Vauganian Bid for World Baseball Classic 28
It seems this is a host bid.
That's what the title says, doesn't it?
I suppose. So anyway, who are you and what have you hosted?
As you can see in green over on the left, I am Vaugania. I have a somewhat meager hosting portfolio. This includes World Korfball Classic 2, World Indoor Soccer Championship 6, and co-hosting both editions of NSCAA Ice Hockey with the likes of The Royal Kingdom of Quebec, Cassadaigua, and Michael VII. You can also add a few matches on the Football Friendly Scheduler. Though I may seem inexperienced, I am no stranger to NS Sports. In fact, I will likely celebrate my 2nd year on NS during this tournament. Having been in multiple WBCs and WCoHs, as well as an IBC, and a full World Cup cycle (BoF, Quals, CoH) I know what you as the community expect from a host. Realizing this, I believe I am prepared to deliver a good tournament.
Are you any good at baseball?
Quite. On Matchday 1 of WBC 25, the Vaugania Golden Eagles took to the field for the first time and defeated The Sova Empire 6-3 in a 10 inning thriller. Since then, the Golden Eagles have accumulated a record of 25-16 and after only 3 WBCs, cracked the top 10 and are now ranked as number 9 in the world.
How will this be scored?
As one might expect, I will use the baseball function of xkoranate. I will employ the NSFS3 formula so we can have line scores.
What about RP Bonus?
I love reading RPs and I've run out of book to read at my house. Therefore, you will be rewarded for providing me with reading material. I do not, however, plan on giving out bonus for poor RPs, though. Bonus points to those of you who come up with an original concept. I will also have a policy of quality over quantity. I'll take 2 paragraphs of gold over a novella of crap any day. The bonus will be cumulative and will be completely reset at the end of the group stage. This is the only time that RP Bonus will be reset or degraded.
And format? Will you be formatting?

Right now, I count 44 nations signed up for the WBC. Though I could run the tournament with that number of teams, but that would men either a too short or far too long qualifying stage and possibly a lack of home and away qualifiers. I could cut out the four puppets that signed up the latest, but I really don't want to do that. I would like to have a 48 team tournament with home and away double round robin qualifiers. The top two teams would be taken from each group and seeded 1-16. Each round up until the finals will be best 2 out of 3. The 3rd place playoff will be 2 out of 3 as well and the finals will be 3 out of 5.
What if there's a tie?

You may realize that there is no Runs For listed in the tiebreakers. This is because a baseball team doesn't always get to bat 9 times in a game. If the home team is leading after the top of the 9th, they don't get to bat, thus robbing them of any runs they might have scored in that inning.
