Then why punish the groups engaging in non-harmful activity instead of fringe groups? You believe that killing cattle for food is wrong. If you were to organize in an effort to raise awareness of the slaughter of cattle throughout the world and some people attacked you, would you argue that you were in the wrong and ought to be prohibited from raising awareness about something you believe in? If you are going to apply the same standard you are applying to them to yourself, then you must see the situations as the same. The peaceful protestors aren't the problem; the violent rioters are.
