The Dungeon Show! [OOC/OPEN]

Postby Firstaria » Thu Nov 08, 2012 11:28 am

*applauses from nowhere in a TV studio that seems to have come out from an horror movie in hell, the Dungeonmaster enters, covered in a purple mantle completely.*

Humans and non, ladies and barbarians, as you have may noticed everyone and his mother is practically doing this in the Portal to the Multiverse, so I said why not me too? I'm Daniel Mercury, and I'm here to present you a dungeon raiding with dice rules, as you have seen so many times it should not require a presentation.

But I know, what our public wants. Do you want people roaming around rooms filled with weapons to then fight minor creatures? Do you want them easy access to rest and shops?

* No comes from nowhere in the studio *

Yeah, you want them to suffer, to cry and to swear, to not be safe anywhere!!! You want things so random that the only thing sure is that they will swear my name! This is Dungeon Show!

*applauses from nowhere*

So, let's see where this will go, as our contestants will have only one objective: To cross the 10 floors of our dungeon, reach the bottom of it, and then defeat the final boss for the prize of 100 billion NS Dollars in gold bars!!! That's right, but now let's see the rules!

The rules are simple, first compile the module and you will be thrown immediately into where the biggest group in the dungeon is. If equal, I'll throw a dice and see where you end.

Code: Select all
Name:
Sex:
Active Bonus:
Passive Bonus:
Initial Object:

Name: If you need help for this, we will have fun with you in the dungeon...
Sex: Male or Female, it will count on certain enemies.
Active Skill: A skill you need to actually activate to use. Please explain it too.
Passive Skill: A skill that activates automatically or is always active. Please explain it too.
Initial Object: You can start with ONE object of your choice, the rest will have to be looted.

We are so kind, even giving them an initial object...but let's clarify something. Both skill and objects will not be rolled after the selection, but will be influenced by rolls too if they are not simple buff. For example a skill that makes something happen everytime a roll ends on something WILL REQUIRE A ROLL TO SEE THE ACTUAL EFFECT. Even the best thief in the world can stumble sometimes!

Also, let's give a look at our dungeon rules.

The dungeon is made of 12 floors: the initial room to begin, 10 floors of pain, and the final boss room.
The 10 floors are divided in 10 rooms, in these order:

- 1 Enter Room: The room in which you arrive once going down, it will never contain monsters, but events may happen.

- 1 Secret Room: A room hard to find with a special item inside. Always a good thing check for these, and finding this one will block the Doom Room.

- 1 Doom Room: A room hard to find masked as the Secret Room. The one who took the item in the room will be transferred in another plain and the item will be destroyed. In this other plain, usually almost invincible monsters and trials are inside. Pretty much this room will kill one character and block the real Secret Room.

- 1 Pact Room: A room not easy to find, it will have a Demon inside. Demons will offer exchanged that could work well or not, no one ever knows.

- 1 Exit Room: A miniboss will wait you in this room, then it will be exactly like the Enter Room.

- 5 Monster Rooms: All the others rooms are normal, and usually can contain monsters or events. These rooms are magical, so everytime ONE enters it will have a chance to trigger a monster or an event. If something is triggered, the room will not trigger anything else until everyone will exit from it.

Well, this is what I call organization, but I know what you want to know right. You want to know the DICE. Well, guess what, this time we will use a D10 dice, and not only that, but rolls will be publicly made here In GitP, so any complaint will be Immediately NULL AND VOID. Isn't fun when democracy is shunned aside for laughing matters?

As for the dice, it will work in 2 different ways, as normal actions and combat actions:

1 = Botch. You don't want to get this, believe me. NEVER.
2-4 = Epic Fail. You will fail the action, and get a negative effect.
5 = Fail. You will fail the action.
6 = Success. You will succeed in doing the action.
7-9 = Epic Success. You will succeed in doing the action, and will get some nice bonus from it.
10 = Godlike. You will succeed and probably get a Permanent bonus from it. It could not be a proper "bonus" however.

If the target cannot answer:

1 = Botch. You will probably hurt yourself.
2-5 = Miss. You will miss the target.
6-9 = Hit. You will do one injury, the gravity depends on the roll.
10 = Epic Maneuver. Usually destructive, regardless of your intentions.

If the target can answer, both will roll a dice, and the difference between the two will tell the action:

1 = Cross Counter. You both hit.
2-3 = Advantage. You will have a bonus in the next attack.
4-6 = Hit. You will hit and get an advantage.
7-8 = Critical Hit. You will hit and get a bigger advantage.
9 = Overkill. You will probably kill the opponent and hurt yourself and the others in the process.

And I almost forgot, the modifiers!

INJ: Injury. Everytime you get hit in any non-lethal way, it's an Injury, and usually a -1 on your future rolls. The only way to cure an Injury, unless you have something to do it, is to write "wait" or "rest", that means you skip a turn.

CIR: Circumstances. Events or logics that can make things easier or harder. Too random to explain them.

PLOT: Plot. This thing has no real plot, but some things may be important for some bosses or rooms, and so it will make plot bonuses going on about those things.

Remember, to trigger a combat action you must be specific, you have to wish to "Attack" your target. Using something on a target may not be considered a combat action, with the obvious consequences!

And last but not least, if anytime in any of your post, if just for a joke of for serious, you use the word "ESCAPE", you will eliminate your character from the show. Remember this rule, as you can trick annoying opponents to write "ESCAPE" or be tricked.

"ESCAPE" MEANS OUT OF THE SHOW

*whispers between the nowhere audience*

What? This sounds bad? Oh, so I forgot to say it: To finish the adventure, you will probably require as many companions as possible....BUT ONLY ONE AND ONE ONLY WINNER WILL BE ELECTED! No second place, no group win, the best is the best and the rest can die for what we care. And now...let the games begin!

*applauses from nowhere*

EXTRA RULES ABOUT POSTING

To be valid, your post shall contain:

 • The name of your PG.
 • His actual location, as room.
 • At least one line of RP.
 • The "Action: ...." at the end of it, as specific and especially short as humanly possible.

Post without this will be considered IDLE action and will count towards the 5 turn emergency escape.

And we have our first contestant. As your Active is accepted, your Passive gets turned to a +2 when sprint. What about it?

That backpack seemed a bit overpowered...but I don't see steal proof or lose proof so it's fine *evil laugh from him and nowhere audience*. As your passive, what about starting a fire everytime he get a 3 or less?

[n-9 PLOT] As John tries his skill, the microphone escapes his control, slams on his face and [n+9 PLOT] returns into the hand of the dungeon master, who acquires the bonus "Microphone Affinity" making any action with the microphone for him having +1.

" Hey guy, this hasn't started yet, so the PLOT GOD rule is still on until we have enough contestants to start.

Another contestant! I have to warn you this is not a B-game, your arrows has to be limited. 12 is the max we can permit here.
Also, are you sure about your active, it looks more passive to me...

I don't know, the passive skill is a little too generic to be incorporated with a dice, and what do you mean with air? Let's try to not confuse the public here!

I really don't see how to apply those bonus to the dices, if you are more specific then I could accept you.

Ok, let's do +2 to agility and avoid hits, and for the active you can simply copy any ability or modifier. Watch out that this ability will get dice throwed, so you may fail to do so and get the exact opposite.

Ok, I'll start this in the afternoon here. Prepare to die edition XD!

By the way, I find funny that only Olov decided to got something cool, and no one got that this is Free Tech, if you want a pistol is fine, as however the bullets are limited.

Initial Object: Vengeance pendant: Everyone in the room becomes aware of the amulet's function. If the wearer is killed, the amulet immediately makes an attack roll with a +4 bonus against everyone who made a successful attack upon the bearer that round.

Wow, this one is kinda hard to accept...but it would be so funny. Audience?

*Standing ovation from nowhere*

Looks like we have a last minute entry!

I don't know, the passive skill is a little too generic to be incorporated with a dice, and what do you mean with air? Let's try to not confuse the public here!

Ok then, what about this:

Active: Teleports when attacked if the attack miss (not too overpowered). Teleportation is choose by dice, as the higher it is the better is for you.
Passive: +2 to evil actions.
Object: Nothing.
