Should we ban the sale of violent video games?

In the last several years there has been a debate on whether or not graphic, violent video games should be banned. People who say that it should be banned, argue that it's harmful to children, and that it causes violent behavior.

On the other hand, several studies have shown that it does not harm children, nor does it cause violent behavior.

Some believe that it's a restriction of civil liberties to ban the sale of violent video games.

What say ye NSG?

I personally believe that the sale of violent video games shouldn't be banned, as it causes no harm to people, and it also would restrict the sale of violent video games to adults who just want to play a game.

Fun fact: After Grand Theft Auto III was released, the national murder rate dropped to a 20-year low.

So much for the "violent video games cause violence" argument.

Anyway, censorship is evil. We have a ratings system. If you don't want your children buying video games that are violent, all you have to do is be a responsible parent and review the rating summary on the back cover of the game.

No. Purchases obviously should be limited to the adults/older teens the game rating is targeted at, but we should not ban it as a whole.

The fact that murder went down is enough to say it might be more deterrent than cause of homicide as the police get aggressive in those games far more so than in real life.
