I'm a straight Christian male, and LGBTIQ rights rule! :) In fact, my best friend is gay. I don't see why having a gay friend is any different than having a friend of the opposite gender.

Well, for starters, unless they're a gay friend of the opposite gender, then they are the same gender and therefore will likely act in a different manner than a friend of the opposite gender.

I was attempting to drive home the point that gay males are not interchangeable with straight females.

It's not that weird, it's just that the ones against those rights are much more vocal about it. I'm Christian and bi. :p

I am an agnostic theist at the moment, and because I was raised (kind of) Christian, I see myself as a Christian at the moment...

Also true, but I misinterpreted your tone. Thought you were kind of surprised.

Ha, true Christians would, in my opinion, if they are New Testament types.

Dunno.

I was born Catholic, but as soon as I thought about that Religion stuff the first time (around 6 or 7, IIRC), I didn't consider myself Catholic or even Christian anymore.

Actually for me it would have been publicly denouncing Catholicism that got me kicked out.

Under the Code of Canon Law, apostasy (formal renunciation of religion) and heresy are both grounds for latae sententiae (automatic as soon as you commit the act) excommunication. I've committed both, repeatedly.

If you're non-hetero and Catholic you're expected to have a vow of celibacy for the rest of your life, since you can't have sex outside of marriage and marriage between two people of the same-sex is not a real marriage. And they still view being non-hetero as a sin and as being "intrinsically disordered"

Not to mention the huge amounts of money they give to anti-same sex marriage groups in the US and around the world, see the last US federal election, while maintaining their tax-free status.
