Weapons of Mass Destruction, initially a laughing joke of a concept due to the very nature of warfare itself, however thanks to recent inventions, the term may be able to enter regular vocabulary, and beyond theoretic concept.

Trebuchets have long been a deadly weapon on the battle field, especially against strong fortifications and enemy fortresses. However an ancient weapon has been discovered. The use of black powder leads to powerful bombs, once believed to be thrown by the now rare Giants, who may have had a great role in ancient Lordran under its rule of the Gods. This weapon, now under a refined age has been made smaller, but more advanced, allowing smaller balls of these objects to be thrown towards the enemy, and explode with devastating force, any army caught in the blast is good as dead, and fortifications fall within a single shot.

Concentration of a deathly miasma, rumored to belong to an old God of Death has been discovered and properly weaponized, it causes rapid decay, killing soil, foliage, and living things, ending them. And lastly vile curse filled bombs or rotten plagued meat are used as revenge tolls, for when the enemy must be condemned.

So far these have made the trebuchet a much more powerful, and far more devastating tool in warfare.

I appauld the OP, seriously, that's the first time I've read a WMD argument from the point of view of a medievalesque nation, that's brilliant.

As to WMDs, the Empire has four classifications of what constitutes a weapon of mass destruction, nuclear, chemical, biological, magical. Of the first the Empire posseses a piece meal nuclear arsenal, only 1,281 warheads total from artillery shells to IRBMs, chemical wise it is far vaster, as the Empire produces, maintains and stockpiles several hundred thousand tonnes of chemical weapons from simplistic chlorine gas to complex formulae such as VX and Novichok, of these chlorine is the most common. Biological weapons are banned in the Empire, under pain of very unpleasant things happening to those who delve into them and we have no reserves or active construction programs for them. WMDs of the Magical variety are relatively rare and owing to the nature of magic, used sparingly. First there are the "Kyanos" lances of the Ancient Empire, in excess of ten thousand years old these ancient rods are reminice of a knight's lance, albeit oversized and a dull blue in colour (hence the name), they have the power through some lost means to warp the fabric of reality around them, in the distant past this affect was used to devastating levels, changing the surface of our world, creating deserts, drying seas, rendering continents in half, there are twenty one Kyanos as far as our records show, three of these have been recovered by the Empire, two of them are in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth's National Museum of the Commonwealth in Krakow, Poland, the others remain lost. In addition to these there are large scale magical incantations which require no less than the most experienced spellcasters in the Empire (and indeed, the world) to cast them. The Empire is home to only one such person who can cast such a spell, Cornelius Andius, who is the current royal physician, among other things and has no interest in such things (at the moment), on top of these there are certain magical creatures, either of an arcane or divine (or even demonic) variety that can be harnessed to the detriment of the world. Though this has only occurred once in history, and we're not entirely sure when it occurred. The Darcsen God, Taen, once descended from his Heaven to the mortal world during a series of conflicts known as the Light Wars. He rendered reality a moot point, destroyed the construct of time and basically could have destroyed the world a thousand times over and there's no way we would know about it.

We do have WMD... Something created by Humans, Fallen Angels and Magicians. Never used before, and hopefully won't ever be used. This thing, the result of both Science and Magic, was deemed something "so horribly powerful and destructive that not even truly insane people would dare to use it". Honestly, we regret the day we created it. A law which would outlaw the use of such thing whatever the situation might be approved soon.

There is one WMD That has never been Used however, this WMD Is known as "The Emperors Mind." It is a Giant Space Station capable of taking on whole Military forces by itself and is capable of Self-Repair and Ship Reclamation (Capturing a Friendly or Enemy Vessel and Making it ready for use.) but if it is Destroyed then it will Release the Power of Several Suns going Super-Nova.

Tolmakia got rid of its WMDs (nuclear weapons) in 2012, and replaced them with thermobarric weapons. It does have 1 functional ICBM in its stockpile.

It also had a (super fail) orbital weapon that was equipped with Tungsten rods. It was constructed privately, seized by the government agency after discovery, and deorbited just this month. Its fragments entered the earth in December 7, down the Pacific Ocean. This information is neither denied or acknowledged by Tolmakia. The republic is still investigating into who exactly constructed it, and how the republic did not even know of its creation/deployment. According to some disclosed information, the weapon was not even capable of doing anything but communicating, making it "live" space junk.

The FSAJ acquires a variety of WMDs, like any other nation in the 2080s (even the Nineteen Eighty-Four simulation going on in Britain, has rocket bombs), and we have a massive stock of them.

• Redstone nuclear weapons: Redstone can hold ridiculous amounts of heat, and different gases. So, the redstone nuclear weapon was invented in 2038 by the USA. Through neutron bomb style detonation, the energy released is massive, dozens of times of old nuclear bombs from a century earlier. The insane amount of heat scorches any armoured units in the vicinity and the energy shock pretty much solves the problem of ugly buildings. One standard grade strategic redstone nuke in the 2050s can wipe out 5/9 of Shanghai.
  After its proclamation in 2073, the FSAJ also starts acquiring such weapons. Now, redstone nuclear warheads on missiles propelled by redstone are stocked in thousands, are cheap to make, and we own about 4,521 warheads. Production currently stagnated, since this weapon shouldn't be used much often.
• Antimatter explosives: As we all know if antimatter gets in military use then it's really nasty. Antimatter production is top secret and is undergoing by the Ministry of Experimental Science, however it has been known an antimatter bomb already exploded in Kuala Lumpur in 2061 before and in Chicago in 2071. Antimatter is still quite costly and yet such reactions involved in producing it has received considerable amounts of fruit. However, it is still under research stage. Most of the antimatter gets used in Vacuum Imploders however.
• Kinetic bombardment: Now equipped on our marine-capable space ships. (They aren't called starships since they don't match any of the criteria and are simply RA3 Imperial ships that float in space) The tungsten rods are replaced by more powerful and more cheap alloy rods that also collect more strength. Common space weapon, mainly deployed against enemy bases on Luna. More than 210 spacecraft able to fire this and more than 60,000+ rods are available.
• Redstone destruction beam: This is something you wouldn't want to see during teatime. Redstone's ridiculous heat holding abilities allows it to conduct energy beams, and they are now available in orbital ion cannons. This thing fires a several kilometre-long red beam full of heat and death to anywhere desired, killing everything and scorching everything. However one fire is costly and dozens of batteries are immediately drained. This is capable of destroying entire cities and kill millions, though our policy on superweapons don't often allow them to operate. 2 launcher platforms available.
• Vacuum Imploders are a more commonly used "field tactical superweapon". They form an artificial singularity upon detonation with help of antimatter and other high-grade explosives that is so intense the pressure collapses the area and sucks everything into it, only to be dwarfed by the bigger earth gravity. This hole is controlled, and sucks everything into it immediately, then collapses on itself again, forming an even bigger explosion that destroys anything left. Infantry are unfortunately turned into spaghetti. This weapon is often deployed on the battlefield and has been proved to be effective. About 2,100 available, antimatter required here much less than true "antimatter bombs".

We have all manner of WMDs at our disposal from nova triggers which are designed to explosively destroy a star and everything around it to weaponized nanotech as well as antimatter weapons and more mundane fission and fusion nuclear weapons.

The main purpose of having these weapons is as a deterrent since it is well within our capabilities of delivering an apocalyptic second strike against anyone who uses WMDs on us.

WMDs? well we have a well developed nuclear weapons division which mainly develops nuclear artillery ranging from 500T to 50KT, ICBMs are under constant development.
The Chemical weapons division is much more expansive and developed, the empire has thousands of tonnes of chemical weapons, mostly neurotoxins that are heavier than air and long lasting high power defoliants that kill the land around it for years and poison animal life.
Biological WMDs are lacking behind in funding compared to the other divisions but have made massive progress with a deadly prion based pathogen that spreads quickly and causes no symptoms until the hosts sudden death due to multiple underlying complications.
resent research into nuclear physics have led our military to try and weaponise a particle accelerator... with limited results, so far the prototype is a mile long but can cook a microwave ready meal in less than 5 seconds! However Mag weaponry is actually making good progress with a normal bullet being accelerated to mach 2 in test conditions with a reasonably sized barrel, possible new way to deliver nuclear devices to target locations.

Nuclear weapons are widely used on a tactical level, ranging from low-kiloton antipersonnel missiles to multi-megaton shaped charges. Those generally aren't considered WMDs at the scale of modern warfare, though.
