This RP is going to involve a lot of intel agents and PMC operators vying for the same or multiple objectives. This is not an original concept, I know. This type of RP has been done before several times, but maybe with not quite the mix of agents vs PMC that this will have. Instead of doing the usual format OP for an OOC thread, I want to try FAQ style ~

Q: What's my objective?
A: You will send in your intel team and/or PMC team to secure a kidnapped scientist, Dr. Bryndas Heydrussen, or eliminate her.
If the scientist is rescued by Yellow Star or other forces, you may still want to capture her for your own nation or client. Other details of the plot to be revealed as we go.

FOR PMC's: You should have a client lined up. At some point it will be relevant.

FOR SPIES: If you're running an intel team, chances are you won't get permission to operate in the country. Doesn't mean you can't anyway, just be smart and stealthy about it. You may also have special operators 'on loan' from your military.

Q: Why should my nation or the client of my PMC care about this scientist, Dr. Bryndas Heydrussen, anyway?
A: Because she will have been researching a PMT that is highly valuable. Here's what I'm leaning towards: She will have genetic research, mostly in her brain because a lot of notes were destroyed. Some of it involves augmentation which has battlefield implications. (Thanks to Falkasia for that idea) Plus, some research done into injections which speed up wound recovery and create regeneration in some test subjects. In simple terms, were you to get an injection of this into your bloodstream, it would teach your cells how to repair and regrow like a lizard can regrow its tail. Before her lab was destroyed and all her assistants killed, she was one or two compounds away from discovering the formula.
You want your country or client to have it, and for it to not fall into the wrong hands. Obviously, she has value being alive and in your nation or client's lab.

Q: Why can't I use an SF or commando group instead of intel agents or PMC? What if my nation's intel apparatus acts as both SF and intel/recon or vice versa?
A: I'm trying to make this a PMC based RP since there's a lot of them out there now. (Have you seen all the PMCs on GE&T lately?)
I will take National Spec ops groups on a case by case basis, but please don't assume. Ask first.

Q: Can I use RL intel and PMC groups like the CIA, MI6, Saladin or Academi/Blackwater?
A: No, this is based off your NS nation.

Q: What tech is this? Can my bronies join?
A: MT (Modern Technology). You must clear any PMT you might want to use. No FT/magic/Fantech/PT. No anthropomorphic creatures. Humans only.

Q: What's the max amount of personnel I can have?
A: 10 persons for a intel/sec. agency. 25 team members for a PMC group. This is covert, possibly being unwelcome in a foreign country, remember. You can't waltz in with a whole big combat group and not be noticed. Not in RL and not here.

Q: Can I have both an intel/security team and a PMC group?
A: Yes, one of each. Neu Engollon, my puppet master, will have both. So total people in the RP can be 35 that you control.

Q: Can I have just one agent or operator?
A: Yes, of course. Good luck with that. If you're challenging yourself, that's a good route to go.

Q: Can I work with another intel or PMC group?
A: Yes, make whatever alliances you want. Break whatever alliances you want.
That's the biz. Remember high stakes. You can backstab someone later if you think your team can walk away with the prize.

Q: Do my PMC operators and national intel team have to work together?
A: No, absolutely not. They can, but they can also work against each other.

Q: Does the Yellow Star Republic have a security agency? An Army?
A: Yes and yes. There's no limit for the YSR on personnel. We are the host country

Q: Can I have a fighter, gunship, tank, nuclear weapons or some other heavy ordnance?
A: Again, that's not exactly covert, is it? So, no. There may be a helicopter, boat or two allowed, but not until later in the RP.

Q: Can I invade the nation or use more troops than the max? Maybe lob a nuke or two?
A: No. You're missing the point. Covert small action. You don't want International condemnation and you want plausible deniability. Your people are good enough that either your PMC or your intel team can get the job done and get out without ruffling too many feathers. If not, then you're in the wrong RP.

Q: Can I take out other intel teams or PMC groups?
A: You can try. No godmodding and be realistic. That goes for the other side of the coin, too. If they have you dead to rights, don't godmod your way out of losing some or all of your team. This may and probably will get bloody. I recommend not being too attached to your characters.

Q: What if I lose all my team(s)?
A: You may reapply to send in another group or team. TG me if you really want to get back in and I don't approve the re-application right away.

Q: Can I not be in the RP, but be the secret client of a PMC team that is in the RP?
A: Sure, if that's fun for you. I want you to hire a legit PMC listed in GE&T, though, if that's what you're doing.

Q: Who is the terrorist organization that kidnaps the scientist?
A: GLO (Gragastavian Liberation Organization), but nobody will know that at the start. To claim IC knowledge of that before they release a public statement or your team gains intel about them is considered metagaming and against the rules. By the way, The GLO, besides the Yellow Star Republic, is the only player allowed to have more than the max. cap of personnel. They may also have more equipment and arms than allowed the other teams.

Q: What if I don't understand some of the terminology in this OP?
A: Then you probably should not join this RP.

Q: You don't seem to have a lot of posts. What experience do you have to host/OP?
A: I'm a puppet of Neu Engollon and I will be the IC host country where the action takes place. Please TG Neu Engollon for faster response, or post in the OOC thread here.

Q: When will the IC thread start up?
A: When I decide it does. Please be patient.


Q: Can I godmod or metagame (use OOC knowledge to IC advantage)?
A: Nope.

Q: Well what exactly do you consider godmodding?
A: RP 101, you need to go and read this sticky and this one before you try to join any single other RP on NS.

Q: Is this story, character driven or quick action/instant gratification (my polite, diplomatic way of saying one-liner, nondescript posts)
A: Character, story driven, of course. If you don't like to write or make characters, you're playing the wrong game. Time to leave NS and go play your Xbox. The exception to this rule would be for response to other characters' dialogue.

Q: My grammar and spelling are bad. Does it matter?
A: Well, go back to the previous question. Yes, it matters. Just try. I'm sympathetic if English is not your first language. You should try to download an English spellchecker if you don't have one. Also, pay attention to incorrect use of homonyms. So, there's leeway there. No one is perfect, but try to not have sloppy posts. If it needs to keep being pointed out to you, I'd rather not have this RP be your learning curve RP.

Q: What happens if I violate the rules?
A: You will get 2 warnings, if you refuse to stop whichever pointed out behavior you are told about, or refuse to edit your posts, you will be kicked out.

Q: Can I put a bunch of OOC comments or questions in the IC thread?
A: No, that's what this thread or a TG is for.

Q: How often do I have to post?
A: Try to post at least every 2-3 days or keep up with the action.

Q: What if something comes up and I can't post or I want to quit?
A: Please TG me if RL comes up or you are overwhelmed or bored or whatever. If you want to leave the RP, I ask that you do it in a classy manner. Take your guys out in style, whether it's in a puff of smoke or they withdraw out of the AO, but we want to keep continuity. People just dropping out with no IC explanation ruins an RP. Don't be selfish and ruin it for everyone else that's into it.

Q: Why are there so many rules and FAQs?
A: So I can cover my bases when I kick someone out for poor RP. This is for clarity and less debate later.

All accepted. Just for clarification, Gragastavia (GLO) is the only one allowed more than the max people, besides the host nation, Yellow Star Republic. GLO are the terrorists that kidnap the scientist working on the program and kick this all into motion.

In light of this, would it be a problem if I used the PMC application form to apply my paratrooper special forces into this RP as well? The AFID is an intellegence-gathering organization and rarely is involved in actual combat.

Tagging for future application, once I revive my 'human' PMC nation. It's a shame that the rich history of the Argonian Intelligence Service can't be employed here, but rules are rules. I do like the concept.

2 things. First, let's see what other PMCs we get to sign up, then I might allow it.
Second, the AFID team doesn't necessarily have to seek out combat, they can go out of their way to avoid it. They might not be 100% successful in that, but you never know.

I miss being in an RP with you Arg. Remember Wadiyajikistan and Kriegman's Kabal? How hard would it be to just not mention any reptilian characteristics but use the same guys? I know you wouldn't be able to get into their bio features, but...hmm. I'm tempted to allow it, the problem is also that your stealth factor to blend into a human populace would be very low.

This is my (Wandering Argonians) human hard-MT persistent-story mercenary firm nation, which seems to be tailor made for this type of RP. I also need to kill off a few characters to explain why the current group canon doesn't have as many members. Rest assured, that they have just as rich a back story and the same overall style as the nefarious 'Blackwood Company' group from Wandering Argonians canon.

Extraction or Elimination of target (Optional to disclose): Extraction

Heaviest weapon team will use (not including plastic explosives): M60E4 Medium Machine Gun (Unlikely)

I've got basic bios written up as well as some more extensive works on the more colorful characters. Omitted a few due to being 'anthropomorphic' in nature, so there's thirteen in total remaining, two of which need to survive for further RP's. The rest I'll attempt to keep alive through skillful RP'ing, but have basically run their course as far as useful characters go. Depending on how well-written this turns out to be, it'll be a fitting end for them.

OK, I think we have enough PMCs, with the Black Hand, Tier One, and Uli-Schwyz, that we can let a couple spec ops teams in. Riysa's paratroops and GHawkins SWOB team are both allowed because they asked. Just fill in the Intel App. for them and edit where appropriate. GHawkins application is still forthcoming. I'm reserving a spot for one more player. Everyone else can apply for waiting list if you want, but I think we're full.

IMPORTANT: Also, I may edit the FAQ/OP to cover the event of non-posters. I know most of you, but I want to make sure that we have some regular posting and no one flaking out. RL commitments are understandable but when you start posting and joining other RPs on NS and neglect a commitment, that makes me mad. (It's really easy to check if someone's posting elsewhere on NS) Not looking for every day, but definitely less than a week. I guess it would depend on how crucial the action is surrounding your team. If you want to drop out for any reason, please just let us know and not just bail with no word. I like it when people exit in a classy way. ie your team is RP'd as withdrawing or they go out with a bang! I guarantee, with the people that are going to be involved with this, you're not going to be bored. Plus, you get out what you put in to it.

Lastly, I will be working on my OP over the next couple days, maybe doing a little bio on the good Doctor and why she would be operating a lab in the YSR.

Extraction or Elimination of target (Optional to disclose): Extraction. Directive might change on scene.

Heaviest weapon team will use (not including plastic explosives): M72 LAW and Det Cord (might change last minute depending on how we start this off and what there's to expect).

With permission of Neu, this is a special forces team (Think SEAL and Delta Force) attached to the Security Agency. As with all my military forces, they are highly trained, highly autonomous and equipped with hi-tech equipment. I have no problem explaining any of the tech used by them should you wish further information.

Here's the paratroops! Essentially, its a single squad which will be under the command of the intellegence agents. While the AFID will direct the operation and gather intel, the paratroops will do the dirty work.

Well...Under two conditions:
1. You have read and agree to the OP rules (FAQs)

2. You are only entering an intel team and/or PMC, no more spec ops teams allowed.

By the way, just FYI for everybody, your Intel/security agency team can be black ops/'wet work' capable if you want it to be. I'd like for it to be mostly Intel personnel, but if they're 'borrowing' some spec ops military people, that's ok.

Full boat. Working on the IC thread. I've made up some names for the nation. Made a cool dossier for the OP. GHawkins is making some maps and Falkasia and I have consulted on some plot. This is gonna be way cool, especially when we're all working on making it badass. Any suggestions, let me know. Most of you know me and that I'm open to input.

I do need to talk to GLO/Gragastavia about the initial incidents that will kick things off. In specific, the kidnapping of Dr. Heydrussen.

We might not start for a couple days, but it wouldn't hurt to start on your intro posts for your teams and their infiltration. Maps will be forthcoming and I will post some links when I can. Patience. I will give you a hint, there's a lot of coastline, it's a Scandinavian climate and culture. You may want to revise your infiltration based on that.
