If you could be the dictator of the country you live in for a day, what would you do first?

I live in the USA, and if I could be dictator for a day, I'd pretty much turn us into a "Scandinavian liberal paradise".

First, I'd institute a single payer health care system. Then, I'd enact stricter gun control laws. Then, I'd create an actual welfare state. I'd pass an emissions trading scheme or a carbon tax. I would abolish tuition on public universities. I'd raise the minimum wage and make sure people get paid vacation days, etc. I'd also change the electoral system to a parliamentary system with proportional representation for when my dictatorship ends. I'd also limit private funding of political parties and campaigns, block corporations, unions, and super-PACs from spending whatever they want on getting someone elected. I'd also legalize same-sex marriage and marijuana. Also, just for shits and gigs, I'd make a national holiday for the celebration of pizza. (and it'd be a paid day off, of course)
I mean, I'd also look at abolishing the whole Tea Party but I guess I could leave political freedom in place.

Make things like Gay Marriage, Polygamous, Abortion, and Recreational Drug Use legal and regulated. From there, probably cut military funding and divert it to mainly developing universal healthcare (private options would still exist).

I would then start beefing up our education system, such as teaching evolution and to emulate Finland's education system. I would also start to regulate private schools so they can't teach bullshit, and I would remove things like "Under God" from the pledge and "In God we trust" from our motto and money.

I would also raise taxes on the wealthy even higher, and with that money help to subsidize, and if there was enough money, to completely pay for college and advanced education for all students, and I would also tax major religious institutions that are making a surplus profit. I would also begin to divert funding rom other areas to help develop alternative energy (such as Nuclear, Geothermal, Solar, and Wind). I would massively limit the political power of corporations, give more subsidies to small businesses, break up monopolies, raise minimum wage and force all states to at least meet the requirement. To help cover other expenses, I would raise the petrol tax, and create a carbon tax (which will also help the environment).

I would begin Stem Cell research, give more money to our Space Program give subsidies to biofuels and farmer's that are not doing very well. I would also begin to nationalize the federal reserve so money that goes into circulation doesn't already have a debt on it. I would raise the driving age to 18 also.

That's really all I can think of right now. Though, to bad I couldn't do all that much in one day.
