Would you legalise marijuana for tobacco to be banned?

Postby Chinamerica » Fri Nov 02, 2012 12:29 pm

Frankly, I'm disgusted by both cannabis and cigarettes, but I realise that weed is significantly less dangerous than the later are, even though it could cause schizophrenia, loss of intelligence and many things that we don't know about yet.

Anyway, I think we'd see a healthier world if smoking tobacco was banned in favour of cannabis legalisation. What do you guys think?
I like: Christianity, conservatism, gay rights, green energy, gun control, Western imperialism, Australian republicanism, Ronald Reagan.
I dislike: Communism, socialism, dictators, Julia Gillard, abortion, drugs, Nazism.

Why not have both?

I will however do neither.

Straight-edge. Hard-core.

You may need to compromise to get tobacco banned, but this isn't going to be it.

Why?

Making something as in-demand as tobacco illegal would put us right back to where we started.

In large doses, yes. Then again, nearly anything in large quantities is bad.

Not interested. If I want to smoke things, your little hang-ups aren't my problem.

We couldn't just legalise both and give people the facts about their effects in order to allow adults to make mature and informed decisions about the things they do.

We couldn't just do that? No?

What makes you think if weed was legal people wouldn't smoke 40 joints (2 packs) a day? How dangerous is 2 packs of joints a day vs. 2 packs of smokes? Or...how about 40 beers or 4000 calories a day. People should take responsibility for themselves.

I figured people are responsible enough to make decisions for themselves without the obsessive control freaks stating otherwise.

So, why not make both legal? It would result in a drop in crime for one thing.

They are both horrid. I would not vote for either to be legalised, even if it meant the other banned. In no condition should marijuana or tobacco be legal.

You automatically assume that everyone is going to smoke 40 joints per day? I'm tempted to ask what you're smoking. I've smoked pot in the past and I know some people who were pretty heavy users and even one who went into dealing for a while but still never met anyone that could smoke anything close to 40 joints per day. Food and Beer? Let people eat, drink and smoke what they want just tell them the dangers of doing so.

Do you know how much marijuana one has to smoke for it to be lethal? It's much easier for one to die from drinking water. :palm:

Oh really? People high on it have a higher chance of getting into a traffic accident, higher chances of suicide, chances of an overdose, higher risks of lung cancer, and more.
