Can I stay as I am?

Postby Zeetopolis » Wed Oct 21, 2009 1:48 am

I've taken a good long look at my nation as it is, and I can't think of any way I'd want to change it. Crime is low, my population is "hard-nosed" "hard working" and "intelligent", the country matches my politics pretty much exactly (I'm a sort of libertarian/conservative blend). I have "no government in the normal sense of the word", just a group of people who meet to discuss Law & Order, Defense and Commerce. And income tax is "unheard of". My economy is a powerhouse, and my people have "very good" political freedoms and civil rights. I'm happy to be rated as a "Capitalist Paradise".

I don't want to change! Should I simply dismiss all issues I get from now on? But I can think of some ways I'd like to be different (i.e., I'd prefer better ratings for economy and political/civil rights; and I'd like Education to be one of the priorities of my pseudo-government). What should I do?

What about scrutinizing every issue to see any possible educational or whatever benefits, and dismissing the rest?

Personally, I'd keep having issues, but always angling toward my favored category. It'd get boring with no issues to look forward to.

Believe me, after a while the issues start becoming a hassle. Of course, nation's are more prone to radical change the smaller they are (in my experience, not going off any hard evidence here). My nation (over 14 billion at the moment) changes very slightly per 1 issue. In fact, I stopped giving myself issues completely as I am situated at a "Corporate Bordello" which is a very good place to be for my nation.

Of course, being on this game since very early on in it's conception, I've seen almost every issue in the game; so, it's gotten kind of repetitive.

Have you heard about the trio of new issues that would (if you chose suitable options) give you the ability (through new boxes on the 'Settings' page ) to name your nation's leader, capital city, and 'national religion' respectively?

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

The only 'eligibility' factor for any of those three issues is population: For one of them it's 250+ million people, for another it's 500+ million, and for the third it's 750+ million... I can't remember which is which (although there's definitely a thread about it somewhere, probably in the 'Issues' section but maybe in 'Technical' instead), but I see that your nation should hit the uppermost of those criteria within the next few days anyway... (EDIT: and I see that you've already had the 'Capital City' issue, so that must be one of the "earlier-eligibility" ones...)

No, I haven't actually. I've stayed out of the forums for the past few of years (just now restarting, the last time I ever posted were on the pre-jolt boards). So I'll keep an eye out for those issues. Any idea what they might be called?

Yes you can stay as you are. Just scroll down to see the 'dismiss issue' button and click on that for all the issues. You can also go into settings and decrease the amount/frequency of your issues.

I think the leadership one is "Follow the Leader". I don't remember the other two, but they're not hard to spot.

'A Capital City For @@[NAME]@@?' (#241), 'Follow The Leader' (#242), and 'A Question Of Faith' (#243), all of which were written by Sirocco.

Sounds exciting. I'll keep a look out for them.

I can't remember the last time I actually answered an issue. I think they are boring myself.
