The Federation has a varied political party history, though the largest group are the Socialists and Democrats, repsectively. During the early years of the Federation, the government as it exists today, somewhat socialist in political operations, came into the hands of an extremely powerful railroad family, and this family would ironically not have had its chance at power were it not for a tragedy.

David Mills replaced Victoria Carroll-Joyce when she was killed on 6September1749, making her the first Federal Director to die in office, the first to be assassinated and the first not to complete an elected term. Mills was a moderate socialist, and only served for just over a year, choosing not to run for the 1751 Federal Directorship. However, his brother, Henry Mills, married Jane Caldwell, a railroad heiress herself, and formed the Mills-Caldwell family. The Mills-Caldwell name was adopted by his younger brother and younger sister, and all three of David Mills' siblings served consecutive terms as Federal Director, solidifying the socialist political name in the Federation. Joyce was the 6th Federal Director, and thanks to their cooperations, the Mills-Caldwells pretty much guaranteed that 7-17 were all socialist, which they were. Today, the Mills-Caldwells remain a very powerful political family, though no Mills-Caldwell family member has been Director for hundreds of years.

Republicans remain a strong party, though they largely campaign against other minor parties and have largely given up on increasing their federal presence, though it has naturally gone up in recent years by law of averages.
