Revolutions, Rallies, and New Beginnings (MT, Open)

Postby Panhong Sakhathanat » Fri Jan 24, 2014 9:12 pm

OOC: No direct military invasions, and no non-human nations, please.

It was rainy. And humid. The kind of weather that would make you stay indoors on any other day. But this was not any ordinary day, no, this was a glorious day. Today was the day that the people had won their struggle and thrown off the blue-blooded chains of the Rhaspahatat Royal family. Indeed, it seemed every one of the 1,600,000 inhabitants of the capital of Baphtakat were crowding into the streets, rejoicing in the rain and overcast sky. In many places, smoke could still be seen snaking into the air. At the tops of the steps of the former Royal palace, the leader of the Revolutionary People's Army of Liberation, Bha Ramthat, stood to address the massive throng below him.

Image
Bha Ramthat, commander of the RPAL

"Today, workers, peasants, and people of Panhong we have freed ourselves from our enslavement by the vile Rhaspahatats! They whored us to the west, taking knee to their every whim while they neglected us and left us to rot. While they lived in extravagence, we watched our children starve and slowly wither away from disease! Now, behold the 'mighty' King and his family!"

Ramthat raised his hand and pointed to the upper balcony of the former palace, where 5 broken and nude bodies hung by their necks-two of them small children. The throng let out a massive cheer and took nearly 2 minuetes to quiet. Once silence was finally restored, Ramthat continued.

"Never again shall we fall to such disgrace, for we have struggled and lost too much. The sacrifices we have made will not be in vain. But in order to be cured, you must first eradicate all traces of the cancer."

He paused again as several terrified and sobbing former Royal Advisers were brought to the stairs by three guerrilla fighters with large machetes. Ramthat nodded, and the three were cleanly decapitated and their heads held high above the crowd to uproarious applause and cheers.

"Let this be a indicator for all who were associated with the blue-bloods, and the Western Powers that were the pimps to our whore!" as he spoke, the limp bodies were kicked down the long stairs and their head were thrown after them a second later.

"This is a time of glory! A time of prosperity! A time, of, the PEOPLE!" as he finished he raised both his arms into the air as the gathered crowd went rabid in fervor. Behind him, the former palace was set ablaze by several flamethrowers and numerous Molotov cocktails thrown by guerrilla fighters and civilians alike.

A new time had come to Panhong Sakhathanat.

Official Communique of the Worker's Alliance of Yalos

For the eyes of Bha Ramthat only

From the desk of Premier Clarke, the Sun of our glorious nation.

Comrades in world socialism! We welcome you to the throng of nations that have overcome the oppression of the masses and moved towards more progressive, socialist policies. By the somewhat violent deposal of your royal family, you have wisely chosen to allow the people to rule, and we commend you for your noble actions. However, do not believe, dear comrades, that your revolution is yet complete. Even with the destruction of the very icons of your suffering, there are still trials that await you and your people; we wish nothing more than to help. We, the people of the W.A.Y, wish nothing more than to assist you in your cause, and we will take actions to streamline your transition to permanent socialist government.

Our offer, should you accept it, is the full and unrestrained promise of aid by our socialist peoples. We can fashion your nation into a utopian communist paradise like our own. We can promise you a land where the children are free and where the worker works not to feed his overlord, nay, but to feed himself and his comrades in socialism. Our economic advisors and soldiers are determined and empathetic; and should you so desire, we can shield you from the sinister forces of capitalism that would otherwise threaten to swamp your nation and revert it to a backwards nation of monarchy and inequality.

Consider, then, my offer, and reply as you see fit. Your nation’s future may rest on a needle here,

-Comrade Clarke

FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL

To the Government and people of Panhong Sakhathanat, to all nations involved with said nation:

The Government of the Allied States of New Edom condemns with all its strength this communist murderous revolution, which has murdered children and acted as puppets for the International Workers' Organization. No good will come of this.

it is urged that the current acting government immediately negotiate to at least permit those who do not agree with their revolution to be protected, evacuate the country or whatever else is possible.

If they do not: all goods from Panhong Sakhathanat are placed under embargo; nations which are friendly to New Edom will be discouraged from trading with Panhong Sakhathanat or having any diplomatic relations with them as it is made clear that they respect no international laws.

I admit myself humbled by the great love shown to us by comrades from across the globe, and am honored to accept the gifts of our Romanian comrades. I also welcome any cooperation with Yalos to turn our state into a glorious people's paradise.

I however, also confeas my great exasperation at the western imperialist powers who presume to oknow all about us, and indeed, support the murderous and corrupt Royal Family. These states would be wise to take leave of our affairs, and keep their imperialist talons to themselves. You have no reign over us, and I will not allow us to become the west's whore once again. The old regime must pay for their crimes aggainst the people. I do not expect your hedonist kind to know the struggles and hardship our people endured under them, therefore do not expect your empty words to leave an impression.

The New Edomite Embassy, Baphtakat

The New Edomites generally came from subtropical to tropical areas and so the heat while oppressive didn’t shock their systems; they tended to use fans to circulate air rather than air conditioning except for in the communications room which needed to be kept cool for the computers.

They were also cautious about dress—while the heat would normally have had most of them unclothed and just wearing paint, sandals and headgear they were wary of offending foreign modesty and so they were all wearing light cotton tropical clothing.

Sitting around a table with a fan slowly moving, the sound of rain drumming against the windows and roof, the senior staff puzzled over what to do. They had a policy plan before them—proceed with evacuations. If need be an amphibious force or an airborne task force would rescue them, but the plan thus far was to cooperate with the communists, obtain a commercial chartered flight out along with their staff.

“What about our native staff?” asked the Cultural Advisor, Hezipah Venn. A raven haired olive skinned woman with her hair in a dutch boy cut, wearing a light cotton dress and playing with a pet chameleon gently, she looked calm but concerned.

Captain Loegaire, commander of the embassy’s security detachment of 16 members of the 19th Light Troops, a lightly tanned very slim brown haired Yerg Elwe man in tropical dress, said, “I want to emphasize that we have reports of strong demonstrations throughout the city, the show of support for the new government is enormous. We could easily have a mob on our hands. If they wanted in here it would just be a matter of time—without anti-tank weapons or bunker busters, ground attack planes and so on, we could probably hold out for a few hours against light or motorized infantry, maybe a day—but that would be it. The plan we have would involve an emergency evacuation within 24 hours, but it would really be touch and go. I cannot even slightly guarantee success.”

“There you have it,” Major Bath-Sheboth, the Ministry of Police attaché said, shaking his head. “Word on the street says that the majority of people are out there dancing in the streets.”

“Very well,” said Ambassador Peter Crowl. “We will proceed with the evacuation plan and decide what to do about the native staff after interviewing them,” he looked at the charge d’affaires, a man of yellowish cast and sunken eyes, Dr. Kalandar, who nodded. He was sick but there was little help for it; he had a relapse of Malaria.

The Ambassador himself when in private, in his office, sat slowly down in his chair. He had known the country was troubled, but the recent events had exploded, and there had been little he could do. Nai Jahan, his lover…he had met her, the widow of a Royal Army officer, at a gala, and he was charmed by the cultured intelligent woman whose appearance, exotic to him, was as lovely as a deep tropical rare flower. And now he had no idea what had even happened to her, had no idea how to reach her. It tormented him, conflicted with his duties. They had only become lovers recently and he planned to marry her.

Peter Crowl was the first son of the late Defense Minister, John Crowl, who had been killed in a terrorist attack last year. He had also lost his wife shortly after in a bombing raid during New Edom’s own civil war along with their unborn child. After a period of grieving he had flung himself back into work.

He also grieved for this country—a place of beauty and ancient history, now under the thumb of communist thugs, in his opinion. The letter he was about to send was one of the hardest he had done, when he wanted to scream where Nai Jahan was, when he wanted to demand justice for their native employees.

FROM THE NEW EDOMITE EMBASSY

To General Secretary Comrade Bha Ramthat,

I am writing to inform you that I am sending messages to all New Edomite and allied citizens from the Cornellian Empire Region and elsewhere that they may be processed for departure through our embassy here. When within the period you have described they have left the embassy will have evacuated all non-essential staff. Essential staff will remain until the last of our citizens is gone, after which we will leave. It is expected that your government will be fully cooperative.

Peter Crowl,
Ambassador and Head of Mission,
The Allied States of New Edom

The Worker’s Heroic Intelligence Program or the W.H.I.P. in short, was that kind of intelligence program that only its members truly knew the details of. The W.A.Y’s Government was in constant fear and awe of the W.H.I.P’s influence, and left it well alone, save to allocate its funding; which was always very high lest a car bomb or gas leak wreak havoc amongst Politburo’s ranks. Of course, this all made sense. The People had to know about threats before they happened, and had to be able to root enemies of the state out for labor in the subterranean industrial complex of the nation’s war machine. The W.H.I.P drove military research and drew up most battle plans, and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the military was nothing more than an extension of the W.H.I.P’s influence, and in turn, an extension of the Yaliite Corporations’ influence. Of course, Yalos still believed that it was communist, and the W.H.I.P was the only thing keeping the WAY’s people from discovering the earth shattering truth that their entire system strongly resembled that of a slave holding Empire. By weeding out dissidents, the W.H.I.P selflessly helped the proletariat retain their sense of socialist pride and drive.

Of their ranks, Brother Kan was of their most Machiavellian commissars. With that sort of personality that reeked of indifference, he had no qualms about ordering human experimentation on slaves to test new weapons developments, or bombing cities full of innocents to keep puppet states submissive. Kan was one of the few heads that spearheaded the WAY chimera, and his action, for example, had put Clarke on the desk as Premier, abducted 25% more slaves this year than usual, and now, was going to take a more drastic and morally repulsive approach to the situation in Panhong Sakathanat. His powerful shoulders and steel tipped boots pounded against the concrete floor as he whistled the WAY’s anthem, flanked by two hulking refrigerators of guards. Down the corridor he went, stopping every so often to check in on certain intelligence offices, but only for a little stint, of course, before continuing on his way.

Reaching the Intelligence Central Command Platform, he nodded, and an assistant typed in an access code, opening a line with the Premier himself, the small, thin and unimpressive Clarke. The fool was a mere puppet if anything, but a useful, articulate one with a surprisingly powerful voice that could move crowds to tears.

“Premier. How fares your day?” Kan made an effort to half bow as Clarke eyed him with exasperation.

“Brother Kan. I’m reading the report you sent me. I’m not pleased that you sent a message under my name without my permission.”

“It had to be done sir. We couldn’t afford to waste time.”

“Hm…I suppose.” The Premier scratched his long, pointy nose. “What would be the best course of action now, in your opinion?”

“Premier, sir. I request permission to kill some of their people.”

There was a moment of awkward silence before Clake readjusted his spectacles, and coughed.

“Um…why do you feel the need to kill our Socialist brothers?” Clarke queried, his voice speaking in surprise.

“Clarke, sir, we simply must increase support for the local socialist government. A single bomb would do it. There would be minimal deaths, and they would be furious enough to simply exterminate the rest of the Capitalist elite without question. And in the chaos, I’m certain that we could apprehend a few of the capitalist brutes ourselves for labor in the glorious subterranean copper mines, which lack an estimated 2,400 workers as of this very moment. The Fifth Infantry was far too liberal with its whips.”

“…Brother Kan. These are perilous, dark waters you speak of. I cann-”

“It’s settled then. I’m having an agent rendezvous with a local Imperialist. The bomb will be planted, and a single bullet should silence all witnesses. I’m glad for your permission. Long live the WAY.”

“Now just wait a minut-” The screen blanked off and Kan lit a cigar before departing for his Helicopter.

The order had just been given to begin the closure of all Western embassies. Hundreds of RPAL soldiers in UAZ 469s sped along the roads of the capital to the carious embassy buildings. Lieutenant Rhana Thimphata was in charge of one of these teams, whose objective was the New Edom embassy. He sat in the passenger seat of the lead vehicle, the rain driving into the windshield at a loud volume. The frantic windshield wipers did little to clear it up. Behind him, 5 other UAZs each carrying 4 soldiers followed in a caravan, with a FAP 2026 military lorry pulling up the rear. After a slow trip due to the rain, the caravan came to a halt in a line in front of the building. The 19 soldiers exited their vehicles, each armed with domestic AKM model rifles. Though they were not guerrilla fighters any longer, they certainly looked as such. Most wore sneakers or sandals rather than combat boots, with ballistic vest over loose fitting T-shirts. On their heads, many wore bandannas or sedge hats. Only the LT and two other soldiers wore the new SI light khaki every day uniform with sun hats.

The group approached the building before they were just outside the front door. One of the soldiers handed the LT a megaphone. The LTs amplified voice was heard above the rain, speaking in native Panhong.

"This is Lieutenant Rhana Thimphata of the Revolutionary People's Army of Liberation. By order of the General Secretary and the Politburo, you are to allow us into the building so we may escort the foreign nationals to the airport to await transfer."

The New Edomite Embassy, Baphtakat

There had been little warning, apart from the noise of motors and someone from the upper story seeing the vehicle column coming. The two guards at the gate of the compound for the villa quickly locked the gate.

In the lobby of the embassy, several of the other guards with Captain Loegaire were gearing up; they held their rifles at port arms as they secured the lower flowers and Loegaire and a Corporal headed out across the paved courtyard towards the gate, as they heard the voice shouting over the megaphone.

"This is Captain Loegaire of the New Edomite National Army, Embassy Protection Force," he replied. "I have no instructions to permit you to enter the embassy. Nor was that what we understood the agreement to be. I am to advise you to inform your political leaders that they should start answering their correspondence. Lest they have missed it... " he held up a sealed manila envelope. "I am to give you this, which is another copy of the previously sent message. An answer to it is expected. If you attempt to enter this compound however we will open fire on you. This is New Edomite sovereign territory." He waited to see what they would do.

"You are receiving your instructions now, sir, directly from the General Secretary. The good Secretary has many things to deal with right now, as I am sure you understand. It is entirely possible that he has not yet gotten to your correspondence."

He motioned for one of the soldiers to go and take the envelope.

"I am sending one of my men to take the envelope now."

the soldier slung his weapon over his shoulder and went to the gate to receive the envelope. He jogged back to the LT, who read through it before replying.

"I will contact the Politburo now, in light of this. Please standby."

He went to the UAZ and got on the radio to headquarters to report the new developments.

"This is Lieutenant Thimphata. The New Edom Embassy has informed me that they wish to remain in their building, in order to process all their nationals out of the country."

He listened to his superior for a few minuets before returning to the street in front of the embassy. raising the megaphone.

"The Politburo has agreed to allow you to remain in the embassy, so long as you agree to the following terms. First, you must accept constant surveillance by our military, to ensure your sincerity. Second, all Panhong natives working in your embassy are to be turned over immediately to face trial. That is all that is asked of you."

“…so, how about it? I have the bomb; you have the motivation, what could possibly go wrong?”

Brother Dominic of the W.H.I.P’s clandestine operations branch was a no nonsense Filipino man with a grand moustache and powerful muscles. Under his seat was a suitcase that held liquid death; namely, Ethylene glycol dinitrate; an explosive gel that would get the job done.

Sitting across from him was a former Royal guardsman, an Imperialist bastard who served the former royalty and assisted in the subjugation of the peoples. Dominic wanted to slap the man and castrate him with a pair of scissors. But no, he needed this imperialist pig for now. He could murder him later, but somebody had to set the bomb, and it had to be somebody expendable.

“I…I don’t know, I mean-”

Dominic plunked a sack of bills on the table; all of it in local currency. The guardsman’s eyes brightened with greed as he hungrily eyed the cash and what it could do for him. Money, after all, buys power, and the guardsman needed cash to keep his identity hidden from the local communists.

“I’ll do it. I’ll avenge my king.” the man swallowed, and Dominic could see the sweat dripping down his filthy brow. All was going according to plan.

“Good man.” Dominic stood and handed him the explosives “You have an hour. Get moving--fast”

Dominic smiled in satisfaction as smoke plumes rose from the small family villa, mingling with the scorching hot bursts of flame. There had been children and a woman inside-it was the perfect target. This was, after all, to drive the public into righteous anger, and nothing was more innocent than a woman and her children. The passerby began to scream and the streets filled with chaos and disorder as the former guardsman, disguised in a woman’s dress, began to push his way through the crowd, fearfully, moving quickly to distance himself from the scene of the bomb. The capitalist pig would soon meet his end.

Dominic raised his rifle to his eye and put his finger on the trigger, gingerly stroking it as he aligned the sights on the guardsman’s head. He felt a tremendous sense of power, really, knowing that this man could be dead in just a few moments, and that Dominic could be the one to cause it. Breathing heavily in an orgasm of power and megalomania, he grinned and lined up the sights on the guardsman’s head, which was now perfectly round and plump, like a water melon. The sights were on the head, yes, and it would be one…quick…

The guardsman’s head exploded, piece of it flying abound, splattering people on the streets and Dominic stood and departed from his position on the roof. There was no need to stay to watch the additional chaos caused by the soldier’s death.

Official Communique of the Worker's Alliance of Yalos

For the eyes of Bha Ramthat only

From the desk of Premier Clarke, the Sun of our glorious nation.

Once again, I have the honor of speaking to you! Dear comrades! I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your endeavors!

I have an offer to propose to you and your mighty people. The Worker's Liberation Legions are on standby for deployment into your homeland. We would be deploying a division of mechanized infantry with a few ancillary air assault units to help deal with insurgents against the current government as well as to help crush all dissent. For the capitalist's grip is powerful, and there's no telling what kinds of tricks they may play on your noble peoples! We do this out of compassion and empathy towards your people.

Please inform me of your response as soon as possible so that I can issue the deployment orders,

May your revolution be blessed,

-Comrade Clarke

Kan fumed his cigar, and nodded. The message was sent without Clarke's permission-- once again. If he could insert even a single military division, the Yaliite slave problem would be solved quickly. And it didn't matter what the local government said--he would take his share anyways, but it would be much easier with military presence in the nation.

In Heping, cargo ships, carrying the weapons for the army of Panhong Sakhathanat, set sailed. One of the cargo ships has agents from the State Intelligence Department onboard. Their mission was to monitor the political situation of Panhong Sakhathanat and protect Bha Ramthat's government from any Western powers. In space, a Zhouranese space satellite monitors the borders of Panhong Sakhathanat.

The classified deployment of the satellite and the SID agents were ordered by Marshal Tie Laohu himself. There are some rumors that Tie Laohu was very interested in Bha Ramthat's nation. Some say that Tie Laohu wants to use Bha Ramthat and Panhong Sakhathanat as a card in the communist world. If so, Zhouran's influence will grow even more, and this would mean Zhouran would grow from a global power to a powerbroker.

General Secretary Zhao Yi was happy to hear that Panhong Sakhathanat is free of imperialism. With Marshal Tie Laohu securing military ties between both nations, Zhao Yi sent a telegram to Bha Ramthat, since she was interested in creating diplomatic ties.

"Dear General Secretary Bha Ramthat

From General Secretary Zhao Yi, head of state

I am interested in starting diplomatic relationship between both nations. Both Panhong Sakhathanat and the People's Republic of Zhouran shall benefit in this new relationship.

May our people live in prosperity."

Unlike Tie Laohu, Zhao Yi was interested in Panhong Sakhathanat and the culture. She was also interested in visiting the nation.

"What? An attack? By whom?"

Ba Ramthat was sitting in the temporary government residence, a former courthouse about a block from the Royal Palace. It would serve as the capitol until the new structure was built over the ruins of the old palace. A military courier had requested an audience with the new General Secretary, claiming utmost importance. The courier had burst in out of breath, and had told him of the explosion and subsequent shooting that had taken place just minuets ago within the city.

"I do not know, General Secretary. It has only happened moments ago. The military has already evacuated much of the block and cordoned it off."

Ramthat put the papers he had in his hand down on his desk. "Take me to the scene immediately."

The courier saluted and bowed and followed the General Secretary out of the room and out the main entrance of the building. Several soldiers sat nearby by a UAZ smoking laughing. Upon seeing the General Secretary, they immediately snapped to with a salute.

"You men, take me to the bombing site. This courier will tell you were to go." He entered the passenger seat, as the courier entered the back, giving directions to driver. Twice the vehicle drove past a firing squad, executing convicted royalist sympathizers. They were waved through the makeshift military checkpoint on the scene, as the General Secretary got out to survey. In front of him was a house-or what remained of it. Rubble littered the street and several bodies could be seen; many more could not be seen beneath the rubble. A dozen or so wounded citizens were being supported away from the scene by soldiers or being tended to by paramedics. In the center of it all a body stood out, clearly killed by a gunshot wound to the skull. The General Secretary approached this corpse, who was being looked by a forensic examiner of the Revolutionary Police Force. He looked up from the cadaver as his leader approached, and quickly got to his feet.

"General Secretary, sir. It is an honor!"

Ramthat nodded. "And? What do we have here?"

"Male, roughly middle aged, and clearly killed by ballistic trauma to the cranium."

Ramthat furrowed his brow. "Male?" The corpse was wearing female clothing. The examiner nodded and removed the cover over the body to reveal the remains of a male human face. "Very suspicious sir. He also had his ID on him among other personal effects."

"Find out what you can on him. Clearly, he acted under someone's orders. Unfortunately for him, it seems he had outlived his use and took care of a potential loose end." He turned to one of the soldiers that followed him from the car. "See to it that the wounded get taken care of.

He left the scene and returned to the Transitional Headquarters. Three hours later, a note from the Examiner had been placed in his mailbox. The man had been a former member of the Life Guards of the Royal Family. That was all he needed. He was a blue-blood, and had committed further violence against the people. This was his fault. He had not been tighter in his crackdown of the former aristocracy. But then, he had a thought. A thought that made him stop dead in his tracks: what if one of the former allies of the Monarchy had a hand in this. The thought terrified him, and he immediately issued orders out for the military to undertake.

In light of recent subversive acts against the People of Panhong committed by former Royalists, all foreign embassies sympathetic to the old monarchs are to be escorted to Baphtakat International Airport to await transfer to their countries of origin. Full compliance is expected.

Signed,

General Secretary Bha Ramthat
