Wait

So a rod going at only 0.05c penetrates better than a rod going at 1c...and a rod going at superrelavistic speeds only penetrates on the scale of a 14 or 15 cm ETC?

I suspect he be joking.

Besides, the calculator doesn't even take relativistic physics into account. If you're hurling a round at lightspeed, don't worry about perforation, the target would most likely be vaporized because that shot will be carrying many many megatons of TNT in KE

Might design a tank that uses a meggitt system since those dimensions are useful for lineart

T-14 rocks the Meggitt system. Was pretty much the only one that would fit, due to the design of the hull. Not enough vertical room for a carousel, that's for sure.

Since Chinese never captured T-72, we can only assume that Soviets sold the technology to them.

It's nice picture of T-72 autoloader, although I couldn't get it in higher res.

it's interesting that Leclerc, K2 and Type 10 didn't use any meggitt type system and simply just used the type of chain and guide rammer found on the MBT 70. I wonder why. Space?

Cost and complexity, perhaps?

These tanks are known for their high cost and complexity, though. Also Meggitt is not necessarily that complex.

The S-tank had a really neat autoloader taht appears to share many features with the MBT-70s. It was known for high rate of fire (tho it was 105mm piece.) You can see some of the mechanism here.

The Type 90's autoloader, as previously noted, is a fairly average chain-type system - it doesn't utilise the Meggitt system because of space, but not in the sense that you'd expect. Rather, the Meggitt system is designed to address the Abrams' dimensional shortfalls in the realm of installing an autoloader, something these built-for-purpose tanks didn't have to contend with; as such, they don't really need a system that'll pull these rounds backwards out of the bustle and flip them around before loading them into the gun. Similar issues arose when they were considering autoloaders for the Leopard 2, and a number of KWS II proposals considered a similar rotational system coupled with a bustle autoloader.

One of the genuinely earlier autoloader designs. Not too impressive, mind.
