Annexation Talks between Timakeia and Epicnopolis

President Klaus Vogel and Foreign Minister Anne-Marie Kraft have arrived for the summit with the delegation from Epicnopolis. The purpose was to become part of that nation, one with similar socialist principles. Timakeia was too small to last on its own.

Queen Rachel Santers checked herself in the mirror one more time. And went out to greet President Vogel and Minister Kraft. Epicnopolis was not an imperalistic nation. So no one had ever really expected them to ever annex a country to become a colony, but alas, that was what was happening on this cold winter Day in Peroya, Epicnopolis.

As Rachel walked out she noticed the friendly faces of the two people in front of her. She greeted them with a warm smile. "Hi," She said and offered her hand to shake both of theirs, and they did so. "Would you come in? At this time in Epicnopolis, especially up in these Peroyian mountains, it can get cold very quickly."

They walked in and sat down in their respective chairs. "So. Shall we get down to business?" Rachel asked.

"Certainly, Your Majesty. Our nation is small, and we have just deposed a brutal theocracy that punished dissent and bankrupted the country with wars and weapons of mass destruction. The armed forces were mercenary, because Cardinal Drucker didn't trust the common people. We couldn't rely on them and they cost a lot, so we disbanded the military. Now the Communists and Nazis are battling each other to take over. The best way to ensure the triumph of social democracy is to unite with another nation with similar values. Then we can take a less parochial view of things and a greater understanding of the brotherhood of man. We will pay taxes and contribute soldiers, as well as obey your laws. We do ask for our own regional cabinet and assembly, as well as our own police force and consulates or sections within your embassies. Our officials would take an oath of loyalty to the Crown. We would expect to participate in your social services and licensing programs. We would add Hebrew and Yiddish as official languages alongside German and English. That is our first proposal. If you have different thoughts, we will of course listen to them. This is just our initial thinking," President Vogel began, albeit nervously.
He had a secret fetish of attraction to Jewish girls. He hoped it wasn't obvious, especially to Anne-Marie, who was his mistress.

IC: Rachel looked at the man and smiled. "We have no official language. And they don't have to come to our services if they do not want to. But they definitely can if they want. As for your regional cabinet and assembly, go ahead with that...but if I or an Epicnopolian cabinet member sees something they don't like, we will change it."

The windows rattled as a blizzard started outside. As was the custom of Epicnopolian winters. "Um...your citizens would have to abide by our laws, and they will be punished the same way an Epicnopolian citizen would. Shall we make it official?"

OOC: This treaty thing may be a bit sloppy, I've never done anything like it before.

"Of course. Part of being under the sovereign rule of another country is accepting their system of laws. Let's seal this deal," Foreign Minister Anne-Marie Kraft agreed, extending her hand to the Queen after winking (and receiving nonverbal consent from her President) at Vogel.

A man walked up to Rachel and whispered in her ear. Her eyes widened and she did a face palm. "The nation of Chetssaland has declared they will invade your nation if you sign this deal..." She sighed. "Epicnopolis and Chetssaland have been in a cold war for quite some time..." A very serious look appeared unexpectedly on Rachel's face. "We will defend you from attack. And I plead with you that if you decide to not go through with this deal, let it not be out of fear, but out of reason...So uh...if you still want to sign it, sign right here please."

Rachel smiled grimly. "I like you. I'll tell ya that. You're exactly the type of person I would want to run a colony of ours." She sighed as she gathered up the papers. "We will be sending the 9th Army to garrison your island. Roughly 1 million men...I must tell you, prepare Timakeia for war. Chetssaland means business..."

And with that, she shook their hands, gathered the papers, and left into the impending blizzard outside.
