Behind the Curtain
Part 6

After the revolution, the people gather at Vortuga left the city and spread forth. They proclaimed the word of Johan Yidka to all they could find. They all settled into small farming communities that dotted the Island of Carialus. Each one built upon the foundations of Johan. For now, all was at peace as each little Utopian town found serenity through isolation. Since they blocked off the outside world, they did not know of the revolutions in engineering and technology. It was as if they were living in a fool's paradise. However, sometimes ignorance is bliss. Life went on, the nation of Carialus prospered agriculturally in its isolation and the people were content, down to the very last farm hand.

The farmhand stood there, broad shouldered and tanned from years of toil. However, the relentless work was not completed with sorrow or contempt, but with joy, as the fruits of his crops were to be put on his community's table, not in some other nation's hands. With this in mind, a quick whistling tune would escape his lips from time to time as he did his hard farm labor. Ever so often, it would turn into song, which would result in other farm hands joining in the jubilation.

We came upon this land
In the ancient times.
Sisters, brothers, mothers, and fathers,
Oh, all different kinds.

We churned up the soil,
Planted seed, and took up root.
With joy, we were free;
Joy was sounded from the horn and flute.

But then the dark times came a' rumbling in
Like a storming thunder head.
It came like a lashing whip
Trying to strike us dead.

"Oh no, Oh no," we did cry
With eyes glaring with contempt.
The evil has come, come to stay.
What should we attempt?

And so were rose up to our feet,
Sword and shield in hand.
And charged upon the infidels
Like a glorious thundering band.

We smote the evil invaders
And watched as their bones turned to sand.
Then we gathered at Vortuga
To see if we needed a guiding hand.

"Oh no, oh no,"
Johan Ydika did shout.
But Hans Kovalcik took over,
An act that would make God even pout.

Clearly, yes clearly,
Something had to be done.
For truly, there has to be one free place
On this Earth, under the Sun.

So Johan went about
Declaring justice and comradeship.
Oh that fool, Kovalcik,
Yeah, he gave no lip.

Finally the time had come
To reclaim our God given right.
For it is our destiny
To win this fight.

The farmer and the worker
Rose up from the Earth.
Shouting thunder and splashing lightning
Like a thunderous rebirth.

Kovalcik was slain,
By the hands of people.
And the people rejoiced.
The bells rang in the church steeple.

At last we were free
From bondage and aggression.
Now here, gathered together,
Community is my only passion.

The soul complete; the prophecy redeemed.
We stand here broad and tall!
For centuries this song will sound
So we can remember it all.

Sorry for the late cutoff folks - when real life rears its ugly head!

Speaking of late cutoffs, my grandparents will be here tomorrow and Monday, so I'm not sure if I can commit to any time then for a final match cutoff. Again, sorry about that.

Results shall be up shortly!

EDIT: Looks like an exciting match!
Hutt River 1–1 Eastfield Lodge (1–1 AET) (3–2 pen.)
Congratulations to the winner, and commiserations to the loser.

EDIT 2: Formatting.
