Occupy Protesters block cars at DNC

Postby Greed and Death » Tue Sep 04, 2012 5:31 pm

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/occu ... itics.html

So the occupy protestors choose to descend on the DNC rather than the RNC. That was a surprise.

I think it is good they are not letting themselves become the DNC's tea party. Though I think they were a little disruptive and overboard in the manner of their protest.

What says NSG ?

I pretty much agree with what you said. Good that they're not letting themselves be co-opted.

Good.

It's sad to see it dwindle down in America though :(

OWS won't amount to anything. No one knows what they are protesting anymore. It was good when the first started out, now it's just people wanting handouts.

Unless the democrats have publicly announced a plan for a total subsidization of post secondary education I'd say Occupy is just being Occupy.

What does the Occupy movement support? I think they might be socialist/communist revolutionaries.

At the RNC? I would chuckle.

I was going to say DNC, but to be honest it's not that far-fetched. :p

All of the people joining along because they had no jobs got jobs, so the Occupy movement consists of wierdos and posers.

They're largely left-libertarian or anarchist. I personally think they should try to work within the Democratic party to get their message out there, but if they want to continue airing their concerns outside the party, that's fine with me.

That's the thing. OWS isn't a solution, it's a manifestation of people's anger at the situation. They're angry that they've been fucked around by the people they trusted for too long.

As time moves on either the situation gets worse and more cohesive splinter movements form, or the economy improves and everyone will go home and take much needed showers.

It could be that the RNC was more tightly controlled.

It could also be that OWS doesn't think the Republican Party is willing to engage in dialogue and make actual reforms. Thus, protesting at the DNC is much more productive.
