In the interests of transparency, the following corrections have been made:

  • As of yesterday, I was informed that the Diamond Trophy entry list was not already posted in seeded order. The singles tournament was mainly correct with the exception that Susanti and Toli were switched in the groups; the doubles pot list, however, was enough out of whack that I decided to redraw the tournament. The current group list is correct, but this error explains why the groups might have changed for some people who are not active in the Discord.
  • As a result of the doubles redraw, the team Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani (PCU) was erroneously drawn twice. The correct Putu team was in Pot 3 in the Trethanton Group; the incorrect Putu team in the Vaduz Group should have been Sibylla Naess/Timaeus Andersson (PUG). I have made the executive decision to keep the result as it stands, but as if Naess/Andersson had been correctly playing all along. Thanks to Gnejs for pointing out the error, and given that I will have to go with manual tables for that group for the remaining two matches, I would appreciate folks double-checking my work on that group.

This has been an unusually sloppy tournament from me, and I do apologize for that; I also appreciate everybody bringing these errors to my attention.

With apologies, I will have to make the following changes to the schedule due to a changed travel schedule:

20 December UTC - Quarterfinals - Diamond Trophy cut-off only break day
21 December - Semifinals Quarterfinals - Diamond Trophy cut-off only, cutoff window moved to 0500-0700 UTC
22 December - Final (cutoff will definitely be at early end of window) Semifinals - cutoff to be 0500 UTC on the dot.
23 December - Final - cutoff to be 0500 UTC on the dot, with finalists encouraged to get RPs in sooner rather than later.

If the planned downtime takes place on the 21st, 22nd, or 23rd, the cutoff will be moved to the next day. If there is a cutoff on the 24th, the window will move forward to 0000-0200 UTC. Apologies for this schedule change in addition to the sloppy hosting so far.

Unfortunately won’t be able to get up a post for the last finals cutoff. Best of luck to all the finalists. I’d like to thank all the 2022-hosts for giving us all such a fun season. A special thanks to Electrum and Ceni for their continued dedication to the NSTT, which is really what makes it all possible. You’re the true pillars of the NS-tennis community and should be saluted at every turn.

Dear tennis fans, the successful season of 2022 is behind us. I 'm glad that some new names have appeared on the tennis scene. Unfortunately, I was not able to devote myself to the second part of the season.
Thank you all, and a special big tnx to Electrum. Ceni and Gnejs also contributed a lot to the season. I'm looking forward to the 2023 season.

Thanks to all those who RPed and hosted this season, and an especially special thanks to Electrum for coordinating everything and maintaining the ranks.

A Merry Christmas to our Australasian users and a Merry Christmas Eve to all those behind the times, so to speak — best wishes for the New Year and NSTT Season 9!

I don't know it it was just a naming error,or if indeed there was a change, but at the Cenian Open's doubles' matchday one, section 3,Ricardo Toli/Elizabeth Quehall played Mihai Caeso Mihailescu/Márcus Gabriel Alencastro instead of Mihai Carolus Maro/Claudius Ion Varro, whom they were supposed to face.

This was indeed a naming error (perhaps brought upon by the fact that you have a very confusing delegation with quite a few similar names). Given that the wrong Mihai team actually had about a log point advantage over the correct Mihai team in terms of scorination input, I'm inclined to leave the result as it stands just with a name swap a la what's in Challonge right now (but I'll of course rescorinate the match if you want me to).

I know it's been a year since this thread has been used but I'll be using this thread as the OOC thread for the NSTT Finals which has been done in the past.

Here is the Everything thread for Quickenden!

MD1 will begin on the 7th December 2023, with the tournament running daily until 13th December. There is also a scheduled rest day on the 10th December, with the 11th being for the Diamond Trophy only.

The link to the bid is also in this thread. Well done to those of you who qualified for this event! Looking forward to the RPs! If there are any questions, let me know below...

Yeah, definitely! Also, I think I was supposed to post the bid here :?

But anyway! The group information is up!

The NSTT Final group names feature tennis players who were the year-end #1 (according to the docs) that were not present in Season 9. The Diamond Trophy group names are successful or well-known tennis players who might have been seeded number 1 in a major tournament, but never became the year-end #1. Extra tidbit for your RPs...

The qualifiers for the knock-out stages are up. If there are any issues, please let me know below!

Just to note, the next cut-off is 11th December 2023 but that will be the Diamond Trophy only. The 12th will be the Semi-Finals for both tournaments.

I will also switch to the 10-point tie-break method for the doubles as intended (in the bid  )...IC reasoning: ATB was concerned about match lengths in the latter stages of the tournament now that both events are in one arena. Let's forget about that!

I will hopefully make a roleplay tomorrow re-confirming the qualifiers as well.

Yes, congratulations to Srednjaci for the sweep in the Diamond Trophy as well as to Gnejs for co-championing the doubles with me and to Michael Loy for securing the year end world number one spot in singles.

I look forward to welcoming the NSTT community to Cenial for the Cenian Open to start Season 10! A full RL decade is not something to sneeze at.

Happy Holidays to everyone as well!

No, it's really my place to apologize - one would think by now that I shouldn't be making these kinds of mistakes :(

Rankings are now updated for the conclusion of the Cenian Open. They can be found here.

***

While updating the rankings, I realized that I had also omitted the doubles entries from the United Mandaran States (UMS) from the Cenian Open doubles draw. Strangely, their puppet MSC somehow did make it in the draw. My sincere apologies for this error.

To rectify it, I have decided to award their entries points equivalent to their performances in the Cenian Open last year. The pairing of Prabawa/Astuti will maintain their protected ranking until the Electrum Slam (whether that ends up being two or three tournaments).

Once again, I sincerely apologize for this omission.
***

There were also some confusing results in the doubles qualifiers, but in the end, there were no incorrect pairings, so I merely deleted the confusing (incorrect) results and left the correct results. No other corrections were required.

***

I posed this question on the Discord, but got no responses, so I also wanted to do this out in the open:

There are a couple of scheduling difficulties trying to juggle RL and also the upcoming WCQs (although not sure how much overlap there is among this current crop). There are a couple of different alternatives as I see it:
(a) rush to try and fit in another tournament during the Baptism of Fire - but this involves a squished signup period and also trying to recruit another host to fill this slot - essentially doing Tier 1/Tier 2 combined - WCQs (break) - Tier 1 Mandatory - Electrum Slam.
(b) start the swing up again, say, mid-way through WCQs, doing Tier 1/Tier 2 combined - Electrum Slam - Tier 1 Mandatory (still hostless) to try and have more time for signups and recruiting the fourth host.
(c) wait until WCQs finish, do Tier 1/Tier 2 combined - Electrum Slam, and leave off the T1M to try and make up for lost ground in starting off the season late.

Do people have any preferences among those options, or are there any preferred alternatives that I didn't identify?

(And just to say this explicitly we are unfortunately missing a host for the second T1/T1M for outdoor hard at the moment, so volunteers are very much appreciated!)

Hello!

Just want to mention I've stepped in as a host. Exciting times!

Personal note, I would love to host as late as possible! I'll be much freer after this week but I have a new job and would like to readjust to the new schedule. So with this in mind, I think that option c would be preferable. It means that we can focus more on making sure the rest of the calendar is in check so we don't have this issue going forward into clay court season. Question - would this mean that the tennis players who won points at the T1M would just lose their points with no way to defend them?

Also, why does option A require a squished sign-up period for the T1/T2 tournament? Do you have a rough schedule for the year that you'd like to stick to?

Either way, I'm easy with whatever but it would be good to hear from members of the NSTT community!!

Apologies for the late start. As I've said I've been quite busy with quite a few things both in NS and at work. It's approaching peak time for work for the next few months now. I'm happy to host Burnton and Electrum Slam. I suggest we get started with sign ups now for the rest of the ahrd court season, it's OK if we are late by a few weeks, the year is long and we can extend into January next year if needed.

Option A would have required such a squished period in order to try and complete the tournament before WCQs start. That looks less and less likely by the day, so I don't think we'll have to worry about it.

With Electrum's comment, I'm happy to open signups for the tournaments up as soon as we hammer out dates for Burnton and the Electrum Slam. We can then have the Britonisean tournament follow the Electrum Slam to accommodate your desire to have a later start date. I think that solves the issue of dropping the Tier 1 Mandatory. If there's conflict with WCQs, then so be it.
