It's been suggested before, but with what I know about how people use systems, I'm of the opinion that only a minuscule percentage will ever tick that checkbox.

FWIW, I have some old puppets I'd release if you gave me the option. (Assuming I noticed it was there.)

We have a Latin alphabet of exactly 26 letters and 10 numbers. The sheer amount of names you can think up with this amount of letters and numbers is immense, and even if the entire world population suddenly registered 3 accounts on NationStates right on this day, there would still be a massive amount of names left to choose from.

I created this nation name because of several "name taken" attempts. I also have some puppets named "New Whatever".

There are plenty of random name generators out there that you can use. Try something with at least 7 letters

The more fixed option might be to just make a release button for nations who want their nation name to be released to be reused.

That's nice of you, I still think most people wouldn't enable the option if it were available, but do you even have puppets that people would want.
