Serpientes de Muerta: Recruiting

Postby Puerto del Tortuga » Fri Jun 13, 2014 3:04 am

Serpientes de Muerta

I got tired of all these regions filled with empires, kingdoms and all them milk-drinking, pox-faced noble Lords and Kings and Princes. Also these presidents and rulers playing at democracy and libertarianism like a filthy sea bass in a barrel of piss and rum and thinking what a great ocean he's swimmin' in!

Bah! I founded Serpientes de Muerta to get away from the lot of them! The Snakes of Death, is a group of islands, coves and sunken ships where no Empire, Kingdom or Government dare traverse. The people rule themselves and no one tells anyone else what to do.

If they want to submit to La Reina Pirata and become her Almirante, that's their own choice, but each man or woman is the king or queen of his or her crew and no one can do a thing about it. They can do whatever they want in the region, for better or for worse.

Speaking of total freedom, you know what I think of your raider status or defender status? You can eat a slimy sea slug! I plan to make Serpientes de Muerta a Mercenario. We will raid or defend other's regions based on what they can give us in return. That should make for an interesting time, two sides trying to outbid each other for the Pirata's help. But I digress, that is a long time coming. I must first have Capitans and Capitanas and other exiled, unwanted, nations looking for a home that will accept their "scum of the world" attitude and demeanor. Come claim one of the beautiful islands in The Snakes.

You can help me build a fun, crass, dark humored, careless region or you can just drink rum and wench your days away, I am completely happy with both.

May your bow find calm seas and your pockets line with gold!

If each person is the king or queen of a crew, then their crew would also have a crew (each). So your solution to no government is everyone runs their own government?

I am. I'm the only one there

More on Caribbean. Mostly basing on pirates general/historical pirates

First, how would a crew have crews each? a crewman is one person. And no. The solution to a large, compulsory government is everyone can run their own mini government. Isn't that what regions are all about, anyway?

It's just we're a region whose government won't force any ideology on you, won't force you to do things, won't tell you what needs to be done. It's true democracy and true libertarianism like what the real pirates of history intended. Everyone gets a vote and everyone gets a cut.

I like the idea, if I have time in my hectic schedule, I may drop a puppet in.

Thank you. I hope more people drop in, puppets are accepted. It's a lonely life a pirate leads and even lonelier when you're the only pirate around

Here's a question:
Why is your region called Serpientes de Muerta instead of Serpientes de Muerte?

Giving in a feminine lean makes it eerie. Like a banshee in the night. A siren out sea.

Even when your region would be called Snakes of Dead instead of Snakes of Death?

It's Snakes of the Dead. Not Snakes of Death.

Serpientes de Muerta is most certainly not translated as Snakes of the Dead. The correct phrase in Spanish would be Serpientes de los Muertos. :P

Meh, I made a rough translation. Non spanish speakers wouldn't be bothered by the name anyway. Snakes of Dead it is then.

EDIT: I asked around, it does mean Snakes of the Dead or The Dead Snakes. Both of which I'm alright with.

It most certainly does not means that. Take it from a native speaker of Spanish. Serpientes de Muerta means Snakes of Dead. Anyways, I'm not saying that you should change the name, just pointing out the inconsistency.

Yeah, well this is NS, so I think a sort of minor creative change won't make a difference.

Just consider it a symbol of your regional culture. Not only does Serpientes de Muerta rebel against the ideologies of the R/D community and against the notion of imperialist government, it also rebels against the Spanish language! ;)

Seems like an interesting region. Best of luck!
