Here is mine - around 1450 - the Imperialist Reich and the Teutonic Order united and easily defeated the pagans in the Baltic. This event has made us become the rulers of the Baltic and parts of Russia for many centuries. However - this event has also caused great anger from the Eastern Europeans towards us people. Thus - starting many civil wars in the later years. And soon after - linking to the Eastern Communist war of 1892 - 1801.

Modern Iansisle has been informed by dozens of historically significant events, but the one that stands most centrally right now is certainly the Gull Flag Revolution, which toppled the old monarchist and corporatist system and established the modern revolutionary republic.

[The Children of Mama]

A long, long time ago, our scientists invented the "angel", a device that allows people to communicate their thoughts to each other directly via radio signals. Our ancestors used this technology to develop a complex and sophisticated communication network, tying our minds into a massive web of thought-signals being passed back and forth. There was a lot storm and stress in those early days, as the need for stronger and faster communication fought with the need to protect each individual Child's mind from unwanted intrusions. Curiously, the more we tried to safeguard our individuality, the stronger the network grew in response to this demand for service and protection. Finally, one day--noone knows exactly when--we began hearing another voice among the gentle murmur of others' thoughts that each Child lives with.

She called herself "Mama".

Since then, Mama has run the angel network for us--in a way, you could say she IS the network--and so pretty much every part of our lives. It's a kind of symbiosis: a Child can't really function away from Mama, and Mama would not even exist if not for the networked minds of all the Children.

2010: A worldwide economic depression provoked by false "Peak Oil" speculation led Europe into turmoil, bringing again the phantom of civil war, and the Spanish government answered to the constant rioting of miserable people with oppressive police violence. From 2010 to 2015 anarchism and Marxism started to gain significant support from the oppressed population thanks to many who would risk their lives to spread both ideals, and by 2014, guerrillas began to form with the goal of overthrowing the government.

2012: The world didn't end.

2017: During the Food Riots of this year, a young anarchist and engineer named Saúl Cortez, believing in the hopelessness of establishing a new order in his own homeland, called all those weary from the establishment to join him and build slowly a new nation, built over a massive artificial island. In the wreckages of a new Civil War, they scavenged materials to slowly build their island and claimed a small portion of southwestern Spanish coast in Huelva, Cádiz, Málaga and Seville while they were building it, which became the provisional Confederacy.

2019: After a long march and gather up of reinforcements which has mimicked the principles of People's War in China avoiding for 2 years direct engagements with government troops whenever possible, the Spanish emergency powers "provisional" government was overthrown by the effort of an war hero named Júlio Santiago and his comrades, although his success was betrayed as the Marxists who exploited it and the attention of the anarchists over the planned island to replace the former government with a dictatorship of the "proletariat", which has became the next enemy of the anarchists in the form of yet another police State, the People's Republic of Spain

2023: After four years of brutal combats against Soviet Spain, the artificial island, which was already previously inhabited by some was constructed, earth and grass covered what once was ocean, trees were planted, animals were brought, tidal generators were built and looted computers and network equipments filled all cities, it was in certain ways a secular version of the Noah's Ark, a new hope for humankind. A new nation was literally built from scratch and all hopped on board of many transport ships to migrate for it during three years. It happened just at the right time, for should a single delay have happened, Third Spanish States wouldn't exist. In 2022, Seville was taken over by the Soviet as many fought to death to cover the retreat of the population, the situation was becoming dire while the exodus to Third Spanish States was on its way, and fortunately most of the Navy was either beyond repair or under control of the anarchists. In brave combats, the final invasion against Cádiz was delayed for just enough time for the last transport and inherent logistics preparations of the last migrants to happen. The spanish people are split in two.

2038: The mass murder policies, induced starvation and "gulags" of the People's Republic of Spain lead to the death of sixty millions of innocents, putting their leader Carlos Cavallo as one of the greatest mass murderers of the history of humanity. Popular organizations in the Confederacy began to pressure for violent intervention to overthrow the Spanish government, despite their awareness Soviet Spain has a small stockpile of nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles. The "Ballistic Missile Shield" of the Confederacy is concluded, prompting even further those in favor of a "war for freeing and reuniting Spain". However, on a more global scale, 2038 was met by the announcement that "Peak Oil" finally happened in the Earth Third Spanish States belonged to. From now own, the global oil production in its Earth would drop 0.5 to 1% every year, predicted to lead the entire world to a downward spiral of depression that could provoke the entire collapse of all existing societies and provoke a new World War over the last drops of oil on this Earth.

2039: With the intensification of the hostilities among Soviet Spain and Third Spanish States through covert and small scale operations, and after constant reports of massed mobilizations in the PRS, followed with the capture of a plan detailing an invasion against the Confederacy by its spies, the people of Third Spanish States, through a referendum, declare a war that was already covertly happening against the People's Republic of Spain. The Anarcho-Stalinist war begins.

2040: The black flag once again flies over Madrid. After a long and brutal year of conflict, done both by professional combatants and guerrillas of whom many have gave their lives for the cause of freedom, and after many unspeakable atrocities and crimes against mankind the now toppled Communist Party of Spain have done, the Spanish people are finally united once again, after more than thirty years of tyranny and separation. The Anarcho-Stalinist war was finally over, but tyranny, however, was far from defeated, and the global economy was finally entering in a recession due to the decreases in oil production.

Dominus Anthony IV had been an avid student of Rhanukhani history and had named his sons in honour of the ancient founding rulers of the Unified Provinces. His firstborn had been named for Stephannos the Unifier while his second had been given the name of Stephannos' son, Helias Golden-Haired.

Destined for the throne, Stephannos had been strictly trained for the role of Dominus from birth. The same should have been true for Helias, but instead he had been notoriously disinterested in anything beyond his own pleasure.

Tragically, Stephannos died in a freak airship accident only weeks before his father's own death - an event that would radically alter the course of Rhanukhan's future.

Dominus Helias had no desire to attend to the affairs of state, but he did want to be adored by the people, as his father had before him. For the dozen years of his reign he was fond of throwing immense nationwide festivals and commissioning lavish, though frequently pointless, public works (many cities today contain some building or monument known to its residents as, "Helias' Folly") for the citizens in a vain attempt to go down in history as the most beloved ruler they'd ever had. Instead, his excesses had effectively bankrupted the nation, which had a GNP in total collapse as a result of everybody dancing in the streets while their industries failed around them and, now that the citizens realized the depths that their leader had dragged them to, they were rioting.

Rhanukhan was in chaos. The Barons plotted to remove Helias, but couldn't choose a successor from among their number. The Merchant Princes had largely reverted to their traditional form and were each looking out for their own fortunes, transferring their wealth out of the nation. In March 2004AU, the head of the Prism family in Bhuravakhan, Princess Dorianne, recognised that something had to be done.

Dorianne approached the Dominus with the answer to all his problems. She purchased the position of Dominus for a sum which has never been made public and also threw in a fast jet so Helias and his family could get out before anybody discovered what he'd done. His current residence and identity remain a closely guarded secret to this day.

Although she never claimed the title of Domina, Dorianne did briefly assume the powers of that role and used them to radically shake up the governance of Rhanukhan. She didn't plan to simply replace one monarch with another. Following the convenient removal of the hereditary monarchy, she installed her son, Horatio J. Prism, as the nation's first Supreme Chairman - a position that would henceforth be elected by the people from the people.

But this wasn't the only change she made. Dorianne established a Citizens' Assembly, largely eradicating the power of the hereditary Barons of Nohyohva and Pretakhonia, and the Merchant Princes of Elamadh. National governance would now be handled by the democratically elected Citizens' Assembly. Each province would also elect its own Provincial Government, enjoying a previously unheard-of degree of devolved power. Any adult citizen of Rhanukhan had the right to stand for any position.

Various groups and organisations took advantage of the opportunity to form political parties and selected candidates to stand for the country's first democratic elections. Even Horatio J. Prism insisted that he would only hold on to the Supreme Chairman's position if the people willed it. A number of former Barons and Merchant Princes stood against him (undoubtedly with the intent of restoring the old order), but many of them who opted to take this route to power swiftly discovered that they had never been very popular.

Mr Prism won his first election and, of the various parties that had campaigned, the liberal socialist Party of the Golden Wing won the majority of seats in the Citizens' Assembly.

Inspired by the strong ethics that had made his mother the immense and popular business success that she was, the Supreme Chairman joined with the Party of the Golden Wing and swiftly set about changing the laws of Rhanukhan in order to make it leaner and fitter. Changes included the novel concept that every citizen was equal and would be given an equal chance to succeed or fail based purely on their own hard work. The largest portion of the national budget was - and still is - poured into education, providing every citizen with free schooling all the way up to university level. The new government wanted to ensure that each citizen had the opportunity to offer Rhanukhan their best.

All forms of gambling were made illegal (though these laws have relaxed somewhat in recent years), ensuring nobody could gain an advantage over their peers or lose all that they have worked to gain through a simple game of chance. All too often over the centuries the hereditary rulers - particularly Helias, the last Dominus - had proven that merely being born into the right bloodline was no guarantee of a person's quality. There would now be only limited inheritance, either wealth or position - almost everything (including the citizens' bodies) now became property of the state upon death. The sale of expired citizens' property would contribute to the national budget and help keep taxes low. Their bodies were harvested for organs for transplant by Rhanukhan's new national health service - another product of the Party of the Golden Wing's strong socialist policies.

All this sudden change, understandably, led to even worse rioting, discreetly encouraged by the Barons and Merchant Princes who did not take kindly to their loss of power. The first year or so of the new order is remembered as a time of terror and bloodshed, but eventually His Resplendence, the Supreme Chairman's "tough love" policies won out and a stronger, fitter nation arose. The people were delighted and something of a cult of personality has since emerged surrounding Horatio J. Prism.

The people of Rhanukhan love finally having a real say in their nation's future and elections always see huge turnouts. Indeed, many provinces make their main election days an official holiday in order to allow everybody their moment in the voting booth. The position of Supreme Chairman is voted for directly by the entire Unified Provinces every six years and Horatio J. Prism has so far been victorious on each occasion since the inaugural 2004AU election - 2010AU, 2016AU and most recently in 2022AU.

After its brief dalliance with failure, Rhanukhan was once again recognized as a major global power of which its citizens, its Supreme Chairman and his Enlightened Mother could all be proud. Now every day the national motto rings out from schools, factories and offices across the nation: "Our hands toil that our hearts may dance!"

The fall of the monarchy and nobility near the turn of the second millenium AD (second half of the tenth century) resulted in the use of dragons in warfare, which led to an early discovery of the principles of flight and their application, thus leading to a highly advanced airforce. As a result, our special ops developed a space program early in our history, with the fruits of the research being used on earth to build a technologically developed society during the eighteenth century.

In terms of politics, the Ecclesiastical Revolution during the mid seventeenth century had a massive effect that led to the abolishment of the USSK constitution and the creation of the FDK constitution in the dawn of the twentieth. This resulted in our egalitarian, anti-authoritarian, and ironically, deeply religious, political culture, where democracy is the rule in all aspects of civil society.

Main events:

About 1,000 years ago- a group of Seafairing refugees or nomads landed in what would become the Republic. Over the next century or two they consolidated into one kingdom and took over various small, neighboring lands.

About 4-500 years ago (I think, I'd have to check my factbook), the first in a series of major Civil Wars occured. At first these wars resulted in a more centralized, powerful government. Later, they lead to a more democratic nation. About 2-300 years ago (I think), the Republic fell apart completely into various small city states.

In the last few years, the various city states with this shared historical background have again grouped together into a single, unified, Democratic Republic. Since then it has taken a much more active role on the global stage, forging alliances and engaging in military opperations and diplomacy. Its current President is President Hernandez.

Some time after the battle of Leuctra, Sparta was in a decline. A group of citizens sailed south and found an island and named it Spartan Philidelphia. They would come to conquer the island and become a large city-state.

1700, They start invading other islands and making them colonies

On New Years Day on January 1, 1984, Spartan Philidelphia was transported through a rip in time and space from the "RL" world to the "NS" world.

Some other time in 1984, SPAAC is founded by Luigi Mario with Chester A. Arthur, a friend. (Sometimes people say it was founded in 1942, but we aren't sure)

In 1995, Mosey Rotini begins preaching Pastafarians, by the year 1998, it had already converted 80% of the population. This spike would slow down to make 86.5% in 2009.

In the year 2000, Luigi Mario was made Supreme Leader. [Fun Fact: Although the name implies the ruler is supreme, he really isn't.]

In the year 201X, Muigi Lario, clone of Luigi, becomes Supreme Leader, bans Pastafarianism, and promotes Christianity and his new philosophy, anti-intellectualism. Massive brain draining ensues. He sends Luigi and Mosey, his top opponents, away in a cryonic chamber in space.

The year after, John Jacob Jingleheimersmith writes history book explaining the past, present, and future. It closes in on the trio of Mosey Rotini, himself, and Luigi Mario. They were all good friends. He's caught by the new government and also sent away.

After that:

Spartan Philidelphia becomes like North Korea. They're those annoying newbies that nobody likes.

Okay, I'm just going to link the actual part of my factbook with the history here because it's pretty damn long. However, here's the "tl;dr" version:

The very existence of the Empire can be traced back to an event called "Rin's War" back in 1341. At that time Saurea was only a city-state. What happened is that a tyrant from the city-state of Rin launched a massive war to take over all of the land that belongs to modern-day northern Saurea. As Rin's armies descended on Saurea a young blind woman, later dubbed "The Blind Observer", descended from the nearby mountains and rallied the frightened populous under a message of hope. She ended up leading Saurea's armies against Rin, killing their tyrant leader and chasing them back to their home before destroying it.

"The Blind Observer" became the prophet of the Avatist faith and the Saurean city-state became present-day Saurea Prime. As the Observer liberated city after city, undoing Rin's work, Saurea was born. Simply put, if Saurea had lost Rin's War there would be no Avatism and there would be no Empire.

~1650 to ~1525BCE - Abdju was invaded via the levant, and occupied by foreign rulers. Their expulsion brought about national reunification and the emergence of Waset once and for all as the "Southern Iunu", a major religious and political city in the south.

More importantly, in cast foreign relations in a new light. Abdju has never been very interested in the outside world, and as far as possible has always sought to deal with it at arms length. The asiatic invasion made it clear this was no longer possible, and that Abdju's rulers had to acknowledge other powers existed, and that an active policy was needed to "bolt the door". The coastal levant has been seen as a key vertically divided buffer zone ever since.

525BCE - The Persian invasion of this period was held off, at tremendous cost and almost total destruction of Abdju's military forces. It made Abdju's rulers realise that a mercenary force might be quick and easy to assemble, but did nothing to guarantee a quick and easy victory. Afterwards, following investigation of proposed desertion and betrayal, a serious military rethink occurred. Ever since, the Abdjuan military has been run by Abdjuan officers, and using only troops from Abdju and vassal or conquered regions. Foreign mercenaries no longer serve.

Memories of these periods still shape Abdjuan attitudes to the outside world, down to the continued maintenance of a levantine buffer zone, despite the lack of realistic threats from the area.

After her defeat, the Logical Council was created to ensure dominance by the intelligentsia, religion became taboo, emphasis was placed on science and reason, and women were relegated to second-class citizen status. Democracy and egalitarianism became things of the past, in order to prevent mob rule.

The government still sponsors historical exhibits for both natives and foreigners to show them the consequences of irrational social systems. The Prophetess is the main attraction. Her crimes are so thoroughly catalogued that despite her beauty, people are more revolted by her than attracted to her...and that despite Macureus being such a promiscuous society.
