A Typical Christmas Scene in Your Nation's Capital

Postby Vandelstein » Sat Aug 03, 2013 6:58 am

BTW, Christmas is more of a secular celebration in Vandelstein rather than a religious one

Christmas is still months away, but I'm curious to know how it looks like in your capital cities.

In Vandelstein's capital city of Helsingberg, snow is rare during Christmas due to the cold, yet dry, climate of the Central Highlands. In response, the government utilizes its Civil Air Services, in cooperation with private companies, to bring snow to the capital from the Northern Paragon Mountains. It is one of the most-celebrated moments in the city and extremely popular. The annual Festival of Lights and Music also takes place during Christmas, brightening a happy day even more.

Vienna looks like this around our equivalent of "christmas". It's not christmas as "christianity" does not exist in Auzkhia.

The capital in general looks like it always does. What do we care about some human holiday, especially one that celebrates an offspring of the Coder of the Biologicals? Our engineers consider biologicals to be the cheap-from-China version of life: Available everywhere and in vast quantities, but rarely of decent quality. Biologicals are also always in beta. If that Coder came around here, we'd give him Advanced Educational Data Packs in Engineering and Creating Code Intended to be Sapient.

Despite this opinion being the norm for native Decepticons, the immigrant sectors will put up Christmas trees and lights, so there are some very pretty areas around that time of year. Thanks to our excellent skills in metalworking, the trees can look very real and some even feel that way. DomIntel looks the other way for most of this - technically, it violates the ban on religions that put other entities above Megatron or that are against the Decepticon Way - but if someone decides to start preaching, he will be in very serious trouble.

Of course, the stores near these areas have learned that Christmas in some areas of Earth was more of a commercial extravaganza than anything else. Needless to say, they capitalize on this as heavily as possible, which is to say, to the MAX! We have found that former Americans are total cash cows, so their areas in particular are bombarded with stores that open up just for the occasion. These stores are all highly decorated. They also sell crap that no true Decepticon would ever buy, like giant versions of iPods, various toys, and video games that have nothing to do with raiding or conquering things.
No war RPs; no open RPs.

We have helicopters in Fat City too but it's more likely to be the Air Cavalry raiding the playgrounds and other open spaces. At Christmas, troopers dressed as Santa Claus will abseil into crowds of children to distribute gifts.

Last Christmas, one of the local department stores had advertising posters with Alphonse dressed as Santa Claus. (Of course, in reality you can't get him to wear hats.) Many Nativity scenes also feature a duck who looks like Alphonse.

Well, we don't celebrate Christmas as we're not Judeo-Christians but our most important religious (of which the religiousness is maintained) holiday falls around the same period.

Minen usually sees Alexandrovsk brightly decorated and colorful and generally celebratory.

Christmas is only celebrated by the Ontorisans who believe in Christianity (a slim 3%). These people are usually frowned upon since Christmas is not a holiday for Ontorisa and is a work day. Ontorisans celebrate Usaga-Del-Volo or Confederacy Day, which is similar to Christmas but focuses on celebrating the Confederation of Ontorisa on February 1st.

Here in Helheim we slaughter christian monks, mainly from Ireland, in ritual slaughter. Raid parties typically leave shored a few days before and begin plundering along the West of the European coast. Meals include: Pinnekjøtt and Mead to cellebrate the treasures gotten from those pesky peasants in Britainia.

Given Kartika's cold, moist climate, it nearly always snows on Christmas. Christians, who make up 57% of the capital's population, attend special liturgies (usually more than one).

Image

The government is closed on Christmas, as is the Kartika Metropolitan Transit System. However, many people still turn out for the Prime Executive's Christmas Address given from the Auditory Balcony at Kroveniren Hall. Every Prime Executive since 21106 has delivered the Christmas Address, regardless of whether they were Christian or Coscivian Monotheïst, just as Christian Prime Executives give an address on the Coscivian Monotheïst holidays of Karathalva and Lostuna.

Here, in Bethlehem, it has a lot of lights, ads advertising deals, as well as many pilgrims wishing to see the place where Jesus was born. It also has some outdoor trees, but a mix of westernization plus our religious roots (we pride ourselves as being Jesus' birthplace).

Uelvan is a land of hero cults. Jesus is viewed as a hero (thus a god) of a foreign people.

However, Christmas is also a really big retail holiday, which brings in loads of revenue for all the major corporations who own the states.

So pretty much this for the entire month of December, even past Christmas.

Although only 40% of Frenequestans consider themselves Christian, Christmas is still a big holiday.

A typical Christmas tree, found outside the Neue Bayreuth Stock Exchange. This particular tree is often used to report stock prices-- the trading floor is usually very busy around Christmas as equities are a relatively common Chirstmas gift. In fact, the Neue Bayreuth Stock Exchange does not even close on Christmas and the closing bell is even extended to midnight on Christmas Eve.

The state religion is 'Persian Islam', a form of Islamic jurisdiction with several differences with foreign 'mainstream' one. Persian Islam reveres the Shahanshah as an Imam, the Emissary of Allah and thus the Shahanshah's words are considered divine. Of course in every regime of lunatic Shahanshah, the Mullahs could judge him as unrighteous Shahanshah ('the scoundrel of Devil') and usually hunted to death, replaced with a saner Shahanshah who revered again as the Emissary of Allah.

Therefore, celebration of the birth of Christ is unpopular here as Christians are minority (albeit the large one) and publicly celebrating non-Islamic religious holidays is forbidden. Sure, some shops will start selling 'Christmas Special' or something like that, Churches will be crowded, bells ringing...but Santa Clauses in streets are punishable by death.

It's a veritable temple to consumerism and hypercapitalism with the religious nature all but forgotten in the public image yet maintained in the private. Weather wise it may or may not be snowy due to the picky nature of the mid-atlantic region though it'll damn sure be miserably cold.

Christmas in Germany is wonderful. Germany is known for it's large families in these days, where entire families get together under the warmth of a fireplace and give gifts to each other.

Greater Germany is a very religious nation, we give thanks to our Lord before every meal and we pray for forgiveness and repentance every night.

It is a very holy day in the German fatherland and a mandatory day off, as is Sunday morning.

In Neopolis we officially do not celebrate, as few are Christians. However Giurthists have a celebration to bring the sun back, and Neo-Giurthists blow stuff up.

However this causes fires so ash is mistaken for snow

Christmas isn't celebrated in Radiatia, although because several of Radiatia's major export markets do celebrate it, it's a busy time for factory workers (though I imagine it's celebrated by the oligarchs who own the factories.)

This article sums up Christmas in Radiatia quite succinctly.

Only about 4% of the Sedik population celibates Christmas. But people shop and such and Christian owned businesses hang up lights and put up Christmas Trees. It's normally really snowy in Neccereç that time of year and normally gets about 15 inches of snow in December although it has gotten as high as 30 inches.
