WorldVision Song Contest 31 - [OOC/Sign-Ups Closed]

Postby WorldVision Committee » Fri Mar 07, 2014 2:33 pm

Here's the signups for the 31st WorldVision Song Contest! Post your national final here. Or, if you don't want to actually post a national final, you can just tell us the title of the song, and the name of the artist performing it and it will be treated as an internal selection.
The contest itself is the same as Eurovision Song Contest. First, all the participating countries post the performance (with lyrics) of their entry, and then, once all the entries have been performed, every nation decides their votes, with the same 1 to 12 points format as used in Eurovision. Everything's the same except that we don't have those silly rules about how many of them can be on the stage, etc.
All songs in the contest must be original. No real-life songs or artists may be entered into the contest, but parodies of RL song are of course allowed. Parody doesn't mean "real life song with some other words" but a song with TOTALLY different lyrics on the melody of a RL song. Also translations of original lyrics are NOT allowed.

Each user may enter, in addition to their main nation, one puppet nation. Master nations must confirm their puppet. Entering more than one puppet may result in sanctions or disqualification. Voting is compulsory for all participants, and failing to do so will result in disqualification from the next contest.

This is Luziyca's host bid for the thirty-first edition of WorldVision. The theme and motto for this edition shall be "Progress, Innovation, Youth," to reflect the changes that Gijirokastra has gone in the past 24 years from being a communist Erov Haclav City, to a rich and cosmopolitan economic center of Luziyca, with a population of thirteen million people, making the largest city in Luziyca.

Image
Gijirokastra, formerly known as Erov Haclav City has a rich history. Formerly a fishing village and an unimportant port, it was razed in 1945 to build a new capital city of the communist dictatorship that ruled western Luziyca at the time, to replace Yerevan, which until 1935 was the second-largest city in Luziyca behind Bethlehem. Only a clock tower and a mansion from the old city remains. On May 1, 1955, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Luziyca was moved to Erov Haclav City, named after the President of West Luziyca (and the General-Secretary of the Worker's Party of Luziyca from 1928) from 1935 to 1989, and by the 1970s, it became the largest city in West Luziyca, and by the end of the decade, it surpassed Bethlehem. However, with its Stalinist architecture and the socialist tower blocks that loomed over the country, it was seen as an ugly city, and after communism fell in 1989, a massive regeneration project began. By the time it was reunified with the east in 1991, it was well underway. Today, it has been transformed, with little of its Stalinist past remaining, and with it, so has the culture and attractions.

It also is the northernmost major city in the Chadan Bay megapolis, although it is really a conurbation, with an estimated 30 million people living around Chadan Bay. As a result, Gijirokastra proper is within the confines of the Gijirokastra Federal City, created in 1955 as the People's Capital, and then changed to Federal City in 1990. Despite it, it also serves as the capital for the state of Gijirokastra: prior to 1935, the capital of the state was Donskoy.

Enough about history, we must show you the major parts of the city that will be hosting the 31st edition of this marvelous contest.

Image

The first question you must be asking yourself is "How do I get to this city?"

Due to our status as a major city, we unsurprisingly has a major airport, the Gijirokastra International Aiport (IATA code: LGA). With nine terminals containing 113 gates, arranged in a U shape, it became a premier airport and is one of the largest airports in Esquarium by passanger and cargo traffic. Since 1989, it has been remodeled to be a modern airport, and now has four runways (only one in 1989) and a helipad. With the latest in amenities and tight security, the Gijirokastra International Airport will proudly serve all travelers taking part in WorldVision 31, or even tourists visiting Gijirokastra.

We also have a harbor that is one of the largest within the country, shipping 434,551 kilotons of cargo per annum, with 65 docks, and busy ship traffic. This harbor is a popular port of call for cruise ships, and special cruises will be held if we win to give holidaymakers a chance to watch WorldVision 31 in Luziyca and enjoy a spectacular voyage. Consult your nearest cruise company regarding this offer.

Being the economic hub, Gijirokastra has good highway connections to the rest of the country. It is the western terminus of Federal Highway 1 (going from there all the way to Frontiersburg at the border with Namor), and State Highway 3 goes through the coast. A tunnel is being built from Kus to Ardatov, and should be completed by January 2014, in time for Federal Highway 11 (southern terminus at Mayginian border, and currently ends at Kus) to go through Gijirokastra, to share most of its route with State Highway 3. With a recently inaugurated high speed rail service from Bethlehem to Gijirokastra, and one that should open by the time we host this that connects Gijirokastra with Yerevan, travel times will be reduced from five days to merely five hours. Tourists will be anticipated in using the Froid service meaning that much of the fleet will be used, many going at its maximum speed of 600 km/h, enabling you to travel from Bethlehem to Gijirokastra in 90 minutes, and Gijirokastra to Yerevan in 45 minutes, compared to the 5 hours and 3 hours on high speed rail, or 5 days and 3 days by slow rail.

Once you get into Gijirokastra, there are plenty of options to choose from for transportation.

Gijirokastra Transit Authority operates the bus system, with modern buses that are the envy of the region, with amenities like heated seats, air conditioning and heaters (it might be cold on the day of the contest), Wi-Fi, and a design so comfy that you don't want to leave! The fares cost 1 lira for children from Kindergarten to Grade 8, 2 lira from Grade 9 to Grade 12, 2 lira and 50 senti if you are an adult until you turn 65, in which you case you get a 1 lira and 50 senti fare. You can also get passes lasting a week (for adults, 17.5 lira), a month (for adults, 75 lira), or a year (seniors only, 547 lira and 50 senti). And for a more retro experience, you can take a ride at the Gijirokastra Subway, where the cars still date from the communist era, the stations for the most part are socialistic in architecture, although the murals are covered, and it costs 2 lira per ride.

Another option is by taxi, in which you get Prestige (white cabs), Radio (yellow cabs), United (black cabs) and BlueLine (navy blue cabs). The rates depend on how far you travel and which company you go to (Prestige is generally more expensive per km than BlueLine). However, you can always rent a car from many corporations, get a carpool, or drive your own car, but be wary of traffic jams. Luckily, the Gijirokastran authorities have created "WORLDVISION" lanes if Gijirokastra gets to host, enabling WV contestants, VIPs, officials, and sponsors to travel to the venues, as well as emergency vehicles.

Now with the transportation issues all sorted out, we must get deeper into Gijirokastra: the entertainment value of this mess.

Image
Gijirokastra has one of the largest nightlife scenes within Luziyca. Considering its massive size, there are a huge variety of options. The image that you see will be the WorldClub if Gijirokastra obtains the opportunity to host. Located at the Square of Nations, this is the Blok Nightclub. Generally open from 1 pm to 3 am, it will have a "lock-in" only for those who have accreditation (either as contestants or as officials) between 9 pm and 1 pm, meaning they can enter and exit only if they have a valid WV ID from one week prior to WV31 to a week after. With a stage for entertainers to perform, drinks that are alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and from all over the world, combined with gourmet food that will be served during the lock-in. While avant-garde cuisine is the main focus, other cuisines are in vogue and can also be ordered from the Blok.

However, the Blok is not the only option. With countless bars and pubs available, and even nightclub, there is always a bar available for your enjoyment, although many close at 1 am. If you want to buy your own booze, you must go to an Alko and buy it.

"But, what if I don't like bars?" you ask. Well, we hear you. Gijirokastra has something for everyone. Well, almost everyone to enjoy. If you are more of a history buff, we got the Museum of Stalinist Oppression, which documents the communist past of West Luziyca and their human rights violations. We also got the Museum of Natural History, and a branch of the National Museum. For artists, we got the Gijirokastra Art Gallery, showcasing present day art produced in northwestern Luziyca, and the Abraham Wilhelm Art Gallery, showcasing past art and some modern art. If you are an outdoors guy, one can always go to Pope Derghun II Park at the heart of Gijirokastra where there are trails, football fields, and playgrounds, as well as a lake, and even forests and sculptures. If you really want a true glimpse of the outdoors, you can take an hour drive southeast to farmland which trails go through the land. Wanna see animals? Come to the Istra Zoo, in Istra, which has a large collection of animals, both native to Luziyca and exotic animals from throughout the world. A small aquarium is present, but not as large as in Yerevan.

However, if you just want to check the local music scene, step to any nightclub and bar or go to a park and listen to the aspiring performers perform their song. You can even go to arenas to watch the Luziycan music stars perform and leave you in awe. For the intellectuals, one can always go to a branch of the Gijirokastra Public Library and read plenty of books (and borrow them for 2 weeks), or head to the main branch to find out more of our past and the records. If you are interested in politics, besides the Museum of Stalinist Oppression, one can go to the former communist party headquarters and tour there, or to City Hall, the former Hall of the People. If you want to see the gears of our capitalist economy rolling, stop by the Gijirokastra Stock Exchange and take a tour, or just shop at any store. And wanna see films? Galaxy Cinemas has 4 multiplexes of 20 screens in the city, one Downtown, one to the east, one to the south, and one to the north.

But you now got all of that in. You had enough progress, innovation and youth for the day. Where to go next?

Image
A hotel, obviously. This hotel is the Friendship Hotel, opening in 2003. With all the modern comforts of home, such as a kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room, plus two restaurants, ATMs, an indoor swimming pool and a fitness center, an ice rink, a daycare, access to a beach (although in the winter, it is moot), central heating (and air conditioning) and WiFi, it will remind you of home at worst, and at best, make you wish your home was remotely as good as this place. It provides good service to the venue, only being 5 minutes away by bus, and within walking distance of many venues and areas, and thus WV contestants are encouraged to stay here. There are 400 suites in the Friendship Hotel, and since it is a 5-star hotel, it sure is not cheap. Despite a slightly high price tag, it certainly provides room service like you never imagined room service before (more comfy and accommodating than competitors), and with the sheer luxury, it will make you realize that of all the hotels on Earth, this is probably more 10-star than 5-star.

However, there are countless other hotels, hostels and motels with lower prices, and lower quality of service, if you really cannot afford the Friendship Hotel and their service. If you choose to stay though at these places, you will not get the best experience in Gijirokastra than if you stayed at the Friendship Hotel.

Now that we got the beautiful city out of the way, we now must advance to the beating heart of WorldVision, also known as the venue...

Image

The venue for WV31 is the Massimo Savoy Concert Hall, named after the late children's entertainer, Massimo Savoy. There were two contenders for WV31 venues in Gijirokastra, but due to a higher capacity (60,000 compared to the 35,000 at the Gijirokastra Concert Hall), its modern design (the Gijirokastra Concert Hall is notoriously ugly, like many communist-era buildings), the allowance of alcohol to be consumed (if you are 21 or older, compared to how it is very restricted at the Gijirokastra Concert Hall), central heating and air conditioning that are very strong due to the fact that Gijirokastra could have temperatures as high as 35 C, or as low as -30 C in a given year, the Massimo Savoy Concert Hall wins. With good transport links to the rest of the city, with several taxi stands, a bus, and a nearby subway station within walking distance, it should be pretty easy to get there.

Designed in a modernist fashion and opened in 2003, the concert hall is meant to showcase the prosperity and progress of Gijirokastra, and thus, has two theaters: the Children's Amphitheater (which will be the practice stage) and the main Theater, which will host most of the festivities. It also has concessions and washrooms scattered throughout the concert hall, plus windows to look in and watch some (you need a ticket to buy stuff there) if you are not in the theater itself so you won't miss anything. And yes, the interior is as modern as the exterior suggests, as can be evidenced in the next section.

Before we advance, the seats at the Massimo Savoy Concert Hall are one of the more comfortable seats in the world, and even the country. With the best speakers, seats that are so comfortable that you will want to try to not fall asleep, and we also relaxed our ban on video cameras so you can record the event live with our special in-seat camcorders, which are transmitted to your smartphone for free, or 10 lira to get it on Blu-Ray. It even has a drink-holder up to supersize large drinks, and an option to order food from the concessions without ever having to leave your seat and merely just a few touches on the button, and a robotic device will teleport you your food and drink instantly!

For those who came but found out that the tickets were sold out, don't fret! The Square of Nations, known as Foreman's Square until 1990 is the best place to watch. Per WV29, three screens are to be set up, so that around 500,000 people can watch the contest. There will also be live coverage on all of Luziyca's major television networks (Oresund, ITV, and LRT). Concession stands will be set up, as well as booths that carry games so if you get bored, you can spend your liras on entertaining yourself.

Image

The stage is designed to express the virtues of youth, innovation and progress, and at the same time, be accommodating to each and every competitor within the contest. The futuristic design of the stage therefore is designed to accommodate the performers, by having a large stage, with a circular design. In the middle are hexagons, which can be raised or lowered, akin to WV27, but unlike WV27, it has 37 hexagons arranged in a circle-esque shape, which can all be raised or lowered, not just as a combined unit, but individually or in groups as well.

These hexagons are also designed to be lit up with any design that one can imagine, so one can make them resemble a wooden floor with some hexagons making a bed, or as a sexy nightclub with a dance floor that could be lit up. The screens at the back comprise of 13 hexagons, and with three screens, there will be 39 hexagons. All will be in full HDTV of the ATSC standard, and connected to cameras and computers so any music video, a pattern, or just the picture of the stage can be broadcast. However, the middle screen conceals an organ (seen in bare configuration), which can be lit at any time which will use the latest technology available so that while you can see the organs, it won't disrupt the middle screen and the pattern, unless if one desires to do so. In between the first and second screen is a door that leads to the greenroom. More on that later. The speakers are one of the more powerful speakers, which are designed to be heard in the main theater of the concert hall with crystal clear sound, even if you are sitting in the back row.

For voting, the three screens shall light up. To the left is a map of the world showing those who have voted, and those who have not. The middle will show the person reading the votes, and the right screen will show who they vote for. To prevent the stage from giving an empty vibe, people of your nation's origin shall perform their traditional cultural dance or ritual during voting (a short fragment, obviously).

In front of the stage is an orchestra pit, and the Gijirokastra Philharmonic will be performing songs if they request it. The Gijirokastra Philharmonic is one of the premier orchestras within Esquarium, and has performed for many people in many countries over the years since 1989. They do classical music well, but they have experimented with other genres.

Finally, the greenroom is designed in accordance with modern trends. This room is just the main room with a bar where competitors can discuss the contest, for each delegation has their own separate greenroom tailored to the needs of their nation (again, from WV29). However, all greenrooms have a (digital) TV so to watch the rest of the contest unfold, as well as the main greenroom, although you will get ITV coverage. The TVs are not 16:9, but 21:9, and the greenrooms have their own iPads, so if you want to find out more of who is performing or the song, you can easily know it. They even have tablets running Windows 8 if you desire and teleporters that take you onto the stage for your performance if you really want.

Image
The example on your left will be how postcards are to look like on television. Due to the hexagon design on the screens on stage, it will take a bit of effort to adjust the picture a bit, but it will work. However, what one needs to do is submit a picture of a famous feature of your nation (could be man-made or natural, a person or an animal), their national colors, and an attribute of their nation (or two, or three, or four, but four is the maximum), and I'll put your nation name in. Using a simple process, the postcards shall appear before songs, so yours appears with your song, Vampirum appears with Vampirum's, you get the idea of how they operate.

Hence, this concludes Luziyca's bid for the thirty-first edition of the WorldVision Song Contest. We hope that you give us 12 points, or at least give us a 10 or 8, for if we win, we shall provide you with a WorldVision that you will remember: one that is radically different from all the previous ones.

Singer Z1828AHZB will sing "Multiverse" to the tune of "Handlebars" by the Flobots. He is male, by the way, and that is his legal name including the "Singer" part. He won't die during the performance, so don't worry.

WorldVision Song Contest 31 - Sign-ups [OPEN]

Postby Russadonia » Fri Mar 07, 2014 10:06 pm

Russadonia's Host Bid
Image
Celeste | Селеста
The Illuminated City, The Gem on the Harbor

The City of Celeste, known as The Illuminated City for its sprawling universities, devotion to academia and knowledge, bright neon lights and avid nightlife is proud to bid for the honor of host city for WorldVision 31. Also known as the The Gem on the Harbor, the city was founded in 1787 and is the largest city in Russadonia with a population of 11 million. Celeste is a modern, wealthy metropolis with a commitment to green technology and promises to make this the greenest WorldVision contest in history. 8 out of 10 Celestines' homes are powered by green electricity and Russadonia is home to the largest solar plant and wind farm in the world. As Celeste remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in the western world, the city is very well equipped to take care of tourists of any language, nationality or species. Celestine hospitality is something that will not soon be forgotten.

The theme for this edition will be "Universal Harmony." Suggesting peace and music for all the world. A need for understanding and love through music and sound for the whole universe. This will be accompanied by a space theme which will take WorldVision on an interstellar journey of music and love, a play on universal (for everyone, space) and harmony (meaning both peace and music).

The Venue
Amethyst Harbor District Stadium

Image
The Venue, Amethyst Harbor District Stadium was built on the Amethyst HarborWalk Waterfront and completed in 2011 to house the Celeste Phalanx professional basketball team. The HarborWalk is several miles long and separate into three sections: North HarborWalk (where the stadium is located), Inner HarborWalk, and South Harborwalk. All three areas are a heavy draw for tourists and contain restaurants, boutiques, shops, arcades, an amusement park, an aquarium and much more. When setup for a concert, as it would be for WorldVision, the stadium can seat 21,000 spectators. It is notable for a giant four-story glass window that gives an excellent view of the Old City district. The window can be opened or closed for views of the city and night sky. The stadium was constructed on a disused, reinforced pier which was renovated and now also holds a large green space. As with the city's promise for green electricity, the stadium is partially powered by underwater tidal fans powered by the flowing of the harbor waters and tides which sit under the pier and outward. The venue is accessible from HarborWalk Station on the Celeste Metro and several stations on the Amethyst/HarborWalk Line light rail.

The stadium is the first full size stadium to be built completely with RED (Russadonian Electronics Division) Inc LED Immersion System. In front of every seat in the stadium sits 6 individual LED lights which turns the audience into a giant immersive screen which can be customized by the artists and national teams.

The KosmoStage
Image

Celeste hopes to take the viewers on a galactic journey, and the stage designers feel they have found the perfect stage for this purpose.. Known as as the KosmoStage, it consists of a giant LED backdrop which can be interacted with by touch from the performers. This interactive technology allows the artists and performance team to fully integrate the backdrop in the show through touch and movement which can be completely customized and edited how the national teams see fit. Every flat surface surrounding the outside, including the crystals hanging from the ceiling above the stage, are multicolor LED displays which can be programmed to the nation's liking. Every surface. The stage has a curved front, with a crescent shaped catwalk extending into the audience and a small circular island in the middle which is accessible to the artist.

Transportation

Image

Celeste has a strong, comprehensive transit network that can get anybody around the large city for a cheap price. The city is served by two international airports, Celeste International and Gold Coast Intercontinental, and one regional airport, William Barrett Travis Airport. Celeste International is the largest airport in Russadonia and has a dedicated Metro Station and light rail line to ferry passengers between the station and six terminals. The Celeste Metro, run by CATA (Celeste Area Transit Authority, pronounced say-ta) has six line and dozens of stations which are kept clean and clear. Every metro train has news bulletins on HD televisions and free Wifi for all passengers. The HarborWalk district, home of the venue, has a dedicated light rail line which traverses the length of the waterfront and terminates in Old City to allow for easy access to the area via means other than the Metro. The standard fare for a ride on any mode of public transportation is 1 Luminere, and this includes free transfers. A tourist pass can easily be obtained at any station which allows unlimited rides for a 1, 3, or five days for a low price.

Accommodations
Image

Because of Celeste's status as an Alpha World City and important tourism sector, the city houses more than enough hotel rooms to accommodate performers, staff, and spectators. With hundreds of selections across different price-levels, styles, and amenities, the city promises everyone there is something to please. All staff will be housed in the Royal Selene, a skyscraper luxury hotel located in center city with immediate access to the silver, blue and pink metro lines via Aventine Station and is only minutes away from the venue by car or metro.

Postcards
Image

The postcards will show the importance of Universal Harmony in our lives. The idea is to contrast a beautiful, vibrant night sky with the world during the day. The postcards will highlight the skyline of the home city of the representing artist (or another if you like), along with a unique picture of outer space to show the beauty of contrast. If the nation likes, they may select their own picture for the night sky. At the bottom will be the name of the nation in their national colors.

Celeste promises an opening ceremony you will not soon forget!

Welcome to Celeste!

Welcome to the bid for Bray City
Arena
Welcome to the John Bray Arena. Named after our great forefather who fought day and night for democracy. The arena similar to the Amsterdam Arena can fit 68,000 for concerts. It is the nation's best arena. The roof will be closed for the contest but the John Bray Arena has a see through roof great for sunny days.
Hotel
The Hilton Braylandia Resort is based on the Hilton Hawaiian Resort. It has over 3,300 rooms. It will be where the contestants stay. The resort is located in the beach town of Freetown which is only 15 minutes from the Arena by High Speed Train. The media will stay at the nearby Braylandia First World Hotel where some of tHE fans will also stay with 6,600 rooms. We will show the WorldVision on screen in the cinema there for the unlucky ones. Most fans should stay at the Braylandia Izmailovo Hotel the final official hotel has over 7 ,000,000 rooms. There is plenty of other hotels as well.
Transport
The High Speed Railway Line means you can travel the whole length of our nation in an hour! There is also taxis and buses.
That is our bid!

You can't send a host bid on your first participation, try next edition.
And since you have like over a month to prepare your host bid, I recommend you take a look at the host bids that other countries are sending so that you know how to make a good one.
