You have to understand F7 history to get it.
It pre-dated TET, so it was, really, one of the only chat threads in existence.
In its first incarnation, it wasn't even solely a chat thread, it was a combination f various location threads established by players which were shut down by the mods when rule breaking in F7 ran amok. So they provided one thread, equal for all, for everyone to post it. I was supposed to have an "RP-esque" nature to it.IT was compromise to allow players to continue the locations threads they enjoyed, but stifle the rampant rulebreaking.
As time when on, it became kind of redundant, especially when TET happened, when RP's were moed out of F7, and, finally, when location threads were allowed again. There was no further need of a mod maintained thread. Add to that the fact that some people used it as their personal cyber fantasy playground of the not so PG-1 variety, and you have the reason it was removed.
