[PASSED] Repeal Condemn North Korea

Postby Ramaeus » Fri Oct 03, 2014 7:08 pm

The Security Council,

Noting that regions have a right to sovereignty, regardless of the prevailing international opinion, and aware that nations willingly reside in regions in which the governmental structure deprives them of said rights,

Believing that accruing an “empire" of several hundred regions is not an action worthy of note by this esteemed council, as many of those regions were minuscule, which effectively minimizes the impact of those refounds, thereby rendering that action unworthy of the attention of this council,

Emphasizing that, while North Korea's raid of Benevolent Capitalism is regrettable, it did not affect any nation outside of Benevolent Capitalism's influence, thereby effectively rendering the fourth clause in SC#158 null,

Acknowledging that North Korea's refound of Slavya is the only noteworthy act contained within SC#158, and aware that, while it is a condemnable act, it is the only action of North Korea's listed in SC#158 which may be called such,

Finding SC#158 nearly devoid of material which may be used to justify a condemnation of North Korea,

Further Believing that the Security Council must be kept to a higher standard than the one presented in SC#158,

Hereby Repeals SC#158, “Condemn North Korea”.

Uhh Ramaeus, why are you voting for Condemn North Korea?

You wanna repeal the resolution your currently helping pass? It's still early and fairly close, if you and some of the other larger delegate switch votes, might be able to prevent it from passing.

I explained why I'm voting for the condemnation in the OP...

If I were writing it I would not use "nearly devoid of material" in the Finding line. To me at least, devoid means "completely without" so it sounds like one of those cringe-worthy 'almost completely' phrases. I would say "lacking sufficient evidence" or such. Though it is entirely possible that devoid should not carry that meaning to me, and I've just added those connotations, so just a suggestion from my viewpoint.

Other than that looks great, and obviously I support either way.

Oh, wow, that was a quick submit. The resolution wasn't going to bite anyone.. Oh well, I can live with the wording.

Perhaps point out that the author of "Condemn North Korea" has an obvious anti-communist bias, and his own region has raided other regions. Also of note is the fact that that their constitution actually states:

"Citizens and visitors must also respect the constitutional laws of North Korea. North Korea is not a bourgeois free speech region, oppressive language and attacks on the oppressed and exploited under capitalism will not be tolerated (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, cisism or any other form of oppressive language will not be tolerated)"

Reality has an anti-communist bias... Or did you forget that your region is named after a dead civilization? I'd bet even money that the real NK doesn't make it past 2020.

Just because they say something on a website doesn't necessarily make it true. When was the last time they did something decent that wasn't in the name of "promoting the revolution?"

When Gay Equality (a center-left region) was invaded by nazis, where was the totalitarian left? It was Libertatem, UCR, and Gay who ended up repelling the invasion. Unlike North Korea and its ilk, Libertatem and its allies will always stand in defense of human rights- not just when it's expedient.

Liberation just removes regional passwords. I wish the WA could just take away their power to banject nations- it would be like taking away their regional past-time. Having to tolerate any genuine debate on their home turf would probably make their heads explode.

You also have a clear anti communist bias. The point is that the condemnation was based on twisted information and hypocrisy, and probably should not have been approved in the first place. If you are here to bash communism I suggest that you leave.

You have my full support. North Korea does not deserve a Security Council Condemnation. Many of my fellow delegates have also pointed out the hypocrisy of Libertatem in condemning North Korea, but I won't get into that side of things.
