The Sar'Rithril are a violent, theocratic humanoid race indigenous to Nirshun'a-Lor'aa, the fifth planet in the Qor'znor System, itself apart of the Soroun'ga-Hos Minor Cluster in the Gamma Quadrant. Evolved from lesser Lor'aai reptilians, the Sar'Rithril have risen to become the sole inhabitants of their home world and system, having systematically destroyed neighboring civilizations in the immediate stellar vicinity. The Qor'znor System, in addition to the Soroun'ga-Hos Minor Cluster in Gamma represents the dominion of the Suvor'kuul-Nor'Sire, colloquially referred to as the Blessed Empire of Sithor'kaan. It is so named after the God-King of the Sar'Rithril, Sithor'kaan, who established the principles of the theocratic hegemony which governs the Sar'Rithril, and also serves as the defining cultural paradigm of the species for the past ten thousand years of their existence.

The Sar'Rithril, sometimes referred to as Nirshun'a-Lor'aans colloquially—though this sobriquet has widely fallen out of usage with the collapse of the Pontanian Star Union and the Cour'escal Dominion in the Soroun'ga-Hos Minor Cluster—are a carbon-based life form with an upright gait. With a mean general height of two and a half meters, and a relative weight around one hundred and sixty kilograms, the Sar'Rithril are a large and powerful species possessing an intimidating physical presence and considerable strength. With an deep-red epidermal layer that is partially interspersed with the remnants of a former calcium-based exoskeleton, the Sar'Rithril carry a distinct appearance that is generally unmistakable from other species in Gamma Quadrant.
One of the most distinctive physical traits of the Sar'Rithril is the head; specifically, the jawline. Opposed to the typical hinge mechanism found in most humanoid forms, the Sar'Rithril possess a special jaw structure that features a bottom jaw that is separated at the chin, creating a mouth that opens upward and outward, with no bottom jaw as is customary. The expanse of the jaws allows the Sar'Rithril to consume food in larger quantities than other humanoids, which help fuel its considerable metabolism. Part of the exoskeleton is prominently featured across the orbital bones and brow of the Sar'Rithril, creating a protective casing that helps better guard the internal skull and brainpan. This material was considered extremely valuable at one time for its toughness, but the practice of obtaining the material from deceased Sar'Rithril has long-since proven to be too dangerous and uneconomical to continue.
The Sar'Rithril first appeared in quadrant historical records as a superluminal flight-capable race (or FTL Civilization) around five hundred years ago. Much of the biological, cultural, and sociological evolution of the species is unknown thanks in part to the cultural upheaval which took place during the generation that saw Nirshun'a-Lor'aa's first steps into the interstellar medium. Much of the society is based around the teachings of a successful ruling tyrant named Sithor'kaan, who was revered for his ferocity in battle and great wisdom. It is unclear if the deification of Sithor'kaan took place before or after his martyrdom in N-L C.Y. 1545 III (Nirshun'a-Lor'aa Calendar Year of the Third Era), but it is known that in the century following his death, most of the elements of the modern Sar'Rithril culture were falling into place. It was also during this period that the notorious Bluud Vakt began to appear—nanobot swarms which infest each Sar'Rithril, and act as formidable tactical weapons in a variety of situations.
