Her parents were going to India to study the natives that could possibly live there and they dragged her along. Her mother taught her to treat and care for wounds at the young age of 6. Her father secretly taught her to fire a gun at the age of 14. She had always had an interest in becoming a nurse and started to go to school for that at the age of 16. She is an only child. When she found out that she was going to be on the ship to India, she applied to be a nurse on the crew but was rejected and she remained with her simple passenger status.
