The more we speak the more I enjoy planning a naive, well meaning young (wo)man to be totally brainwashed by Soviet propaganda X3

But that might be infeasible.

Our biggest problem that we face is whats going to go down afterwards, and how It'll potentially affect predetermined lore. Essentially our biggest problem is nuclear weapons, facing the facts, if the soviets were to execute an invasion into Europe for whatever reason, nukes are going to be used, both on a tactical level (likely by nato in an attempt to slow down the russian advance.) and a operational level, (likely by Warsaw pact, firing nuclear weaponry on weapon depots, shipping yards etc and potentially major cities like brussels too) in retaliation.

A nuclear holocaust is avoidable, but the in a full scale war scenario I don't really see them not being used. That being said, the best way I imagine this going down would be that Warsaw pact would be using the return to their advantage, seizing power west Germany with one strike but not pushing aggressively into the rest of Europe, hopefully to avoid a world war three scenario. However, I highly doubt that one the smoke screen of the return dissipates, that the NATO wouldn't retaliate in some way (Although it could be small scale under the radar black ops operations similar to what the Americans did with the mujahideen in Afghanistan, training west Germans to fight and supplying them with weapons)

I'm not a cold war or military buff however, so If anyone else in this group has any other ideas on how this would go down, I would appreciate it.

as for afterwards, I'm not really sure, but I'd have some the warsaw pact make a buffer zone out of the hollow people to keep the insurgents away from major russian targets and what not. Maybe throw in a few massacres to boost anger on all three sides.

I remember hearing a couple of sources say that the Soviets would overrun mainland Western Europe within I think a couple of months time. Obviously nuclear response was probably not factored in. But remember though, this world suffered from a pretty bad economic crisis, and at least the Soviets are fighting out of desperation (mind you they're more brutal in this timeline, given Afghanistan, and that stuff implied with the Shah).

Still, a nuclear response is inevitable to happen in the RP, but when it happens, I plan it to sorta be very (maybe) limited to highest priority targets to force a ceasefire. But that's after they've exhausted alternatives. CIA, counterattack, holding a city hostage with nerve gas, etc. And it's likely the Soviets would do something similar to avoid it too. Now as far as they'll go before they're held up? The Madrid Front sounds like a nice name, don't ya think? :P

And yeah, loyal Nevidians would most certainly be used to buffer out partisans and insurgents. Being human shields most likely.

Whittington wrote:I've risen from the dead :p

What's going on guys?!

Is there anything good going on right now or in development?

Welcome back! And yeah what Gald said, this is basically the only thing going on right here.

Not just loyal Nevadians, there lack of knowledge on human culture is used to the soviets advantage so that they can essentially use them as easy recruitment basically as a knock off to violence and discrimination from the oppressed west Germans, who are rightfully angry about being forced from there homes to allocate space for the Nevadians with the buffer zone being a bonus in stop insurgents. That being said however, the soviets would still monitor them heavily and, likely the grunts, would not treat them with the fullest of respect, with some being sent off to "work" when the numbers start to get too high. That's what I would imagine anyway.

I'm aware the economy is bad, but if the Russians where to aggressively push into Europe past west Germany, then tactical use of nuclear weapons is inevitable as its (at-least by my understanding.) used on a doctrine level. The fact being that the soviets have the numerical superiority, NATO would likely use them to take out concentrated build ups. Plus if you think about it, a long war in Europe isn't really economically viable too.

If the Russians where to use the return purely to push into west Germany and seize it, it might be more acceptable if the majority of NATO nations didn't react militarily, with the exception of US black operations.

Again, if its perfectly alright for the lore for the soviets to blitz half of Europe then by all means do it, but I don't want it having knock on effects of rendering peoples uncannon in the event of a reboot.

You were correct in that it is a horror/supernatural genre set in a historical period not our own though :3

I assumed this place was long lost in the cosmic nightmare that is P2TM long ago when everyone just stopped posting right in the middle of brainstorming an RP.

I think Jess has given up on NS, so if we want the Op to be updated, a new thread is going to be required unfortunately.
