Does your nation own/are working on nukes?

Postby Cliathe » Wed Apr 24, 2013 5:20 am

If so, how many and why? If not, how come? Please keep in mind the Nationstates rules on who can have nukes. I think its nations with like a million people or something. Obviously we don't have any yet because of that, but we are working on both a solid large strike nuke and one that breaks apart into many like the Jericho missile. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNAgFhh1ji4
Complete with the portable bar like in the vid. Now instead of your standard tactical nuke, that just levels or disintegrates everything and leaves a smoldering, radiating crater, we did one better. Still dispences poisionous radiation yes. But only to people and animals. whats left of nature will come back in full force and reclaim everything like a swarm of misquitos while purifying the area for whatever is left of humanity and animals to start over. Oh ya and instead of a crater, it turns everything into ruins like in romanticly apocalyptic or fall out 3. Usually in the form of some sort of fog and loud, earth breaking explosions. Still, the force of the impact and what little bits of shrapnel that aren't disintegrated on impact, will likely at least do some damage to nature.

Yes, we do have an extensive nuclear arsenal.

OOC: There is no such rule, the 100-million rule is more like of a guideline that should not be followed anally (Besides all nations start with 5 million people).

OOC: Oh. I thought it was a rule. Thanks for that clarification. That will speed along our nuke program, nicely.

We do not and will (hopefully) never own any nuclear weapons nor any chemical or biological weapons either.

We currently have a nuclear program, funded by our ample supply of Uranium from our mines. The precise number of nukes we have is classified, although it can be safely said that there was already a successful nuclear test in the Principality of Romberg.

Most of our nukes came to be constructed because of a certain former emperor was paranoid about asteroids.

So, we wasted billions on methods to intercept asteroids, which concluded with mass production of nuclear weapons.

In the end, we were left with a massive collection of nukes stationed in underground storage sites across the empire. While some are stationed somewhere, orbiting around the earth.

we have no need for nukes as we are currently in the process of acquiring Radioactive Planet Meteor Bombs (or RPMB's for short). which could lay waste to entire continents and peoples. of course as these are to be salvaged from the remains of our old galactic empire they will be few in number so everyone can rest in peace (roughly about two...maybe three if we are lucky). but our highly advanced space navy is just as capable from orbit to surface attacks as well as missile interception.

New Corda frankly does not need nukes. Or WMDs of any kind, for that matter. We have other NACO countries for that. Like Emmeria. With the size of their arsenal, no civilized country is going to launch at any NACO-allied nation. This leaves terrorists, who are not really effected by deterrent anyway, and can be dealt with conventionally.

Thus, the government sees no purpose in pouring money into a nuclear program, when those funds could be allocated to healthcare or education.

A nation without nuclear weapons in the modern day and age is like a 14 year old girl running around naked in the depths of rural India. Of course we have them. As to how many we have. We will let you find that out when the time is right. :p
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The above post contains hyperbole, metaphoric language, embellishment and exaggeration. It may also include badly translated figures of speech and misused idioms. Analyze accordingly.

Rhodesia does not have any nuclear weapons nor does it seek to own them. The government did, however, have knowledge of the South African nuclear weapons programme, which has since been disarmed.

We prefer using high-velocity kinetic or antimatter weapons. Nuclear weapons have a tenancy to leave radiation everywhere and are quite unsavory in general.

We have a few, just enough to act as a deterrent. Really, if we wanted to cause large amounts of damage to a nation we would use our Behemoth rail cannon instead - it's far more effective and doesn't leave radiation everywhere.

Many, many warheads. Roughly...
> No less than 800 for immediate launch
> No less than 1200 for retaliatory launch (within 40 minutes)
> No less than 1200 as a Strategic Reserve (stock for exchange with other warheads on readiness, to allow for maintainence/core replacement/decommissioning as necessary - and as a reserve to be employed for prolonged nuclear exchanges).

Manufacture was from the extensive and prolific nuclear reactors in use in the nation to provide plutonium cores, with thermonuclear capacity provided by the use of various technologies. In theory, weaponry-capable reactors could produce enough material for 100 warheads per month, more in the event of a prolonged nuclear exchange or buildup.
