How Does Your Nation Punish Terrorism?

I've always wondered how other nations dealt with that they deem to be terrorism.

To Daratus, "terrorism" is a very loose word the government can throw around to easily fit more than one thing; due to this, the punishments for "conspiring against the state" are different depending on what you did. For instance, if you spread some propaganda you might get forced labor for a few days. If you actually to literally fight the state? You will be destroyed on sight without questions asked. It's such a label that both hippies and hard core warriors of ideology can both be called terrorists without anyone blinking an eye.

This. If someone bombs a building, they are charged with arson, malicious discharge of explosives, and the appropriate number of murders. They are given the appropriate sentences for these crimes. Whether they are politically-motivated or not is not considered.

Captured terrorists are interrogated aggressively before being quietly executed and disposed of in one of the countries many blacksites.

"Terrorism" is such a nebulous and poorly-defined word that it's not even recognized as a valid accusation in YellowApplan legal proceedings.

YellowApplan courts only convict for actual crimes - i.e. individual counts of murder, robbery, vandalism, etc. This "terrorist" silliness is reserved for the backwater remainder of the universe to fight over.

we do not use this term "terrorism" though. it is a hate word. coined for propiganda purposses. its closest parallel in reality would be bullying.

how do we punish? that is decided on an individual basis. by a process of consultation including the local council and all affected and affecting parties involved.

most harms can be corrected, often and primarily, the causers of harm are tasked, under supervision, with doing so. confinement is of course an option, and, as with any crime, denial of opportunity to repeat the offense is mandatory. whether this means incarceration or denial of right to posses the means to commit, or whatever necessary combination that particular instance requires.

our system of criminal justice is not a system of public vengeance. it is a system of reducing statistically the probability of undesirable acts occurring. being aimed scientifically at that end alone, it does so and does so quite effectively.
