So, why are you an Atheist? What caused you to discover "God" doesn't exist. Mine was getting diagnosed with MS.

Nothing caused me to be an atheist, I was one since birth. I just never converted to a religion because they lack evidence.

First I found out God was unproven and unprovable. Then everything started going downhill.

For me I started to embrace the whole 'God gave us Reason, not Religion' bit from Deism, then it kind of just went downhill. :D

I've been an atheist since birth.
I began to be a conscious atheist (actively knowing some arguments as to why god doesn't exist, as opposed to simply not believing and being like "Meh, not convinced." etc.) around 5 years ago when I discovered hitchens.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

I've been an atheist since I was twelve. I didn't find any reason to believe in god.

I just realised that christianity made no damn sense and that the god I was reading about was clearly a monster. Around age 12 or so I guess.

I was gently presented with logical arguments as to just why the presence of gods in the way we are told about in say, the Bible, is extremely unlikely, and arguably does more harm than good.

Would ya'll say that there's a difference in how Atheists who are former atheists, and Atheists who were never theists, would you say there's a difference in how they view religion in general?
Like I was raised in a religious setting and I absolutely despise religion. Is that normal for former theists?

Source?

The fact that we live in a deterministic universe caused me to become an atheist.

I don't think there is any difference, honestly. Maybe a slightly stronger dislike for religion if your family was really religious, but that's it, I imagine.

Oh yes, people believe in foolish things, like gods, end of the world predictions. Of course logic and rationality causes people to recognize when they're believing stupid shit and correct themselves.

1. You need a source on that.
2. I have a source that says the opposite is true.

I *think* I'm currently an Atheistic christian the change has come upon me slowly coming to ahead about a couple of days ago... What Christ says still makes a lot of sense to me and I think he was a very wise teacher for his time... But Rationalism recently demonstrated to me that I don't actually Believe in God... I Believe in Belief. So... I don't know what I am Now but there is certainly an Atheist element to it.
