to their tank specifically as the "Tan Teufel." The crew rather liked this name, and painted it onto the barrel of their 75mm gun. With 39 confirmed tank destructions under their belt, Johnny and the crew, now confirmed tank aces, were allowed nearly free reign on their movements and setting up ambushes. And so the story continues for the Tan Teufel and crew from here.

Bio: Chris brown was born in the US to his mother and father both of whom of Germanic decent. Growing up he had a relatively traditional german upbringing including his faith in roman Catholicism among other things. He did however come to dislike alcohol to the dismay of some of his friends. When hitler rose to power Chris and his mother moved to Germany to 'do great things for the fatherland' while his father stayed in america earning the family extra money. Ultimately when he was able to Chris joined the rearmed and reformed Whermacht in hopes of becoming a tank commander, however in training he showed exceptional skill in field repairs and gunning large weapons and so he was transferred to the panzer corps. After his training completed just before the invasion of poland he was assigned to the 7th panzer division where he showed much skill. However with the invasion of France he found his love for the new fast form of warfare admiring the tactics of the commander of the 7th panzer division eirwin rommel.
Civilian Life: Chris in his youth was often found helping his father in the family automobile shop even going so far as to start taking over from time to time when his father was too sick to work.

OP you forgot the StuG 3. It was Germany's most common assault gun and at various points had almost equal numbers as panzer 4's (dont quote me on that)
