Civil unrest has broken out in the Western Linuxian province of Koy. The originally peaceful demonstrations have turned into all out riots, and dozens have been killed. The demonstrators are protesting against the Communist Party, and the hardline governments dictatorial policies. The Government maintains that its policies are a response to increased Corporate activity in recent months, which they say has been spurred on my more Capitalistic, neighboring countries. The Government maintains that the measures controversial are temporary.

Colonel Andrew Raik had arrived at General David Milan's headquarters on the Northern side of Howling Mountain, the base and training facility for Gordonopia's most elite special forces, the SPARTANs. Both the colonel and the general were former SPARTANs themselves, but they had become to old to handle the intense line of work. They were now in positions of command, Milan in charge of the entire SPARTAN organization, Raik in charge of SPARTAN operations.
"David, I've just got the goahead for Operation Hellbender."
"You mean, we actually got approval?"
"Of course. You know as well as I do that the top brass are still very anti-communist, no matter how neutral the official government policy is."
"I guess you're right. Who did we plan to send in again?"
"The 2nd company."
"This is big then."
"Yes it is. This is the biggest operation we've undertaken since, well, the Second Defese War."
"Deploy the men immediately."
"They're already off the ground sir. ETA 20 hours."

Somewhere Over the Ocean

Two heavily modified TB-1 bombers were heading towards their target, a nation known as Gnu Linuxia. This communist nation was on the brink of a civil war, that could potentially open the nation up to the free market, and a democratic society. The TB-1s had been modified not only to make them stealth aircraft, but in the place of bombs, parasite gliders were attached to the bottom. In the 4 gliders, 200 SPARTANs were waiting to descend into Linuxia. Their mission: to aid and train the capitalist side in whatever way possible.

This 200 man company has been deployed secretly by our government to aid the capitalist protesters in any way possible, be it security, training, anything. Should this come to civil war, you will be glad we're on your side.

Thank you, we are greatly pleased that the international community sees our plight for what it is. The training should be very helpful. We do not have large quantities of weapons, supplies or materials, and any sort of help in that area would be greatly appreciated.

The 200 men will be assigned to liaison duties, as well as to security positions and (for the higher ranking among you officers) training duties.

The TB-1s were high above the ground. About 10 miles away from the Linuxia coast, they deployed their gliders. The light aircraft would glide 20 miles to an open field next to a city experiencing major riots. Along with their standard armaments, the SPARTANs had cases filled with 200 ACR-1 Assault Rifles and 1,000 SR45 Handguns, as well as ammunition. The gliders slowly descended, and landed in the field. Another encrypted message was sent to the capitalist forces, informing them of the location of the gliders, so they could come to take them to their headquarters.
The company proceeded to set up a perimeter to watch for any people.

Early this morning, it was reported that approximately 150 rebels had attacked the Armory and Ammo Depot in Teshva, the Capital city of the province of Koy. Fighting between security forces and rebels lasted for three hours before the heavily outnumbered security forces surrendered.

It is currently unknown where the small rebel force acquired so many firearms, but it is believed that outside help from another nation is to blame.

After the fight, the now growing mob of Capitalist rebels descended upon the provincial Capital Building to overthrow the local government. Much to the suprise of out observers, as well as the rebels themselves, the local government (led by radical Capitalist Robert Winslow) raised the white flag of surrender, and willingly joined the rebels before a shot could be fired. The rebel leaders immediately sent out this message to the media...

"Today the Linuxian people will be free. The entire provincial government of Koy has seceded from Gnu Linuxia. We will not lay capitulate until democracy returns to our once great nation. The current government is illegal and illegitimate. We are the true Linuxians, and this is the true Gnu Linuxia. Long live democracy!"

The Linuxian Government has responded to the above by deploying the 8th armored division, and the 6th and 14th infantry divisions on the border of the province of Koy. Linuxia's army is being dispatched to other areas, mostly in the Capitalistic and sparsely populated western portion of the nation, to prevent any other revolts.

ooc: wow, how did an entire division mobilize (which normally takes at least 6 hours), board ships, and arrive in only two hours? I'm not saying don't make that post, just change the time to something more like 12 or 20 hours.

The communist forces were deploying in full force to the area. 150 of the SPARTANs were helping the rebels in ways like training, advising, and protecting their leaders. This left 50 to conduct their own operations. Included in this group was the 1st fireteam, the most elite SPARTAN unit. These six men had undertaken impossible missions, from assassinating super heavily guarded leaders, to destroying airfields. Now they were going back into action again. Their mission was to assassinate the commander of the 8th armored division, a fairly easy task. At day-break, they set out on foot from their encampment. It would be a 20 mile journey, but they'd be able to do it in a day. If they succeeded, it would show the Gnu Linuxian government just how vulnerable they were.

^^Above is a map of Koy, the only province to have revolted so far. Marked on it, is the believed location of the 8th Armored Division.

Colonel Zeus looked through his binoculars as the army approached the last known location of the Government army.

Around 20 miles from the enemy they stopped and set up their base, on the outskirts of a forest. Now it just a matter of time until their first battle.

The empire of lintyland is willing to send a fleet consisting 25 landing boats and 5 cruisers to the coast of Koy to help eastfield lodge in his attack. They will prepare for an invasion as soon as they arrive.

After a long, tiring march, the six men could see the Gnu Linuxian division. There force was small enough to remain undetected, and they had disguised themselves as civilians. They would pose as refugees, and would get into the camp by offering "information about rebel positions" (all fake of course). Once inside, they would silently kill the commander, and escape.

The Linuxian government has refused to elaborate further on the nationality of the POW, but third party sources indicate United Gordonopia as the offending nation. The captured soldier was with a small squad of other men, apparently in disguise. It is believed that a firefight broke out at a checkpoint, and that is where the man was captured. Linuxian soldiers say they may have injured another of the men. The rest of the men ran off into the hills, where they are still unaccounted for. Atleast 2 Linuxian soldiers perished in the fight.

OOC: Sorry, it just sounded unlikely that 6 soldiers, as elite and advanced as they are, would be able to infiltrate a division (100 tanks, 8000 men) so thoroughly. The news did not specify how they were found out either. Any little thing could have happened to screw up the mission, and it really is unlikely that they would have succeeded. I can change it to make them succeed if you really want me to, but I would prefer not.
