Explosions at Boston Marathon

Breaking news on the BBC, reports of injuries, hope everyone is okay.

Does anybody in the US know more? Apparently two explosions at a hotel at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

I'm hearing reports of multiple people injured, being carried out on stretchers. Supposedly the explosions were near the finish line, which is bad, because this is one of the most popular (and therefore crowded) events of its kind in the nation.

New England Cable News gave an unconfirmed report that at least one victim lost his or her legs.

Note to everyone who wishes to jump in and quote this, some hours after the fact.
That was a post made seconds after the news was first being reported on the BBC, when the aerial shots seemed to show literally one or two casualties on stretchers, at a point in which it could have been a gas explosion from the hotel.

We've since learnt that was not the case.

ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

It's the most likely scenario. Two separate explosions at the finish line of the most popular sporting event of its type in the nation? As Brian Williams already observed, something along the lines of two separate gas main explosions at that time on this day beggars the imagination.

Im looking but I haven't been able to find any more details about it yet. That would suck though, get through running the Boston Marathon then lose your legs in a random explosion.
