What Religion do you follow?

Postby Reinnapani » Fri Dec 18, 2009 8:06 am

What Religion do you follow? (if any)

Why do you follow that religion?

How did you find that religion?

Do you think it is the right religion for you and why?

Also if you do not follow a religion do you think that there is a god?

I don't.
Tried a few, found them all a bit silly, and settled on good old nothing.
"I was walking along the bank of a stream when I saw a mother otter with her cubs. A very endearing sight, and as I watched, the mother otter dived into the water and came up with a plump salmon, which she subdued and dragged on to a half-submerged log. As she ate it, while of course it was still alive, the body split and I remember to this day the sweet pinkness of its roes as they spilled out, much to the delight of the baby otters who scrambled over themselves to feed on the delicacy. One of nature’s wonders: mother and children dining upon mother and children. And that’s when I first learned about evil. It is built in to the very nature of the universe. If there is any kind of supreme being, I told myself, it is up to all of us to become his moral superior."

Catholic.

I feel it is the truth, based on my reason and past experiences.

I found Christianity sort of by chance. I was opposed to it, but a book kind of turned me back onto it. It didn't turn me Christian, but it made me respect Christianity as a valid worldview. The book made me read the Gospels more, because I realized that in my earlier Christian years (ages 0-10), I hadn't really learned much about this Christ that everyone was talking about, except that He died for me. Though, without the broader context, I didn't really appreciate what that meant.

So, over the next few months after reading this book in July 2008, I slowly inched toward Christianity, finally converting in January 2009 at age 18. (EDIT: Here's the book. It isn't apologetics, per se. Just a guy talking about his love of Christ and desire to live his life out in a more just, Christian way. I found it inspiring.)

From my nondenominational Christianity I found Catholicism through the Mass. A good friend of mine invited me to her church with her. Prior to this, I had thought Catholics were, to quote the old adage, "sincere, but sincerely mistaken" about Christianity. However, the Catholic liturgy, the emphasis on Jesus and the Gospels, and on Scripture in general, had a very strong emotional impact on me. So, I decided to give Catholicism a fair chance, and began to research, ask questions, etc. It took a while, but I finally decided that the Catholic Church was the One True Church established by Christ through His disciples.

I think Catholicism is the right religion for everyone, and I pray that all of mankind will, somehow, be united in Jesus the Christ.

What Religion do you follow? Catholicism.

Why do you follow that religion? Because it's the one that's been right all along.

How did you find that religion? Brought up in it.

Do you think it is the right religion for you and why? Yes, otherwise I'd have left. Because it generally has an answer for everything in our world and most things fit with it. Also, it would be naturally good foresight of Jesus to leave behind away of carrying on his message.

I don’t follow any religions, and I don’t believe in any gods. I’m just an agnostic atheist.

Yu know if you think about it Humans are imperfect. Right?

Is not all religion preached, or made by man?

If this is so than religion is imperfect?

Kind of, it is hard to explain; on some level it means that often people only acquire meaning and are 'understood' after death etc.

Yes, humans are imperfect. That's why they need God to give guidance to make them more perfect.

No, religion comes from God. I don't think you'll find any religion that will not claim to have been set up by a divine being.

But it ain't so.

He is. He's just hoping they will see what he perceives as the errors in their beliefs and convert. It's not as though he's got a colonial hat on and holding a Maxim gun to your head, holding a Bible with the other.
