So, I was thinking for a while, and I wondered if people conceive of Satan as a real thing or unreal. Now, for my own part and from a Christian point of view, I conceive as Satan as very real and the chief tempter of humankind. So I ask you, O NSers, do you believe or feel that Satan is real ? If you don't believe in Satan because you are of another religion or philosophy, do you have a figure or force of evil in your religion or philosophy ?

Nope. I have personal proof, but nothing that would convince an atheist. Of course, it would be hard to convince an atheist since they believe in nothing.

But it has such a huge impact on culture and viewpoints, thus it deserves an open dialogue of debate. The only reason why people are averted by religious debates is because we've been trained by our society that religion is not something that should be discussed. Thus, people are shaken out of their comfort zone and become defensive due to the fact that most of the time it is the first time their viewpoint, opinions, and beliefs may have been critically challenged.

I'm an agnostic. Therefore, I don't believe in Satan, because I don't follow religion and don't believe in that form of deity.

Beyond that though, I don't believe Satan really even make sense in religion. After all, an all powerful all loving God, allowing the embodiment of evil to exist and torture his flock? Plus there are so many religions that don't believe in a Devil...

In scientific terms, the burden of proof is on the person making the claim to prove the claim. I can say "There is an invisible unicorn next to me" and you may say "What evidence to you have?" and then I retort "What evidence do you have that it doesn't exist?"
Refusing to supply evidence to claim is evidence against the claim because it implies a lack of evidence and thus a lack of justification for the belief.
