Leader: Gisbert I, Crown Prince of Lacertus

Is your leader democratically elected in free and fair elections in the past 10 years?: No, Divitaen is a one-party state and does not have any democratic elections. Our government is selected based on hereditary position and technocratic competence, decided by internal party politics. The people don't come into the equation.
Are there any human rights guaranteed to the populace?: Yes, the right to not question the government, the right to not become a communist, the right to not commit a crime. However, we believe that government decisions should be based on pragmatism, and any international dogmatism on human rights that may infringe on pragmatic governance does not factor into technocratic decisions.
Is communism legal?: Certainly not, and any individual that professes to believe in communism is automatically deemed a terrorist, due to the presence of socialist extremists in our nation. The punishment is life imprisonment, and possible execution, for being a self-proclaimed communist.
Is prohibition in effect?: Many things are prohibited in Divitaen, including smoking, alcohol, drug abuse, prostitution and other similar vices. Punishments can range from heavy fines, reasonable imprisonment terms of 50 years, and possibly summary execution.

Good day, Director Arghet Shjoraski! I must say I am a huge fan of your government, the free and democratic Christian Republic of Luzicya, which embodies good Christian principles like not given healthcare to poor people (Matthew 9:35) and banning alcohol (John 2:1 to 2:11). I especially like how you stick up for the good guys in the world, like how you supported the country that locked up well known communist spy-bitch Diana Melo and threw a baby fit and arrested communist enabler diplomats after the World Assembly tried to take their toys away.

Since the government of Sondstead has consistently ignored your survey, I have filled it out my self as a private citizen.

Nation Name: The Republic of Vermont
Capital: Montpelier
Leader: President Alex Mapleoir
Currency: Vermont copper

Is your leader democratically elected in free and fair elections in the past 10 years?:
Yes. The elections for President are set by the national government and are executed by the townships. Every citizen may vote freely, and a variety of national, township, and private services exist to assist citizens in getting to the polls.

Election procedures are assessed by the national government. Townships that unfairly purge voter rolls, restrict access to polls or incurr other electoral malice are punitively fined and inspected, and find their future activities closely observed.
Are there any human rights guaranteed to the populace?:
Yes, the Republic of Vermont agrees with and considers the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to be a fair and accurate statement of the rights of all human beings.
Is communism legal?:
Yes. The government may not restrict or censor the speech or persecute the beliefs of individuals and groups under the Vermont Constitution.
Is prohibition in effect?:
No. Alcohol is legal in the state of Vermont, although fair and reasonable regulations do exist about its use-- for example, alcohol consumption while driving can be classified under the blanket offense of reckless driving.

Is your leader democratically elected in free and fair elections in the past 10 years?: Define "free." Elections are not rigged at all and usually have high turnout, but in heated elections, the results are often challenged. These challenges often lead to lengthy lawsuits, recounts, riots, and hand to hand combat between the candidates that sometimes ends in death for one of the combatants; sometimes both if they sustain bad enough injuries. Then of course, more elections are needed and the instability often leads to more violence.
Are there any human rights guaranteed to the populace?: There are a number of rights accorded to chimps that in theory are considered inviolable (freedom of speech, freedom of travel, freedom to choose one's mate), though old tribal traditions often lead to violations of these rights in the more conservative regions of the country; things like forced marriages. If charged in federal court, violators can sometimes be sentenced to death by beating, but local courts often defer to tribal politics and social mores.
Is communism legal?: No. It's an ideology for weak humans.
Is prohibition in effect?: Yes, as swinging through the trees drunk is incredibly dangerous. There is a thriving underground market for alcohol, though.
