About Rovegia

Rovegia is a small, wealthy nation of 8 million people featuring great natural beauty with beautiful, lush farmers fields in the central plains; tall, snowy peaks in the east and beautiful coastline in the west. Rovegia is a combination of two cultures with a predominantly French north and a Rovegian south. The cities of Rovegia are quite modern with all host cities of the tournament possessing state of the art public transit systems and other transport facilities. Some slight changes have occurred since the last tournament as Tihana Zupan has taken to the starting lineup replacing Marijo "Mara" Bogusevic as he recovers from nagging injuries sustained in WLC 14, Mirela Kasun is on temporary leave to have partaken in an ill-fated journey in the Winter Olympics as the backup goalie for the women's hockey team leaving LC Maribor's Marek Borisic to take the duty of backup goalie for the opening few games, and Besnik Hoxha has emerged from the Radnicki Nis team. It has been rumored in Serbian Empire media that Kasun will be made available as a backup goalie on match day 4 as she will fly in after the Olympic Closing Ceremonies.

Team Kriegiersien (called Kriegierstan in Rovegia) was using the local railway to Glaubourg. The squad consisted entirly of players from a small village, who had won the national qualification with 17:16 in Schoenwetter. The capital was the first time they had seen a bigger city and now they were in for the next shock. They were partying in the comfortable train, singing, drinking and gazing at the landscape.
The age of the team reached from Kevin (14) to "Wolf" Simonsen (58), they knew each other and many were related. They had been at an audience with the president in his palace, he had shaked the hand of everyone and talked with them. This had been a most exciting day, even though the president didn't want to talk too long about taxes and the problems of Wolf with his harvest. He told them he was proud of them and that the whole village would get famous if they would win the title. They got new equipment, so they didn't need the hand nets they used for fishing, cool protection gear and great red and white and black jerseys with the flag of Kriegiersien on it.
A day later they were singing, dancing and eating chips in the comfortable train, reading newspapers about the cup, travel guides about Rovegia and started training catching balls between the seats.
They were ready to rumble.

Lacrosse in Soviet Canuckistan is the fourth-most played sport after hockey, soccer and baseball. There exists a professional league system called the CPLL or the Canuckistani Professional Lacrosse League which regularly attracts crowds of thousands to its games. World Lacrosse Championship 15
West Guiana Pre-view

After a disappointing finish to World Lacrosse Championships 14 last year Hini La Huey comes back yet again as head coach of the West Guiana Lacrosse squad. Under Huey West Guiana's three WLC appearances each have ended with the team qualifying for the WLC Championship. In Our second World Lacrosse Championship we had our best finish to date with a third place showing in WLC 13. Though he has a 20-1-10 record as head coach Huey has put notice that this time will be his last, along with several players. So we hope we can send him out with something more, hopefully a title.

For the 15th World Lacrosse Championships are being held in The Federal Republic of Rovegia, their first time hosting anything semi-major that we do believe. For the 15th edition we've been placed into a favorable group. Unlike past Lacrosse championships which feature groups of four, this time the hosts have decided to go a bit more competitive with groups of eight with single round robin play. So unlike other times each game counts as they should. Now because of such large groups the top four of each group will advance to the Round of 16. We want to make absolutely sure that we are in the next round as we always have.

Now if we work hard enough and do well, and just maybe reach the finals the hosts have also added a little challenge to that too. Instead of just one game, they've gone a head and broken tradition of all kinds with not one game but a best of three series. Why yes we find this strange but in the long run which ever two make it should get ready for taking the long road to the championship. With a team of our experience and with many veteran players and a great head coach we give our approval, this is just what this sport needs.

Now what we'eve noticed over the past three lacrosse championships is that the game is dying..it's starting to die this slow and very painful death. We've seen it time and time again since World Lacrosse Championships 13, attendance numbers have gone down and the popularity seems to be dying off else where. Maybe with a bit of hope and luck this different format for the WLC will end this decline and we'll start to see an upswing once more. Anyhow enough with this, it's time that we meet our Group three opponents.

West Guiana (5): We start off with our selves, we're coming off from a lousy finish in WLC 14 getting beat in the round of 16. It was not what we had expected, but then again we didn't show up most of the time and seemed we weren't at 100%. However though with much rest we can get back to where we left off and get down into the field and play with everything we've got.

Slembana (6): They aren't all that new, this squad made their first appearance in WLC 13 we do believe, but they've shown especially in the last edition that they're a force to be reckoned with. And no doubt we wont over look that.

Soviet Canuckistan (18): Like Slembana they've been around however they haven't gotten their foot in the door very well and haven't been seen as any real competition. But maybe they'll change their ways this time round.

Cosumar (20): One of the ancient teams that have been here for many editions. However though they've slipped in the rantings and haven't been the formidable foes that they once were. However maybe this will become their come back edition and show that they've still got some kick in them.

United Kingdom of Poland, Grandterre, Vaugania & Catonia Majora(UR): These last four a newbies we normally wont be seeing them as any threat, but any experienced coach still knows newbies though not playing for much will be plying as the upsetter. However though if last edition was an example even newbies can rise and even win the title in their first time around. However though I think many coaches will make sure that wont happen again, at lest not in the foreseeable future.

For decades, airplanes had been banned from Tanah Burung's skies. And so the national team set off in a stately blimp for the long trip to Glauborg.

Truth be told, the Spectacled Owls landed in Rovegia still not knowing whether they were playing field or box lacrosse. But they were ready to give it their all. The Spectacled Owls were nothing if not enthusiastic about this new sport. And their funding agency, Stout Lout Ale, was keen to see Tanah Burung win some sport, somewhere, some day.

If that meant they had to offer free summer jobs to the unemployed members of the graduating class of Lovefest University, well, so be it.

And if payment had to be in ale? (Burung Bud, sadly, being illegal in the host state...) Well, the Spectacled Owls were all of age. And so they arrived, perhaps a little tipsy.

But very enthusiastic.

"Ca va? Viet gleci?" Midfielder Pedro Lay had every intention of making friends with the locals, and tried to greet them in one of their languages as he walked the streets of Glauborg. If his linguistic skills had been better, he might even have understood the answers. No matter, he soldiered on. "Voulez-vous un chum ce soir?"

Other team members dragged him back to the reasonably priced hotel.

Pedro and the other Owls would need plenty of rest before their match with Estope. A ranked side! They'd have to practice once or twice.

Rovegia welcomes the world for the 15th edition of the World Lacrosse Championships. Even though Lacrosse isn’t a very popular sport in Rovegia with only 10,000 registered players in a nation of 8 million, it’s hoped this tournament will boost the popularity of the sport. Lacrosse is administered in Rovegia by the ALR or Association de Lacrosse Rovégienne. There is one professional league for lacrosse in Rovegia, named the LLR or Ligue de lacrosse Rovégienne which features four teams. Last but not least, here is the Rovegian roster for WLC 15.

The Serbian Empire Continues It's Undefeated Ways

At the start of the World Lacrosse Championship 14, nobody expected the Serbian Empire to become an instant success story. At the end of the tournament, the team had won 10 games in a row and never even lost or tied a game. Some of the names in the championship lineup changed, but the offense and defense only got better between the tournaments.

With the first day of the tournament completed, the Serbian Empire beat Kintratar 18-6 in what is considered the largest win in the team's history by margin of victory.The next game is against Paradystopia, the #12 team in the world rankings and the most likely team in the tournament to pull an upset on the Serbian Empire's potent offense which leads the standings in the group play stage. Nikola Vukovic led the Serbian Empire's potent offense with 6 goals, other scorers included Zupan (4), Filipovic (3), Kovac (2), Antic (1), Maravich (1), and Hoxha (1). Some in the Serbian Empire's media expect the offense to struggle somewhat in the next game as Paradystopia won 6-3 against Rovegia. An opponent who holds their opponent down to three goals is a very serious threat to our offense, but with offense so weak that five losing teams have more goals means that it is possible that they played a turtling tactic in hopes of stopping the Serbian Empire's potent offense which has averaged 16.9 goals per game in the entire history of the program.

"Ah, now boy, we played pretty good. And having fun and trying your best is the most important thing."
"And did you see my roundhouseshot? Yeah!", came the voice of Tim from behind.

Vaugania Obliterated Without Mercy

With sports attendance and interest at an all-time high in Vaugania, the Golden Eagles entered the world of lacrosse... and were crushed without any signs of mercy. The Golden Eagles played their first game in the World Lacrosse Championship 15 against 6th in the world, Slembana. Slembana tallied 14 points and Vaugania managed only 1. The Golden Eagles now have the lowest points for total out of all 32 participants. On the bright side, of the 3 losing Group 3 teams, Vaugania allowed the fewest points and allowed the second fewest out of the 4 unranked teams. That is hopefully a testamnet to Dutch Reagan's goaltending skill.

In the first half, it was all Slembana, all the time as the score suggests. They heade into the locker room with a 6-0 lead earned through a massive volume of shots. The Golden Eagles suffered their first injury of the tournament as midfielder Dayton Arni was knocked out of the game and backup, Buck Williams, had to come in for his wounded comrade.

The second half started as everyone expected. Slembana got 4 more goals. Down by 10, the Golden Eagles woke up just a teensy bit and got their first goal. The Slembana attackers came in from the wings, but Patrick O'Malley wasn't got to let them score again. At least not on that particular play. He sent the ball flying with a precise stick check and Bennett Sutton scooped it up. He fired it deep to Buck Williams who advanced it to Dallas Wainwright. Wainwright moved on foot and shot the ball up the center Hal Jarrett, who through some stroke of fate, got the ball past Slembana's goaltender.

With the score 10-1, Slembana put up 4 more before the end of the game, winning 14-1. Next up is 18th ranked Soviet Canuckistan. If this last was a signal of our future, please watch something else. The WBC is still going on.

Tobys Great Britain Destroyed

The International Lacrosse Team in their very first fixture were destroyed 18-9 last night in against Darmen. Despite a promising start Darmen came good and we were just not good enough for them. By the half way stage it was all over with the score being 9-2 to Darmen and the second half hoarded another pummeling. However there are many more teams to play yet and all hope is not lost but another performance like that could easily crush the confidence of the players despite a number of them coming out and saying this would not happen.

Team Captain Matthew Nugent stated 'we are disappointed with our very first international fixture and of course we will be working hard to rectify this in the upcoming games. We know we have no experience at international level but we are all really experienced at a local level and once we click I have no doubts that we will replica our club form when playing for Tobys Great Britain. I understand that many fans are upset by what was a po.. humiliating defeat and we can only hope they stick with us in the hope it will get better.

Next up is the number 22 seed Licentipacisterra and although the previous team were 3 times better than them ranked number 7 we can still hope that we hold a chance in this game but we all know that it may get a lot worse before it gets better.

The Serbian Empire wins against #12 Paradystopia 7-5

This is the lowest score in both goals for (7, breaking the old lowest total by 6 goals) and against (5, breaking the tied record against Mytannion in the World Lacrosse Championship 14 finals and yesterday's game against Kintratar) the Serbian Empire's team. The suspected turtling actually did happen as to try to keep the Serbian Empire offense away from the Paradystopia goalie. They may have not even actually attempted to win as much as keep likes of Zupan and Vukovic from scoring by using their forwards and attack players pretty much in a defense role of passing to each other with little actual shooting as it would have been an opportunity for Vukovic to score as the possession would work in the Serbian Empire's favor. Vukovic scored as many goals as the entire Paradystopia team in yesterday's game against Kintratar. the leading goal scorer was Gordan Maravich who scored 3 goals with Tihana Zupan and Nikola Vukovic scoring two goals each accounting for all of the offense.

Tomorrow's game is against the #22 ranked Quebecois "Hitmen" of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. They have a brutal style of play which scored 7 more goals in the first two games than Paradystopia although no match in offensive firepower to the Serbian Empire, Thatius, or shocking newcomer East Shippensburg in offensive firepower in this group who all average three more goals a game. As a result, a more offensive gameplan has been established which means attacking the goal early and often with as many shots as possible. Shoot early and shoot often is key in the gameplan. The "Hitmen" like to charge the goal, but aren't quite as accurate at shooting or have sacrificed defense to produce more offense. We have a potent offense but will change to the opponent's strength as to counter their weakness.

Frank Miller: Really sad. Now to Lacrosse. The World Championships in Rovegia just started.
Chad Wilson: Yes. A little village, what's it's name.....?
Frank: Watchanam.
Chad: Exactly. A well liked joked in the region of south Kriegiersien. Only around 420 inhabitants, they won the national qualifiers and now represent our Nation at the World championships.
Frank: And they are funny fellows. Here pictures where they are playing with kids at a school in Glaubourg, showing their sport or here... one of their players, Franz Stein, at an eating contest in a restaurant. I don't think he will play tomorrow.
Chad: And they play really well for a band of brothers ..
Frank: ..some might call them country bumpkins...
Chad: ..Only mean fans from other teams. And they are playing good, with heart and understanding for each other and the game.
Frank: Lacrosse is an old traditional sport in Watchanam and they are playing together for decades, more or less.

Chad: Still, no win until today. Against Schmiegelland a terrific game, which ended in a draw.
Frank: 9-9 and Schmiegelland played pretty unorganised. 11 times offside. Too many players on the field once. It's a wonder that the skill of their players..
Chad: ..or luck..
Frank: ...brought them back after a 4-7..
Chad: Before they seemed to have forgotten how to play, after Schmiegelland had a 4-0 lead.
Frank: I think we can agree that both teams played lke their flags.
Chad: With a lucky shot making the 9-9 in the last minute for the yellow smilie.

Frank: However, the next opponent, Tanah Burung, is another level. They are not only playing active, but also more focused.
Chad: And they easily won against Northern Sunrise Islands with 8-3 were our team lost 5-6.
Frank: I think both teams are at least equal in quality and even spirit. But their players are generaly more... educated.. I might say. I'm hoping for many goals and a win for our boys against the Spectacled Owls.

Chad: All fingers LAcrossed. Now to soccer, will there finally be a participation in the Champions Cup for Kriegierisen teams? Baseball, what is that? Is there an expensive yacht in build for a sailing competition? Martial Arts aaaand Football. Can a horde of unemployed, homeless and Ex-Prisoners compete as Amateurs in the Football League? After the commercials.

Bob Nixon: Another disappinting result last night for Tobys Great Britain at Lacrosse, now two games defeated.
Jim Grant: Well yes, yes but the gap in this game was not as small as the one in the opening game, we are starting to mould together more and we may win the next game.
Bob Nixon: The fans won't see it that way however.
Jim Grant: Irrelevant, we are still in with a really good chance provided we start playing. Fans will always moan in this situation and will always be happy in times of victory- it's just the way.
Bob Nixon: But we're up against experienced sides, we are very new and what chance do we have... realistically speaking I mean.
Jim Grant: Yes they are experienced but what is the worst they're gonna do- wave their pension books at us. They're old and we have a very talented and young side- it'll happen it just takes time. You'll see we in the next couple of years are going to dominate the Lacrosse world.
Bob Nixon: Well we can only hope... Anyway onto the news from the Copa Gaveo..
