Less and Less religious

Well, I guess someone might take advantage of this one day and ban religion as a whole. It feels bad when I sit here and look at the comments of some people around this forum. At a time I thought people could be reasonable with toning down religion, but it sounds like some of you want to start a bonfire and burn some Talmuds, Bibles, and Qurans' while singing deeply rooted hate songs and plan on lynching the kids from the Sunday school the moment they get out. Not that people actually want to do that, but its just the vibe I'm getting. You know?

It also feels bad when people tell me "You will burn in hell!" or something along the lines of what torture my soul will encounter after I die.

As an agnostic, I find this to be good news, that people are moving away from Dogma. So NSG, what I want to ask is this: have you ever doubted the existence of god, and if so what caused you to doubt it? If you have never doubted it, why not?

I'm more a Greater Good guy myself. Humanity is way too xenophobic in the WH40K universe, which explains why the Empire has not had any real progress for thousands and thousands of years. Hell, even the Orks managed to better (using a rather loose definition of the term) themselves during the last few dozen centuries or so.

I was raised more or less Christian with a side order of agnosticism. I might have believed in God at some point, but that was at the age when I also believed in Santa Claus. After I had learned to take for granted that contemporary Christians adhered to a metaphorical interpretation of most stuff in the Bible, it came as a shock to me that there were still people literally believing in creationism and a 6000-year-old Earth.

Spent some more years entertaining all kinds of ridiculous ideas (ancient aliens, Great Old Ones, conspiracy theories, magical rituals) but it gradually became more of an entertainment and less of a serious consideration.
