Platform

More Democracy
The Red – Greens want a democratic society in all areas of life. Democracy is not a ready-made state; democracy is lived by people day after day: from the international levels down to local economy. Therefore, the scope for people to directly influence politics, apart from elections, has to be widened and safeguarded at all levels. This is why The Red - Greens demand the democratic control of economic power and the active protection of civil and fundamental rights.

An Economy for the Working People
The Red – Greens stand for the extension of democracy into the workplace, and for workers to have the ability to democratically self-manage the means pf production, and to organize in unions and strike. The Red – Greens stand for offering incentive for workers to unionize and supporting such worker managed efforts as cooperatives and publicly-owned enterprises.

For a Fair and Socially – Caring Society
The Red – Greens demand the introduction of a nationwide legal minimum wage, and a ban on labour leasing. Marginal jobs have to be turned into regular employment and the situation of jobless has to be uplifted. Working hours have to be shortened and workloads need to be reduced. We demand the introduction of a sanction – free minimum benefit.
Along with good pay for good work we demand that all workers should be entitled to pensions high enough to provide a decent living. People who were unable to sufficiently contribute to the pension fund must get legal minimum pensions. Nobody should suffer from poverty in old age and everybody have the prospect of an old age in dignity.
Only a targeted taxation of large properties will restore social justice. The Red – Greens call for an property tax in the form of a millionaire tax which is to affect only the really wealthy. Properties of less than one million are exempted from this tax. Properties exceeding this limit are taxed at a rate of five per cent. Income taxes are likewise to have the majority of the burden fall upon the wealthy. The tax burden on low and medium earners in both taxes is to be eased.

A Society for All
The Red – Greens stand against any form of discrimination and uphold that all peoples are equal before the law and should be treated as such. The Red – Greens call for the end of all anti-gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBTQ) restrictions in law and the work place, the repeal of all sodomy laws, and the legalization of same-sex marriage and same-sex adoption rights. The Red – Greens stand for the breaking down of all forms of discrimination from race to gender.

High – Quality Education for All
The Red – Greens want every child to have equal opportunities. A child’s future must not be determined by the origin, the financial situation, and the educational standard of its parents. The Red – Greens stand for a social education system offering everyone every opportunity. This starts from the right of every child to a nursery place, includes an extension of integrated learning, guaranteed apprenticeship, and free university studies. Not social exclusion, but cooperation should determine modern learning.

An Environment for the Future
The Red – Greens stand against the rampant pollution and destruction that is brought upon our natural environments, and sees a shift towards a sustainable energy policy as imperative. The standards of living and welfare of the current generations cannot be based on damaging natural resources and thus curtailing the rights of the generations that follow. In the same manner this means that in a sound environmental policy, short-term interests, consumerism and greed must be replaced by the protection of the environment and the preservation of natural resources. The Red – Greens work towards a future in which all of our energy, industrial, and farming practices are sustainable within the environment, and future generations have a healthy environment.

An Informal Introductory Info Page for New Members
You are a Senator of the Commonwealth of Aurentina, a fictional Germanic island nation in the Mediterranean that recently gained independence from Britain. For the purposes of this RP Aurentina exists in the "real world" and not in the NationStates world.

The official abbreviation of our party is RG or R-G, and the word "party" is not in our name. We are The Red-Greens, not "The Red-Greens Party"

Proposed bills usually go to the Coffee Shop to be debated and receive sponsors, though it is not required.

A bill needs 4 sponsors (meaning 5 if you include the bill's author) to be submitted to the Chamber to be added to the categories given in the first few posts (the ones by the Senate President Pro Tempore). These categories are known as SIMBEDS, a name that carries over from their initial implementation.

You can request in this thread for a party whip in favour or against any bill (including ones you write), but it is the Party Chair's decision to implement a whip.

Passed legislation is in the Archives. If legislation you write passes, please let me know so it can be added to our party archives as well.

You can make a Senator character and post info about them in the Database. There is a template on the first page, and there is no restriction on whose picture (celebrity, politician, stock photo, etc.) you can use to be your Senator's picture... just lets try to avoid duplicates.

Generic semi-OOC discussion takes place in the Lobby.

You must obey the Senate Ethics Act of 2013 and the Proper Procedure and Unacceptable Behavior Act (2013) in all threads that are created by the NSG Senate Administrators account.

    (8) When a decision on a question of order is reached, the Chairman supports it with quotations from the Standing Orders or other Party Policy, or simply by citing the number of the applicable Standing Order(s).
    (9) Once the decision is rendered, the matter is no longer open to debate or discussion and the ruling may not be appealed.
Article IV – Punishment
    (1) Should the Chairman find the utterances of a particular Member offensive or disorderly, that Member will be requested to post on the thread and to withdraw the unacceptable word or phrase unequivocally. The Member’s apology is accepted in good faith and the matter is then considered closed.
    (2) However, if the Member persists in refusing to obey the directive of the Chairman to retract his or her words, the Chairman may then take action in punishment of the Member in question.
    (3) The Member who has refused to withdraw their statements shall be warned of the punishment that will be given should they not withdraw their statements in their next immediate post on the party thread in question.

Yay, on the list of members

On another note, while reading through the Senate Chamber thread, I believe it should be possible to find a better way of organizing and filing motions and votes. Perhaps there should be a separate thread where Senators could make motions, then find appropriate support. They could then make one post naming their supporters, or the President could monitor that thread.

Perhaps there should be a separate thread where Senators could make motions, then find appropriate support. They could then make one post naming their supporters, or the President could monitor that thread.

That's a really good idea. Propose it in the Lobby.

Does anyone know whether or not our old party HQ is going to get archived, or will we have to do that manually to stop our past discussions falling victim to the F7 autoprune?

Would anyone be interested in assisting in writing a carbon tax law?

I hope you don't mind me posting this here.

      What I believe.

I support Gay Marriage, Abortion, Equality of the Sexes, Religious Secularism, Keynesian economics, progressive income tax and a varied business management system (you can choose whether you want a worker co-op or a traditional limited liability company for.example) and subsidiaries for struggling industries and support for small business.

I also support delegating policy to informed committees (just like a proper upper house). I was also the author of the first National Park Creation Act (along with Prussia) and a sponsor in other environmental bills.
British, Orthodox Christian, humanist and stoic.

Pro. Disraelian Progressive Conservatism, One Nation Toryism, Distributionism, Civil Liberties, Pro UK, Pro US Constitution. Pro USA.

Progressive Conservative Economic Right: 0.38 Social Libertarian -2.00.

      Christian Democrat NSG Senate.
