The Cold War 2075 OOC: PMT (MT acceptable) Invite Only

Postby Azurlavai » Fri Nov 15, 2013 4:17 pm

For the past ten years, Europe has remained divided between the Federal Republic of Vyrsar and the Allied States of Azurlavai. Two military and economic powers staring at each other over a shared border as each tries to claim what they can. Vyrsar fights fervantly to bring its past to order, while Azurlavai fights whatever threatens it. For the time being, the two are evenly matched in terms of technology, military strength, economic prosperity and overall determination. A full-out conflict between them will end badly for all sides, regardless of who wins.

Welcome to the Cold War.

--------------------------
A few ground rules! In this continuum, human history has been -erased-. Nothing is like our own world. No nations, no events remain the same. But the world is the same. So far, we have two contenders, with the hope that several more will join. The main focus is, of course, our two competing European nations. However, in a Cold War, everything in the world influences things, so your nation might just be the greatest influence.

Another thing to make clear; this is a fluff thread. We're using the events here to cast a world, not work towards a specific goal. That means we'll be going on for a while without a clear end in sight.

Confirmed Nations-those known to be in the RP
Federal Republic of Vyrsar
Allied States of Azurlavai
Kingdom of Maiquis (France, divided up there on the map)
Federal Republic of Free Terra
Dominion of Voyostok
People's Republic of Kalakuri

Those people who wish to apply must not only state their nation and territory to claim but also their stance in the war and who they support. If you territory is already claimed, you may attempt to negotiate for it with the person who claimed it, but while reasonable we work largely on a first-come-first serve basis. This is a realistic, serious dedication thread. The usual rules apply (no godmodding, spamming, trolling, insulting etc.). Vyrsar and I hold the keys of power here.

And another note on Post Modern Technology-we run the gambit from the 2020s to about the 2070s. If you have advanced tech that you think puts you over the edge, submit it to either me or Vyrsar first.

Here are some examples of current technology in widespread use in this world:
Powered armor
Mech suits/exoskeletons
Holograhic HUDs
Advanced combat optics
Caseless ammunition
Combat drones
Fuel-air explosives
EMP technology
Railguns
Optical stealth
Orbital weaponry

We thank you for your cooperation, and hope you have fun!

Sooo...

Even though I'm halfway across the world, I can influence a war in Europe?

Sure, I guess. If you guys think you can git me in, I'm game.

I'd need to expand up to the east coast somehow in order to provide any real pressure, but other than that, I'm game.

Hey guys. Azzie got to me about this. I'm in. Figure a nation almost the size of Britain could still do some damage, eh?

Well, historically speaking, the nation IRL that's the size of Britain, also known as Britain, did a lot of damage.

But then again, so did every country that was bigger ._.

Okay, so if we have our lines drawn, we should be ready to at least start.

So, after the periods of expansion by every country that has expanded, the map has been updated:

If you don't mind my asking... Why Australia? It's not a very resource-rich continent. Same with Central America, over-expansion = downfall. Just look at Rome.

Australia- Swelling troop numbers, and Australia is quite rich in natural resources. Things like uranium, coal, gas. It can also provide a larger agricultural sector for the Republic.

South America- I really haven't the slightest idea... it's more of just there because it's there. That land isn't really governed at all. Consider the Central American land neutral and free. But I'm still keeping the Caribbean. You can make quite a profit out of the agriculture there.

Never took the time to notice for Australia, just assumed by the mediocre economy IRL that it wasn't very resource rich. Then again, that probably ghas to do with the giant, inhospitable desert in the middle of the continent.

Just a bit.

Thought with all the resources that the Republic encompasses over its land, the economy is booming. Everything from natural and mineral resources to the exportation of consumer goods.

I think we can manage that. Vyrsar?

And is anyone up for starting to annex the Middle East? I am!

Saudi Arabia, you are MEIN (And Iraq, Iran, and Kuwait too)!

Not so fast, Vyrsar! You've got Sibera and part of Canada! It's time I got -my- oil crop! Africa and the Middle East will be -MEIN!-

Where do you want to be? Just remember that Russia is a bad idea ;) and that North America and practically all of the Arabian Peninsula is due for annexation. Like Russia.
