What are your political beliefs?

Postby Othelos » Wed Jul 09, 2014 3:35 pm

Inspired by the thread that was closed because of the two word OP, what are your political beliefs, and why do you hold them?

I personally support individual freedoms completely; I think that all people should be able to do anything they want (as long as they aren't harming someone else or their property). I also think the state should ensure a basic standard of living. Human prosperity + freedom will eradicate social problems.

What about you?

My political beliefs were invented in a grungy coffee cafe in pre-Starbucks Seattle while the progenitor and his Velma-looking girlfriend of four months listened to Turkmenistani pop music on the radio.

You've probably never heard of it.

Now that that's out of the way: libertarian, usually rightist. That's about as specific as I can get.

Well, anarcho-primitivism aside, I guess I could be considered a socialist who believes in small capitalist influences, and very socially libertarian.

I would consider myself center left although I may be considered Left by some people. I consider myself a Social Liberal.

Im a Far Left winger, Communism and Socialism are my primary orientations, alot of it is due to my upbringing, i live in a poor area and everyday i see people getting sidelined or screwed over by the current capitalist oriented economic and societal setup so i quickly fell in line with socialism and communist ideals as i see them as much better solution, sure they are idealistic and hard to implement, mainly communism but its what i believe in and im quite stubborn when it comes to what i believe in.

Im also a minor nationalist though it is left wing nationalism and is largely due to my background as a member of the nationalist community here in Belfast. Though i dont concern myself with it a lot.

Also nice work on the new op, much better.

I'm an Islamo-communist with fascist influences, and I believe everyone except me is subhuman and should be gassed with rainbows and flowers because I also support global happiness (an ideology where the world government is in charge of brainwashing people to be happy by murdering their families and sellotaping cacti to their nipples). I also believe every politician is in fact an intergalactic cheese salesman, and we must all buy extra mature Pluto cheese or they will zap us with a completely harmless toy laser gun.

Social issues: generally left (pro anything that doesn't directly impede a person's right to do as they please)
government spending issues: extreme right (i.e. government is primarily for infrastructure, national defense and national intelligence. It's your responsibility to feed and clothe yourself. It is not government's job to make sure you "have a job", nor is it your 'right' to have a job, it's your right to compete for a job with everyone else. Willing to agree that if the people want government assistance when times are hard, it should be a loan, subject to interest, instead of an entitlement. Willing to agree that if you are wholly unable to fend for yourself (i.e. mentally disabled, physically disabled except the morbidly obese) then government can and should absolutely take care of you. All government leaders should have spent some time in active duty military. Would love to see a politician selection system that mirrors the jury selection system. Best efficiency industry solutions should always be considered first, and government regulators should have a say on what is most efficient; however, industry, the local populace and government should work together to come to an amenable solution. Unwilling to agree that religion has any place whatsoever in government, they should remain separate with the intention of treating all religions equally (again, as long as they don't directly impede a person's right to do as they please). Undecided on abortion (i.e. what constitute's "life", at what point is the person having the abortion responsible for ending a life, etc.) I am pro nuke, and pro nuke power. I am not explicitly anti-green, but I am anti-greed (power hungriness on both sides of the aisle).

strong belief in personal freedoms as long as you don't interfere with anyone else's right to do as they please.
