Postby Nazi Flower Power » Thu Mar 27, 2014 11:33 pm

Heil NSG!

We all love arguing about politics on NS, but how many of us actually get off the computer and do something about it IRL? What sort of political activity are you involved in? How much do you feel like you really make a difference?

I've voted a few times, knocked on a few doors, and made a few donations to civil rights groups; but never been a serious activist. I get frustrated because it's hard to see how what I'm doing on an individual level really matters. It's hard to pour your heart and soul into political activism when it takes so long to get any results, and the results are always uncertain. What with me being a Nazi, it is probably just as well that I am lazy.

The problem with donating to activist organizations is that it's hard to find one that I entirely agree with, and I don't want to give my money to an organization that is going to use it to promote ideas I disagree with. Also, I am broke.

My real views are too radical to get politically active in real life so the closest I ever done was having pseudo-libertarian discussions with some friends and family.

That's pretty much it. Might get into voting next year.

For so long, Mankind has been plagued by division. Division by culture, creed, skin color, religion and nationality. These very divisions have been the cause of most human conflicts. But in the age of globalism, we can finally have that chance to implement a world government where all human beings are seen as equals. Isn't that what everyone wants? World peace? I do. You should support that too. It may not end all conflicts, but the reductions of Man on Man violence will be at an all time low when the entire planet gets administered by one governing body.

Somewhat.

I vote and write to my congressmen. I'm a member of the Democratic Party, but don't really participate in it.

Not very active. Perhaps later.

Although I am on a student advisory council for California's 19th Congressional District.

You should. State conventions are fun, especially as a delegate. It's like "hey, it's ok to be politically nerdy as much as you want." Like seriously, most of my friends are politically retarded. My best friend is a slightly racist/homophobic conservative, and my other good friend is a Filipino nationalist whose reaction to me every time I discuss anything political is to say "fuck America. America can go to hell" even though he lives and is getting his education here.

And all my girlfriends, exs, whatever, OMG. I'd be happy if they even knew how to vote.

If by politically active you mean bitching and moaning when something goes wrong, yes. Extremely.

I talk about politics in school and sometimes I will wear a North Korean flag lapel pin to show my support for the DPRK.

First, I didn't even know they had NK flag pins. Second, I don't... I don't understand why. And third...why?

I'd wear them to see if anyone knew what they represented. That and the flag looks cool. A bit.

You can buy them on the internet. I even wore it to the school dance and I got a lot of positive comments about it. I like to show my support for North Korea by wearing something and I get to dispel a lot of the myths about the DPRK (such as the haircut myth) by talking to people. I'm pretty popular in my school so I've been able to educate a lot of people about North Korea. In my experience talking to people in real life about politics gets more done than doing it online.

They're fun, I'm usually one of the youngest there (being 18) but I find I can usually hold my own in conversation.

Active enough to where I'd rather not specify experience & involvement so as to prevent the chance of being directly associated with things I've said (or will surely say) here.

That may be an overestimate of my own significance, but considering that personal assumption of internet anonymity has screwed me out of an office I really enjoyed working with before it's better not to take any chances.

I try to educate my friends on the wonders of political isolation, jingoism, and try to spur American pride by telling people your not a (Insert nationality here), you're an American.
Exm:
Friend: I'm Irish. What do you expect?
Me: You're Irish?
Friend: Yes.
Me: Where were you born.
Friend: America.
Me: Do you speak Gaelic?
Friend: What's that?
Me: Where are you educated?
Friend: America.
Me: Then you're American. Stop claiming false nationalities.
