Has Political Correctness in the USA gone too far?

Postby The Predator Federation » Thu Sep 11, 2014 5:04 pm

These days you're not really allowed to say what you want however it's not the government that is limiting your freedom of speech, it is the people. These days you cannot express your opinions for example Redacted/Removed Without some offended teen going up to you and hitting you and basically just shaming you. (Yes this has happened several times) So what do you think NS? has political correctness gone too far or is it fine where it is

EDIT:
Okay I used a pretty bad example but you get the point

That's a really fucking shitty example to use.
If you actually said that then no wonder they got in your face.

Man, with what you said, what the hell were you expecting? That was a disgusting thing to say, you should have been condemned.

Actually, if you've never been raped, then you probably deserve enormous shame for saying such a thing, and shouldn't be surprised when someone hits you. You have the right to say these things. Others have the right to mock you and otherwise treat you mercilessly in response. "Freedom of speech" does not mean "I have the freedom to say what I want, but you have no right to state your negative opinion on what I've said".

The fact that people get offended by saying that rape is not as bad as most people think is emphatically not an example of political correctness going too far.
Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.

Notice how most of the time when you hear someone scream political correctness it's just them being really fucking ignorant and being called out on it.

It has gone too far. The fear some people have about "evil racists" is ironically similar to the Red Scare.

Give me a real world example that can be fairly compared to the Red Scare.

The point of it was to be disturbing if someone said that would you punch them? Yeah its a pretty horrible thing to say I agree. However is the reaction to assault someone because of that necessary?

But it doesn't demonstrate your point. Why use it?

Bullshit.
Care to cite any such fear-mongering?

Depends. While I'm against violence, I can certainly sympathize with the temptation to use it, especially if the person doing the punching is a rape survivor. Pick a less fucking awful example if you want people to be on your side.

My high school wouldn't let us put on a performance of westside story because they thought it was racist against Hispanics.

Seeing as how 1 in 4 women in the US have been sexually assaulted it would sure as fuck be justified.

And this is nowhere near equal to people being accused of being communists and fired from their jobs.

It's "West Side Story", not "westside story".

And that's no comparable to the Red Scare, in which thousands lost their jobs, prominent actors, screenwriters, and directors were driven into exile or forced to hire "fronts" to pretend to have written screenplays they'd created, and government employees with spotless records were stripped of security clearances without due process based upon baseless accusations or long-forgotten memberships in civil rights organizations.

First of all that's not the whole statement, The whole statement is this
"One in four women have either been sexually assaulted or have sexually assaulted someone else" Yes its true
Second, I dunno if violence is the answer probably not a very good one if it is.

Is that what you think political correctness is? Punching people in the face when they say horrible, indefensible things?

My high school did put on a performance of West Side Story but we had to change a line mentioning "condom" to "thingy" because it offended the sensibilities of our Morman headmaster. Fucking religious people shitting all over freedoms....right?
