The Fleet Admiral looked over his shoulder as he strolled down the grand hallway towards the throne room, the Imperator had summoned him from his post on Sangre; one of the planets current under colonization by the Bastion. Apparently, the Admiral was being summoned to discuss circumstances that were grave and critical to the security of New Redux. As he approached the grand oaken doors of the aged building, the Starlegion Lieutenants saluted the Admiral before opening the door for him. Before he crossed the threshold, a voice called out to him at the far end of the room, "Thrindel, there is much to discuss." The Fleet Admiral flinched when he heard his given name spoken so carefree, Thrindel had earned his reputation as no nonsense Commander who consistently demanded perfection of himself and his subordinates. He oversaw the entire Legion in the northern sector of the system, no easy task.
"Thrindel, I am afraid that I have bad news for you." The Imperator rose from his feet and walked towards the Fleet Admiral, clasping his hands before continuing." Scouts seem to have found a number of unidentified objects traveling in from the north. While they have yet to officially enter the boundaries of our system, we are concerned about who or what it is. There are no known civilizations around us, and we have not sent any expeditions into the fringe for months. Now I called you back here because we need to formulate a strategy on how to handle this. As we have never encountered a civilization advanced enough for space travel."
The Fleet Admiral stood straight and rigid, although he had felt as if he had been smacked in the face. " Imperator, if I may, I must be out in the field. What if this is a hostile force, I need to give orders to my men." The Imperator turned from facing the Fleet Admiral and paced slowly towards his throne," Thrindel, you are right. But I have another objective for you. Now that we know that there may be others out there like us, we need to be able to protect ourselves. The objective of the Starlegion may no longer be the to Preserve and Protect. I have a Starship ready for you, return immediately to Sangre and direct your men to initiate contact. Hologram me when there is a response." The Fleet Admiral mutely nodded and proceeded to leave the throne room, his mind elsewhere as again the lieutenants saluted him and escorted the Admiral to his Starship.
